So are you telling me that I no longer need the 4 4x15s and the two Hiwatt 200s In all seriousness my longest playing stretch with one band (fairly successful, plenty of gigs) was done without backline. Folk / Ceilidh band, HH 100W pa with entire band through it, no monitors. How times change. I would be quite happy not using backline providing I could hear what I was playing. What are you doing about the drums karlfer?
I'm doing nowt about the drums, any more knobs than bass, mid, treble and volume make me start twitching . The band will be miccing them all up. The drummer turned up to my 2nd rehearsal with an electronic kit. That didn't go well.

I dunno, I leave you lot alone for an hour................. I've always wondered how Freddie Kreuger managed the toilet

Bass out at £1800 (always open to a chat). "I offer £1500 include ship to Spain". So, insured shipping was £92. An offer of £1500 against a selling of £1892. Somebody else got the bass.

Sold. Orange SP 210 Isobaric cab. Made in England
karlfer replied to karlfer's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
OK, all pm's replied thanks. Currently still here, although 4 folk are considering it. The 1st time I used this at a gig was with a Bass Terror 500. The Fleece in Ashton-In-Makerfield (the north west gigging chapter will all know it). I put this very small cab on a table. I put the Orange Bass Terror head on top. I could here grumbles and sniggers from drummist and guitards. Vox/backing vox set up. Snare and kick drum mic'd up. Time for sound check. No more sniggers or grumbles. The reason for this was simple. The cab is 2 x 10 NEO drivers. It is rated 600 watts at 8 ohms. The head is 500 watts, BUT the OBT has an ohmage selector on the back. Set that to 8ohms, and the full 500 watts of the amps power is unleashed. That little story above is really so I get no more messages questioning how such a small cab can deliver so much. It just does Cheers, Karl. -

The best 112's I've had were Bergs. They just did everything beautifully. No surprise really.

Many thanks chaps, much appreciated. Was beginning to think I really was missing something about cabs/amps on stage. Dood, I LOVE your videos !
Feel sorry for you ears Karl!!
Pardon ?
Its not necessarily all about the wattage as thats just the driver rating. The size, shape and design of a cab can make a big difference to its performance and power. Plus preference on the EQ'ing as well makes a big difference. Im a bit of a bass and treble boost and a slight mid cut but surprisingly the Classicline 1x12s do a superb job. If you weren't so far away @karlfer you could come try them
Really kind, thank you. And some very pertinant points.

So I put my Orange head and cab up for sale, here and Facebook. I mentioned in the advert that I was selling most of my backline because the band I've just joined don't want amps and cabs on stage. Might have something to do with an 8k rig, 7 PA speakers either side of the stage and 5 monitors. I got several responses on Facebook about "what sort of band doesn't have amps and cabs on stage"? A couple of the responses, you'd honestly think I had made it compulsory sacrifice of 1st borns. Am I missing something?
IIRC, the EBS are rated 250w each..so no more than TKS. However, I'm surprised about the perception they aren't loud enough. I've been running mine outside against loud drums and a 5150 and the bass reaches the back really well. I say this because I've heard recordings and the bass defo wasn't light. I'd be wondering what on earth the gtrs were doing, tbh Having said that, the TKS aren't budget cabs in any respect even if they aren't the most expensive
It's no perception. The TKS 112'S were not powerful enough for me. End of. My opinion etc. And the gtrs were helping the band to get return gigs each year for 5.5 years.

Moving most of my backline on as new band want stage free of amps/cabs etc. These do not come up very often. https://www.gak.co.u...r-cabinet/22021 Condition is good with a couple of tiny nicks in tolex. Bottom feet scuffed. About 4 years old MADE IN ENGLAND, unlike the later ones where production was changed to China. No cover. Fairly sure I saw somewhere the weight is 36lbs. That seems about right. Small box but very well made. £275 collected from Wigan (or meet within 30 miles) £300 UK insured courier. TRADES. I'm looking for a maple board, Mex Precision. Cash available to put to the right bass. Any trial in Wigan. Feedback linked at bottom of post. Thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. One of the best things about these is the 4ohm/8ohm selector switch on the back. So,if you have a high rated 8 ohm cab, you can get the full 500 watts from that. Gigbag/kettle lead included. £325 collected from Wigan (or meet up 30 miles of Wigan, no extra charge). £350 including UK insured courier. TRADES ! I'm looking for a maple board Mex Precision. I have some cash to add to the deal for the right bass. Feedback at bottom of post. Any questions/trial in Wigan. Many thanks for looking.
2 x 210 lightweight affordable great sounding cabs? Super easy. Ampeg svt 210 av. Two of them cost less than a 112 from many other brands, weigh nothing, and sound superb. What's not to love?
Only 200 watt per cab. Handle on top makes it awkward for some micro heads. No speakons. Well, you did ask. Still a good shout though
I went from x2 Markbass Traveller 102p cabs to a 2nd Gen BF Super 12 and it was great but it made me realise that I preferred the coloured sound of Markbass cabs and that I'm not so much of a fan of the mid bump. Im now using x2 EBS ClassicLine 112 or the EBS ClassicLine 210 and they are the best cabs I have very used, love the sound although they are not so lightweight
I'm intrigued by the EBS Classic 112. I've seen the quoted weight at both 15kgs and 17.5 kgs. I've seen comments that they look dreadful behind the grills Are they powerful? I had 2 x TKS 112'S and they sounded lovely, but they simply did not have the power to go against mic'd up snare/bass drum and two Black Star'd guitarists.

They did a short run of these in the mid 90's Michael. Fairly sure nearly all of them stayed in the Far East. I've come across references to them, think it was on TB or the Fender Japan forum. EDIT. More info available on the Strats and Tele's with the thought the were commissioned by a Japanese retailer http://www.strat-talk.com/threads/mij-paisley-gold-stratocaster.247973/

I got some aggro on a sales thread (not pm!) a week or so back. I bought a cab at £550. I sold it on straight away at £650. The price was negotiable, especially somebody making it easy, coming to collect. In between buying and selling it, I drove 240 miles to collect it. I drove 260 miles to deliver it. I spent over 12 hours (mainly looking at exhausts on the M6) between buying and selling. I spent pushing £90 on fuel. So for my 12 hours of efforts, I profited by just over £10. The guy who publicly gave me a hard time wasn't so keen on it when it was originally up at £700, from the original seller. OH, and I sold it straight away because I'd misjudged how big it was. So, stupidity on my behalf.
Haha 'Jose the Red'! I knew somewhere there would be 'another one' like me, only opposite... I love a P bass body, and a J neck. That's how this came into being, I simply bought two of them and swapped the necks over. I had a little fun with the Jazz bass first of course, adding the East pre amp, and a stringray style battery compartment routed through the back. Thanks as always to Karl the Equipment Sourcing & Customer Finding guru for his usual help - the guy should be on a commission! I knew Jose was going to go for the trade the moment he had the bass in his hands. His eyes lit up like a child at Christmas... and now I have a Big Baby to roll out at this weekends gigs. One is outdoor... I CAN'T WAIT!
I've done that hundreds of times over the years Steve. It's because I'm nosey It is VERY nice that occasionally somebody says thanks though, appreciated

I'm about to (probably) put a bass in a trade deal with a shop as there hasn't been a deal agreed on here. I will get the equivalent of around £1700. I'm happy with that I would be VERY surprised it my bass isn't out at around £2300+ in the shop. I would be equally surprised if they struggle to sell it. They have business costs and a profit to make. And a global market.
