The one Psychoandy has just put up for sale Mark

Good to know I have a heavy plastic anaemic sound . Epic fail after over 40 years of gigging. I must learn more.

Can I replace my 410 with a 210 and get the sound I want?
karlfer replied to Iheartreverb's topic in Amps and Cabs
TKS 112's didn't work for me. I found them lacking compared to other 112'S I'd used live. They are a bass cab. I expected them to be versatile, like many other bass cabs. I would love to get a custom specced TKS 212 but after my experience gigging the 2 x 112's, it's not something I really want to spend nearly £700 on. Horses for courses, guess I just like Clydesdales -
Hi Karl The label on rear of the driver is a "proper" Genz Benz logo, and states Model : GEC-12200-8 Impedance 8 ohms Engineered and tested in the USA Manufactured by Eminence Dongguan, P.R.C. Great lightweight quality cabs, very pleased with mine. Like you say will keep up with a very loud drummer
Damn Andy, you're good Many thanks for that, cheers, Karl. -

I've not used the Ashdowns I'm afraid. No idea what the speakers are, except they are ceramic. Not much use am I . There are quite a few testimonials from users on the Bass Direct site. The 112T's were showing at a price of £339 each, so yes, budget for Genz Benz at the time. But for the scuffs and nicks I would have been asking north of £300 for them. They do not come up very often at all. There is the script below (I've culled some of the talk about heads). Quote. "We’d been asking for less expensive cabinets and combos for the European market for some time, and Genz Benz dutifully obliged at this years NAMM. Such was the success of the new ‘FOCUS’ cabinets, Bass Gear Magazine awarded them a ‘Best in Show’ award, one of only 6 awards that they give out at the show. Here is what they [BGM] had to say on their forum: While I was there, however, I did hear both of the 112's together as well as the new Focus cab line. Very impressive. I predict the Focus cab line will be a huge seller. Even though they're not NEO, they're still very light and can really take the juice and pump out the sound. What really blew me away were the Focus cabs. They sounded like they belonged in a much higher price range, and the light weight and form factor was very nice. We ended up giving Genz-Benz one of our six Best of Show Awards for the Focus line of cabs, and I think they totally deserved it." End quote. -

2 x 112's are strange creatures. I had 2 TKS 112'S and although the sound was lovely, I REALLY had to drive an amp a lot harder to get anything like volume out of those cabs. Our drummer always has snare and kick mic'd up. Both guitards use Blackstar heads with 212's. Never had any problem with 2 x 112's by Berg, Vanderkley or Genz Benz, especially without pa support. Try as much as you can. -
Thanks Mykesbass - I think this could be very interesting as I know of Band Scrims but mine will be easily fixable & removable plus you can upload your own artwork online once I get the website up-n-running. Here's a pic of what I'm currently testing - excuse the in-yer-face graphics but the object was to make it stand out
Hmmm, might just keep my Genzs with you coming up with this cunning plan.
Is that a flea sig jazz? Took delivery of mine today, very nice indeed! Have a off topic bump
Thank you, enjoy yours
I'm sure I used a focus 2x10 for a while a year or two back. Really good for the money I think. These look to be a bit of a bargantino and not at all tatty!
Thanks Andy, sorry, I'm always a little critical of condition of my gear. Only going because a new project demands something vintage looking (as in cloth fronted). Suppose a Barefaced will suffice -

karlfer replied to karlfer's topic in Basses For Sale
Thanks chaps. Damon, thanks for that. I've advertised it elsewhere and a nice chap has put a message up that it is in fact a REX and they are over £900. Apparently this has the slightly different shape and pick ups , of a REX. I DON'T KNOW, but I've put a post up asking for expert advice, in the GEAR section. Whatever happens, the price will not be going up, even if it is the more expensive REX. Damon, you know where I am EDIT, another guy has just chipped in, quote "that's a REX signature dude" -
I took the following Spector in part ex for an expensive Warwick. The really nice guy owner told me it was a Legend 4X Holoflash. I've put it up for sale (my subs are fully paid) at a touch less than I gave him in part ex against the Warwick.. Somebody on another forum has told me it's actually a REX and worth a good bit more than I have it out for. I'M NOT LOOKING FOR; a valuation or hiking the price up. It stays at the price it's out at. What I would like to know is how to identify if it's a REX or a LEGEND, so I can advertise it correctly. Shoulda stuck to Fenders. Please help a confused old geezer Somebody else on the other forum, quote "that's a REX signature dude". Just taken this as part trade. I'm hoping when this is gone, I'm finished. Aye, right . Approx 2007, good condition but lots of light buckle rash on the back, couple of dints here and there. It's a well gigged bass. Not cosmetically mint be any means, BUT, that Holoflash does some cool? things I've done a quick set up and changed the strings. VERY easy bass to work on. Very well made Korean bass, neck thru construction. IMO a decent bass for this sort of price. They seem to be around £650 new in the UK, but not the easiest bass to find. Weight 9lb 4oz. I'm not getting any neck dive, but I do use very wide straps. SPEC. Maple body construction, Holoflash finish. Spector TonePump Jr. active tone controls and EMG Pickups. 3-piece maple neck through construction Rosewood fingerboard 24 frets 34" scale length 16" radius. Pearl dot neck inlay. Spector die cast bridge, 2 volume controls, 9-volt active - bass and treble Bridge pickup: EMG SSD Neck pickups: EMG SSD Pickup type: passive - dual coil Legend 4X Classic Electric Bass Guitar Width at nut: 1.56" String spacing at bridge: 0.70" Truss hex key size: 4mm Bridge hex key size: 2mm Comes with a fair conditioned Stagg gigbag. Any trial in Wigan. £325 collected from Wigan please, or £350 by insured courier BUT UK only I'm afraid. TRADES....................... I have some loot floating about, that somebody might like to take with the bass . Particularly looking at Barefaced or a 50's style Fender Precision. Feedback linked below, many thanks for looking, cheers, Karl.
I found the jazz sound very useable and want my next one to be modded to include it. On a precision, the series switch seemed less successful.
Bang on. GREAT on the jazz.
