Sold. Fender American Signature series Adam Clayton Jazz bass.
karlfer replied to karlfer's topic in Basses For Sale
Hmmm. Some options that are only available on even more expensive Custom Shop. Virtually as new except for that damn dint. Only a year old. Price asked is 38% less than a new one would cost, despite it's generally excellent condition. Yet still, only a couple of folk interested I can only conclude; few folk like custom colour Sherwood Green Metallic few folk like Adam Clayton -
Special order only now at GuitarGuitar, so the two have sold very quickly this evening. Implies more are available??
Ask them and let us know At one stage Andertons were showing "next delivery Aug 30th". Then they were showing "may be discontinued"
It's weird isn't it! I tweeted them and they said they are sure it is limited at the moment. Oh well, I've always wanted a shell pink Fender, always wanted a road worn, but didn't want to pay £1100!
Yes, very weird. The Flea was £882 The "normal" 60's Road Worn jazz is now showing around the £1200 mark. I've heard the normal Road Worn (50's P , 60'S J ) are soon to be discontinued. Fender, who can even guess, never mind know

Andertons are already showing that this line may be discontinued. Mind you, the Geddy and Marcus were limited runs. In 1998

I wish I could take decent photos Anyway, in the interest of comparing Road Wornness
Only 1 left at guitar guitar now, there were 3 this morning and 4 last night. I've never seen a bass sell this quick, it has to be this thread, right?
Yes, according to the splendid Danny at the equally splendid Kenny's Music (brilliant service!!!) this thread has contributed. Wish my bloody Adam Clayton would sell as quickly
I'm looking forward to setting this up over the weekend and giving it a proper test drive. Here are some more pictures....
Cracking job Warren , wish I had your camera and descriptive skills. I'm gutted, I got the heavy one at 8lb 4oz VERY late gig last night, with a Rockinbetter 4003s I raised from the near dead. Looking forward to a lot less work to get this splendid critter playing for me. EDIT, come to think of it, wish I had your sky!

Yup, nipped home for allotted time. Only had time to open, tune etc. Back at t'mill now. Finish here, out to gig so nowt from me until tomorrow. But, looks good, feels good, well built and nice acoustically. Hiram will no doubt do a great review tomorrow.

Not quite as Shell Pink as you would think, but gloriously light
There must be something wrong with my laptop screen here Karl, for a moment I thought YOU were agreeing you could be happy with one bass. you've practically got your own facebook shop
One may be a tad fickle

PLEASE SOMEBODY....................link to whatever happened in Milwaukee, I missed that thread and can't find it. It's keeping me awake at night

I'm in hiding
I know this is heresy, but you can be totally happy with ONE bass. I had just one bass from 1976 right up until I joined this forum six years ago and was perfectly content. Then of course everything went completely crazy apeshit bananas hat-stand. If you select 'the one bass' that will do everything you need - and stay off the internet, you'll be fine.
What he said (in a rare lucid moment)
Hi guys, Going to my favorite shop yesterday... find a new fender mex roadworn shell pink relic, wtf !!! ... ask to try her... and 1h later... my bank account was little bit lighter.... pick it tomorow.... cant wait....
Nice one
It depends what time DPD arrive, but I will certainly try and do the photos if they get here earlier enough - and weigh the bugger! I have a gig to get out to late afternoon, so fingers crossed.
I'm the same, get there and set up before the Wales game, play after it. Just what I chuffin need on a [s]NBD[/s] Friday
That makes two of us then :-) Ooh! Collectable too! Yes, I noticed that. Is that a result of Sterling be so rubbish at the moment?
Yes, guess it's the exchange. Having said that, I've noticed in the past Thomann were often a little more expensive on Fenders. Warren, I do hope you are going to do the NBD photos and reviews, cos I'm crap at that stuff (esp photos ). Your public awaits with baited discreet trousers
I've just received an e-mail from Kenny's. Mine is arriving tomorrow. Karl - I blame you!
I've got the same email. I blame me Last time I looked at GAK they were "available to order". Heard THAT before! They are also describing it as a Factory Special Run Andertons had 2 left an hour ago. Thomann had them in this AM, but £60 more expensive.
-
There's the rub John. There must be SOME reason they are £300 cheaper than the Mex Road Worn Jazz. And I'll bet a good bit of that equates to a heavy bass. You will know early next week
-
I simply paid by card, which gets me the bass and gives me the time to sort funding Between the gig money I have, the gig money before my bill is due, and putting up a "tribute" bass on Facebook, I MIGHT get away without selling my Clayton Jazz
-
Everone's a comedian Well done Gareth. Photos and report down to you (phew !)
-
You're in a queue Martyn, the Wigan Bass Massive (well, Damon, Paul and Mark) are already wanting a go
-
I've just had mail from Kenny's. They've had mail from Fender. They are getting them in early. Mine should be with me Monday or Tuesday

OK, me personally; I was gutted with the dink on my Adam Clayton, BUT, this Flea job. Boxes ticked; a colour I like good pick ups Jazz bass stack knobs good price (comparatively) road worn (so it doesn't matter when it gets dropped or is used to beat the drummers head to keep time) ime higher end Mex's in general are very good So it's not really anything to do with Flea, it's just a good sum of parts for me. So, my own reasons
Kennys Music evolved from the old Sound Control stores - think Kenny was an old employee, so they're very well established. I actually bought my first bass - Westone Thunder 1A - from Sound Control in Glasgow way back in 1985. Back on point, the Flea sig does look decent - love a pale finished relic and this appears to be insanely well priced for what if offers. Just know a 2EQ Ray will sound better for Flea stuff tho'....
All very good, but I have no idea who Flea is*, I just love the spec of the bass. (* That's obviously a lie, but I'm certainly not a fan ).

I lived in Scotland for a lot of years (Bannockburn, I was the English Unpopular Front) and Kenny's was pretty damn good. Think they have about 4 shops now. But yes, they came up as pre order available on a search. EDIT. And they no longer have 3 available for pre order, just 2,
