Damn it, that is exactly, and I mean EXACTLY, the bass I'm in the market for right now!
NickH, there is a lovely black/maple one, in Strood, linked on following page, lovely guy called Philip Niechoj. Bit pricier, but I'm sure you could discuss that with him https://www.facebook.com/groups/UKBassgear/ Good luck.

Need to move this bass on. They don't come up very often, I will provide links to both spec and a video demo (the guy is using the 5 string version but you will get the drift ) Price wise, well, it's around what US Jazzes are going for, and less than Millers seem to be going out. And £725 is only a bit less than what it owes me Good condition. Issues, well a couple of tiny dints you really have to look for. THE MAIN thing is previous owner has had the neck off a some time. When putting it back on, they have tightened up too much and cracked the poly lacquer at both sides of the heel where it joins the neck. Not exactly unheard of on Fenders. It would originally have had a tortie plate, sorry, I don't have that. It's Amber lacquer (really, just a darker sort of natural) which only seems to have been available 2004/2007. Quite light for an Ash body at 9lb 2oz. ACTIVE only. Barefaced Gen 3 Super Twin. My feedback is at bottom of the post. Any trial in Wigan, your rig or mine. I will meet up within 100 mile radius of Wigan. UK mainland insured courier will be an extra £35. Many thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. *WITHDRAWN* Lakland Bob Glaub (44-64) White/Maple
karlfer replied to discreet's topic in Basses For Sale
Of course you can do better photos, many folk have commented that I am to photography what the Gobi is to competetive angling . Anybody interested in this lovely bass, well, it is likely to be the only White Lakland Bob Glaub Skyline you will see. They only come in Black, Natural and Sunburst. So, you have the option of the much more expensive US, or a re-fin. If I'd kept it, it would have gained a black pearl scratchplate. Unlike discreet, I liked the shallow front to back, it was the nut width I couldn't get on with. A couple of years back, this would have gone in a day or so, at over £600. And they are harder to get hold of now. Somebody will be very happy with this great bass. -

Gutted this didn't work out for Mark, it really is a nice bass. Until he comes along with a good photo, here's something to get along with -
It's not a BASS guitar show. It's a guitar show. I've been to them in Crewe, Formby and Haydock. The one at Formby had 4, yes, 4 basses. Haydock will have more, but at £7 entry, not for me.
If you have a local model engineers society (the sort of old guys that like to build miniature steam engines) I'm sure someone would be able to whip up a new ferrule from a bit of brass and identify the correct thread for a replacement machine screw. If you are really OCD, and would be unable to live with an unplated brass ferrule, just buy a new tuner.

Karl - you are not the first person this has happened to! These 'tension' screws have a habit of working loose and escaping so it is always worth a regular check and tighten if necessary. I lost one on Custom Shop Classic and ending up getting in contact with Fender UK who were very helpful and sourced the replacement. If you don't get any joy with them, feel free to let me know and I'll see if I still have the email trail...........but it was quite a while ago! David.
Many thanks fellas, I'm on the case cheers, Karl.

Hope somebody can help. I've placed a wanted ad, but just in case anybody has any ideas. 2005 American Deluxe Precision. On the rear, bottom, of each tuner is a tiny screw that goes into the bottom of the tuner shaft. The screw goes through a little ferrule, the photo shows better than my ramblings. Right tuner complete, left tuner missing bits. Tried Allparts and Brabin and Rudd, but looks like I'm going to have to buy a complete tuner for 2 tiny bits. Schaller part no 006-3547-000 Any suggestions would be great please, cheers, Karl. No idea where you are based, but there are a lot of options and not just on here. Much more bang for buck buying used. For example, on the following linked page (you will have to scroll quite a long way down) https://www.facebook.com/groups/689090051102626/ a chap called Steve Musgrove has a cracking rig for sale in Northampton. Markbass F1 and 2 x Eden 112's for £425. Take your time, read as much as you can, and good luck.

Steve Harris P - Pick up differences between the two/three ?
karlfer replied to Deedee's topic in Bass Guitars
I tried one of the new (Mark 111) Mex Harris Precisions a couple of months back. The weight put me off, as did the unusually badly cut nut. 1st Mex I've ever tried with a nasty issue. The pick up was astounding! Most tonal variation I've ever heard on a passive P pup. I've tried a few -
I have what might be deemed a stupid question .... if I'm correct the BF uniqueness comes from a cone with a high excursion, i.e. movement on the z-axis or in & out to most of us. Is it possible playing at higher volume that these cabs will move? In my mind a light box & speaker violently moving back & forwards shifting air conjures up all sorts of images of BF cabs roaming the stage like demented Daleks
Lovin' the demeted Daleks vision
I used to agree. But ive found that even though i'm a "one trip" with my set up now, i still end up doing multiple trips to help everyone else. So am i really saving anything??? Nice looking rig though Discreet. Glad it's working out for you
Yeah, must admit, you're right. I help get in, set up, break down, take out our drummers massively large kit. If I didn't we wouldn't get home from gigs until Monday
Packed and ready for tonight's gig.
Searched online and found it listed as 27 pounds, but I'll weigh mine and double check.
Think you might find that's the shipping weight including case, although even that sounds high. Hang it off some luggage scales, not being sexist but I'm sure a female you know will have some luggage scales. Cos they are usually more organised than us blokes GLWTS

Not seen that model, but Fender P/J, best of both worlds for me

Recently acquired but not getting used. Recent set up/strings by Manchester Guitar Tech Steve Robinson who stated "it's a beautifully made bass". I actually believe this is from the 1995/1996 Fender Japan "The Collectables" series, but really struggling to find evidence. Plenty on the Strat, but can't find anything on this. Excellent condition for a 20 year old bass. Some little dinks here and there, but you have to look. BadAss is obviously not original. Lightweight for a Fender Japan Ash bass at 8lb 9oz. One of the pictures looks like it has writing on the back, it's a reflection of my t-shirt (Body of a God, shame it's Buddha). TRADES! I would like; Barefaced Gen 3 Super Twin in immaculate nick, cloth preferred but not vital. I would put a little money towards it, if I'm lucky enough to get an offer. Early Mex Road Worn Jazz (I've solved my rosewood board dilemma. £600 cash sale, extra £30 UK insured courier. Any trial in Wigan, your rig or mine. Feedback below. Thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. The "negative implication" is there for you. It's not for me. And to re-iterate my original on topic point, neither of there Blackstar's have been the height of reliabilty.
-
That's what The Shed Builder and I call them. They call us a lot worse. I hope you aren't offended.
-
Hmm, both of our gaytartists have Blackstar heads and cabs. One has clapped out 4 times in 3 years, the other keeps having intermittent faults. Look good but I would be very cautious personally.
