1. I spent 5 minutes cleaning up cat sick yesterday and funnily enough didn't get the same feeling Funny old world, innit?
2. I don't think there could ever be a one size fits all answer. On reflection had I not focused on playing I'd probably be 1) further up the career ladder and 2) still married to my 1st wife. I think I have the balance about right
3. I had one for a couple of years as my main bass. When we recorded our last album the producer who has perfect pitch was a bit squiffy about the intonation which was slightly laughable as that is part of the charm of these old 60s style hollowbodies. Anyhow I suspect it was down to the strings being duff but I sold it and returned to Fender. It played great and had a really sweet tone. Can't recall the pickup adjustment though, sorry.
4.
Nothing wrong with saying hello to the town where you're playing: "Hey! Feltham! Good t'be hyah!".
I'm always up for that too. I kind of agree with the rest although I can live with strats (I'm ducking for cover now)
5. Watching some players (Rich Robinson in the Black Crowes springs to mind) they change after every song. I have a gig next week where I'm on upright bass and bas guitar so I'll let you know For a pub gig I think more than 2 basses it can start to get a bit OTT but I guess players do what they feel is right.
6. I've just bought a bog standard brand new hard case so I'm now in a position where I can post this within the UK if that tips the balance for anyone?
7. I read a lot about how they don't fit properly online but they fit on mine no problem
8.
Digging in? Are you doing gigs in the Somme!?
Have bass will travel... and maybe make sandcastles in the process
9. Just chiming in as Lozz mentioned me but the SP210 / terror has been my only combination since 2010; I'd have gone for the 212 but funds didn't allow and I only have the one cab. It also holds up used for upright bass in a rock 'n' roll band so pretty versatile if you like that old school tone. I'd have thought indie, rock, reggae, country, blues - it is covered. Maybe not good if you want a more modern sound but I swear by mine. I switched from Ampeg and wound up selling it on as I simply don't need a backup.
10. I don't like the action too low so certainly relate to the first 3 points about working harder, not flying around and digging in a bit.
11. That looks great and correct me if I'm wrong but that must be at least the third bass you've bought since you joined Basschat
12.

Of course I regret that dress now!
13. Here's my old thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/111302-1979-fender-precision-re-mojod/page__hl__stripping+bass I used Nitro Mors but you'll need to do it outside and have patience / time. More importantly it depends what you are stripping. A cheap bass may look quite ugly once stripped, plywood hell! Unfortunately you never really know until the paint is off.
14. Does anyone have an idea on price and stockists? I have been considering getting an amp for my rehearsal room.
15. I play rock 'n' roll on mine - Eddie Cochran, Elvis etc and periodically in my Americana band. So I guess I fit the bill here.
16. Insurance companies insist on it. Photos too (which for most of us really won't be a problem!)
17.
What does everyone do when they switch between pick and finger style during a set, adjust your output or use a limiter ?
Having not touched it for the first 10 years of playing I tend to use that funny looking thing called a volume knob that is actually located on my bass. I just dial it back slightly and it works wonders. I felt a bit of a prat for not discovering it sooner.
18. I'm still puzzled by how you can have "wrong reasons" for discovering a band?! Some people do initially go on image. I blame MTV
19. The beauty of plectrums is you can get lots of different makes with a variety of different gauges that work well so mix it up fairly cheaply. I used to think it had to be a thick one but some plastics work well as light as 0.6 for me. I'm not precious these days and often just nab one off a guitarist if I feel a song warrants a pick and I've forgotten one.
20.
He's a whore!
Very good Nice bass btw but then Tom is a bit of a dude.
21. I have a couple of the Hercules folding stands and they are yet to let me down. I take them to gigs and rehearsals and have used them for a few years now.
22. I think disappointment might be the wrong word but certainly I've bought basses thinking they would be the answer to all my problems and then sold them on because they didn't get played enough. I've been GAS free for years now but reckon I've owned almost 100 instruments. The bass guitar I play the most now is a Squier but I went through a few vintage instruments (worried about them getting damaged or nicked) and some high value basses like Rickenbacker (ditto). I enjoyed the GAS thing at the time but it's a bigger relief to appreciate what I have these days.
23.
I always had a soft spot for the album 'from the inside' - kind of a concept album writen about a mental institute.
Probably my favourite AC album too
24. I've seen him in 2002 and 2013, I'm not much of a heavy rocker but really like the Alice Cooper band and his early solo albums. I didn't care too much for Poison et al but he had Dennis Dunaway and Elton John's bass player for a while so he's alright with me.
