1. I don't like the action too low so certainly relate to the first 3 points about working harder, not flying around and digging in a bit.
2. That looks great and correct me if I'm wrong but that must be at least the third bass you've bought since you joined Basschat
3.

Of course I regret that dress now!
4. Here's my old thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/111302-1979-fender-precision-re-mojod/page__hl__stripping+bass I used Nitro Mors but you'll need to do it outside and have patience / time. More importantly it depends what you are stripping. A cheap bass may look quite ugly once stripped, plywood hell! Unfortunately you never really know until the paint is off.
5. Does anyone have an idea on price and stockists? I have been considering getting an amp for my rehearsal room.
6. I play rock 'n' roll on mine - Eddie Cochran, Elvis etc and periodically in my Americana band. So I guess I fit the bill here.
7. Insurance companies insist on it. Photos too (which for most of us really won't be a problem!)
8.
What does everyone do when they switch between pick and finger style during a set, adjust your output or use a limiter ?
Having not touched it for the first 10 years of playing I tend to use that funny looking thing called a volume knob that is actually located on my bass. I just dial it back slightly and it works wonders. I felt a bit of a prat for not discovering it sooner.
9. I'm still puzzled by how you can have "wrong reasons" for discovering a band?! Some people do initially go on image. I blame MTV
10. The beauty of plectrums is you can get lots of different makes with a variety of different gauges that work well so mix it up fairly cheaply. I used to think it had to be a thick one but some plastics work well as light as 0.6 for me. I'm not precious these days and often just nab one off a guitarist if I feel a song warrants a pick and I've forgotten one.
11.
He's a whore!
Very good Nice bass btw but then Tom is a bit of a dude.
12. I have a couple of the Hercules folding stands and they are yet to let me down. I take them to gigs and rehearsals and have used them for a few years now.
13. I think disappointment might be the wrong word but certainly I've bought basses thinking they would be the answer to all my problems and then sold them on because they didn't get played enough. I've been GAS free for years now but reckon I've owned almost 100 instruments. The bass guitar I play the most now is a Squier but I went through a few vintage instruments (worried about them getting damaged or nicked) and some high value basses like Rickenbacker (ditto). I enjoyed the GAS thing at the time but it's a bigger relief to appreciate what I have these days.
14.
I always had a soft spot for the album 'from the inside' - kind of a concept album writen about a mental institute.
Probably my favourite AC album too
15. I've seen him in 2002 and 2013, I'm not much of a heavy rocker but really like the Alice Cooper band and his early solo albums. I didn't care too much for Poison et al but he had Dennis Dunaway and Elton John's bass player for a while so he's alright with me.
16. These things are always nonsense; it might apply to a few people but most of us will buck the trend in one way or another.
17. Having been GAS free for several years now I am slightly tempted with the Squier version and I don't even eat chocolate.
18. I managed to get my old 4/4 double bass in my ex-wife's VW Fox with relative ease. I should add this is not necessarily a reason why she is now an ex-wife. I think you'll find most small cars will take an upright bass if you sacrifice things like comfort...and hopefully not safety too much!
19. I take instruments as they come, I've had great heavier basses and great lighter basses. I probably default to preferring a slightly lighter than average P-bass but it's not the end of the world if it is coming in a little heavier than my ideal.
20. Should have probably added my feedback thread which shows me to be a real stand up guy... letters from my Mum available on request also http://basschat.co.uk/topic/62592-burritobass/page__p__1497234__hl__burritobass__fromsearch__1#entry1497234
21. I'd echo BigRedX's comments on the importance of test pressings. We usually get a track remastered for vinyl as well as there is no point having singles if they sound awful. Another tip is to offer a free download code with the single so the buyer can get MP3s too. You can set up something via sites like bandcamp.. It helps aid sales which you'll need as from experience we have suffered with excess stock of 12" and 7" on every vinyl release where as CD tends to go for re-pressings. As stated in the original post these things really are for vanity and because the band contains purists and never because it is a smart business decision.
22. I think people go through a crisis in their mid to late 20s over this, I know I did. I busted a gut from my teens until I was 2 trying to "make it". For me I got married and felt pressure from me to grow up. I'd done all the gig bookings, flyers, promotion etc and all my bandmates had houses and better jobs. I stopped for 5 years where I got both a house and a better job. I started playing for fun again at 32yrs old. Over the last 8yrs this fun has seen me sign an Indie deal, get primetime US TV coverage of the band, international radio play, tour the country and get rave reviews in the UK National music press for the last two albums. I think concentrating on my playing and having fun helped me much more than trying to make it. For me at least. I don't expect I'll ever make a full time living from it (2 bandmates do due to teaching & session work) but I'm happier with where I am.
23. bump
24.
I think he looks a bit like a muscled up Dee Dee Ramone! Great moves though!
I just thought Clarky had dyed his hair!
