1. Try giving these guys a call, really good service http://www.hi-speccases.co.uk/
2. I had a Fender Bassman 135 & I'm confused by this post. I normally had to turn it down. They are LOUD heads and we were doing some decent sized clubs. It did really well in smaller pubs too. Only sold it to fund my divorce
3. I'm confused.... ....there's a *third* chord? You crazy Jazz cats!
4.
So is the flight case for the cab not the head? Or both?
Just the cab. I like the bag for the head and figured it wasn't worth flight casing personally.
5.
Thanks man, I think I might go for one... any pics of yours around?
Only in about 1 in 3 of my posts
6. They were cheap BUT more importantly having had a few flightcases made, they did a 48hr turnaround - I'm used to 3wks. It was also a custom order as they'd not done that cab before. I can't recommend them enough. I've gigged it a fair bit & its holding up just fine
7. Now on the 'Bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Precision-Bas...3#ht_500wt_1156
8.
Yes, Burritos is a flightcase for the SP210 cab - nifty little thing it is too. Though am sure the same company would be able to make one for the head itself. I`m sure Burrito will be along soon, to advise who made his - he did tell me, but I`m afraid I`ve forgotten, though have a nagging feeling it was The Flightcasewarehouse.
And as if by magic http://www.hi-speccases.co.uk/ Hope it helps Wayne
9. I thought Wayne was sorted now? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...l=orange+terror (re my original post)
10. munkonthehill is looking for one of these (or was yesterday).
11. I live in a terraced house and I worry about noise. Or did - my neighbours are remarkably less concerned! So now I stop tip toeing around and just stick to sensible levels and times. Double bass and acoustic guitar don't really make all that much noise but my concerns with your list would be the trumpet and the sax. That said neighbours can be more forgiving if you are not 7yrs old and making up for lack of talent with sheer enthusiasm. The basic rule of thumb I think is have a set time you practice and don't deviate. After 9pm is rude and so is anything much before midday. Bear in mind some of your neighbours might work shifts - we don't all live in the 9-5 world. The council response might have appeared unhelpful but actually people don't speak to neighbours enough and it's amazing how much a simple conversation can pre-empty a lot of negative feeling. I've dealt with a few neighbourhood disputes professionally and they are a real pain. If you were to stick to a set time within the flat and go to your neighbours with this as a proposal I reckon you'd be surprised by the response. It shows you are considerate of their feelings. Sadly none of this seems to apply to the girl next door to me with her foghorn voice, getting herself in the most ridiculous domestics with her poor boyfriend and then the, ahem, making up part is carried out with similar volumes!
12. I use Rotosound flats exclusively now...sounds like I need an endorsement Never understood the Rotosound bating that goes on here sometimes. It'd be boring if we all liked the same gear
13. I've been playing with covers on for 15yrs. They only got in the way for about 5 minutes and then you get used to them. If you are having any doubts (your post doesn't suggest you are) you could use carpet tape to see how they look & feel. Actually just drilling straight into the bass rarely makes the holes messy but to guarantee you get a clean hole all you need to do is just made a small indent first where you are going to drill and then you wind up with a clean hole. Line the cover up where it goes and make an indent with a point. Take the cover off and then you can drill straight down into the indent. It's a fairly simple job but I must confess it is a bit nerve wracking on the first bass the very first time You'll be fine
14. Just stopping by to bump this thread back up there
15.
And featuring our very own Burritobass.
Great news for those kids who want that "Tim Emery sound" I knew the piece was coming, although I've lost 2 stone since that pic was taken so I'll have to request a follow up article!
16.
Let me know if you consider selling your '79 stripped P Si
I'd rather lose the house first!
17. Sorry, it doesn't say. Yes, UK only though
18. I once worked with a very snobby musician who told me he looked down on bands who use gigbags!?! Crazy! Personally I mainly use hard cases but do have a gig bag for my Jazz. Gigging it's always the hard cases though. That said my double bass is in a bag! It's never simple!
19. I'm in exactly that position now I have a couple of things that are not worth selling as they are worth more to me than the resale value - cheap acoustics and my 70s parts bass. However the stuff that doesn't get played so much or has a value is what goes. I can see my all original 1978 bass going (it's museum quality) but needs must. I'm holding on but.... I don't believe there is such a thing as a keeper. If you have to, it goes. Ultimately there are loads of good instruments out there so you just have to be sensible. I could sell a load and still have a bunch left so not all bad
