1. Welcome Dean Joining a band will help you. Playing with others is what musis is all about
2. My drummer never knows what key he is in. At least he doesn't rely on a capo!

Hi

Hi Chris & Welcome
4. I think it might be worth pointing out that these are the opinions of experienced players. If buying for the first time you should always try before you buy
5. I think his playing is bang on the money. This thread has it all for me - Dylan, McGuinn & I loved the Wilburys too
6. Hi Dave Nice introduction & welcome
7. Bumping for Betsey Trotwood in London on Friday. A record company showcase of 6 great Americana bands from our new label Clubhouse Records. Free entry & we hit the stage around 8.30pm.
8. I think my GAS peaked from 2004-2008. The last 18 months has been much calmer and right now there is nothing I feel strongly enough to buy. Those Hagstrom Viking basses look great but then I think I have a Hofner Verithin so the desire to own goes away. I'm into the idea of having a smaller number of instruments that all get regularly played and it's a good place to be.
9. Horses for courses, mine is great
10. Love mine *I mention it just on the off chance anyone wanted that BurritoBass sound
11. Good lord! And they even have a Precision!
12. I've found Orange quite helpful so why not go on their official site & ping them an email? They sent me a free bulb when the one went in my Terror Head
13. Sunday night bump. Open to sensibl offers. I must admit I thought these would be snapped up
14. Excellent, it'll look good on your CV. Well done you rock and roll burlesque gypsy voodoo jazz guy, you!
15. Ah, the age old problem. It seems to relate to how experienced the sound engineer is, at least from my experience
Just a thought. - what about Di ing from Fishman and using some sort of in -ear monitoring so I don't need the amp next to me?
I only ever D.I & use a monitor. I'd explore this option personally
i notice Al Gare, Imelda May's Bass player, plays electric these days, so.... he's either got an endoresment that was too good to turn down (seems to play one of the new Burns a lot)
He's playing a bass guitar a lot more but he still seems to mainly be on the upright. I saw him live just a few months ago unless this is a much more recent thing?
16. My band supported Wilko Johnson and Norman Watt-Roy a couple of years ago. Great players but again I'm of the opinion good players should inspire you to be better, not give up
17. Welcome Robert. Sounds like you have some great gear
18. It's a double post guys. TheBear has a welcome thread here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=130528
19. Rancid are my guilty pleasure & I like the look of this. I have no comment on the cost as all modern Fender basses seem over priced these days
20. I like the contours. I toyed with having them put into the slab body of my 51RI to give it a 54 / 55 look. This looks to me like Squier are just continually raising their game
21. If you've been playing 32yrs without one I doubt very much they'll suddenly start floating your boat now. Personally I can't imagine life without mine but I readily accept not every bass is for every player. Perhaps one with a hotter pickup might raise your interest a bit but I'd certainly look to avoid anything too traditional i.e. my tastes.
22. I think it's totally normal. I've just dragged my upright down from upstairs for a rehearsal tonight and it feels great. I'd usually default to a P-bass but I do enjoy my Hofner and my Jazz bass
