1. I had a 4yr break where I kept both my basses (been a while since I could say that!) and my amp. I've no plans to stop but I would always have a serviceable rig and at least one bass just in case I came out of retirement. I've played with bands who've had guys in their 70s onstage so I think there is plenty of life in my playing career. I do think it'd be a bit silly of me to keep more than 2 cabs and a head though.
2. Again I too have a second head that I use for that very reason. I also keep an eye out for anyone who looks like a bit of a numpty and have a friendly word too if the mood takes me. I think BB3000 S has the right idea though
3. Welcome Liam. My Neice is final year at Exeter too Great looking EBO. Love those MIJ P-basses and of course Ampeg & Orange

NBD

Looks great & belated birthday greetings
5. He actually sounds a little out of breath too. I assume he's been lugging it about!?

Oops

It looks great but didn't you know we have quite a lengthy pedalboard porn thread running already?
8. I've left a couple when the writing has been on the wall - you have to spot the signs or it's harder to remain friends, if that is to be an option.
9. and you have twice the chances of doing yourself a mischief lugging it around!
10. Sounds to me like you answered the thread question in the original post! Like Len_derby said, Life's far too short to spend time doing things you don't enjoy. I also agree with dlloyd's post about having fun, making money & being good - 2/3 is the minimum. Reading the original post I can only assume you are asking us to confirm a decision you have already made. Best of luck with it

Nice

I've seen a few finishes like that on the Nashville Circuit. I quite like it but probably wouldn't rush to buy one personally. Always a good way to get everyone to look at the thread if you just call it "Nice". "Unusual 5 string" would probably get half the hits! I'm sure I am far too descriptive with my thread titles!
12. I'd mainly echo the great advice so far. Forget multi effects looking at your influences. Personally I'd go for a combo amp if starting out (you can upgrade as you progress) and to be fair most of the brands on the market these days are at least half way decent. Look after it & you can flog it on when upgrading.
13.
C'mon...who voted 'other'? There's always one...
14. I'm intrigued by this thread. I like my Terror head a lot but certainly concur with the original post. So I contacted Watford Valves as having spoken to them before they clearly know their stuff. The recommendation I had back was http://www.watfordvalves.com/product_detail.asp?id=2325 and I've placed an order. If it's half as good as the description I'll be happy. I too own one of those Pro 40Db Inline Attenuator and have found it's only needed at some venues I've played. Pops right in the front of the carry bag & cheap enough to not have me panicing if I did happen to forget it one night.
15.
I prefer it that way... I'd rather have a long, comprehensive & evolving thread about a subject, rather than scratting about for scraps of info that go nowhere. Plus, it means whoever revived the thread has done the proper thing and searched first...
I'm in agreement here. It does occasionally make me laugh when someone replies to a quote from 3yrs ago but generally i think it works well. I revived an old thread the other week that hadn't been touched for a couple of years. I acknowledged this was what I was doing & even the OP said he was pleased to see it again! A lot of people have joined in the last year or two and it's always nice to get a fresh perspective. Plus it's interesting to read people's comments on the perfect bass that you also read about in the for sale section a few months ago!
16. Nice to hear the bass right up there! If I was the director I'd have made the upright (& player!) much more of a feature
17. Bumping this again. I've answered Slobluesine's queries via PM but for those wondering, the pickguard can be removed by me & I do have a right handed one. However the intonation would be out further up the neck so only consider this option if you want a cheap strummer. Ideally a left handed sale
18. Mine are about 8" and the same shape as my Dad's - and he was a drummer. I think people like neck profiles because it's oten what they are used to. I prefer a thicker neck but can get by on a skinny neck too
19. Nice variety going on there! All to my tastes
20. I missed this thread originally. Looks great IMHO. I won't be bidding but I do like the look of it
21. I too agree with Bassbus. If you have exactly the same settings every time then chances are you are not listening properly. I always used to have things flat. Then I started rolling back the treble and increasing the bass. Now I use an Orange Terror head and as stated earlier, it doesn't have the most dramatic of EQ variations which actually suits me.
