1. Well I approve whole heartedly
2. I can't believe you've all beaten me to it! http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~S...ass~ID~5360.asp
3. Right up my street! Retro thumpy aceness!
4. I commented on one once...do I get a prize?
5. We book short rehearsals so all the non focussed playing is kept out the rehearsal room. We get more done in 2hrs then we ever did in 4hrs
6. Welcome If you want advice you've come to the right place. Perhaps if you re post in the General Bass Discussion section about looking for a first bass you'll get loads of replies, especially if you mention influences, styles of music etc to give people ideas. You'll be more confused after but it's what I recommend
7. Welcome to Basschat
8. Welcome Mornats
9. Welcome back
10. Yes it was & it's an absolute steal at that price. My mate had one in his shop & I was sorely tempted but have enough basses. His was set up really well so you just couldn't fault it.
11. I think a lot of stuff from China & Indonesia is really good these days. Some players will turn their noses up because it's not USA made leaving great bargains for the rest of us. I played a great Aria Mosrite copy recently and I am also thinking of the cheap Hofner stuff that comes from China
12. Welcome Daniel
13. Welcome Chris Feel free to post pics of your basses in our gear porn section. I used to own a Burns Bison and we don't see too many of those around here.
14. I'm not a betting man but I bet at least two of these wind up in the for sale section by Xmas! Personally I don't think anything is ever set in stone. I'd like to keep a lot of my stuff but if circumstances change and the price is right I think anything is fair game, just so long as I'm left with at least one bass. If I was pushed to say one I'd say my original MIJ Fender Precision because it's been with me all the way & is worth more to me kept than it is to sell. My all original 1978 P-bass *could* go at a point in the future. I hope not.
15. Welcome We are lovely here!
16. You cynical lot. That's a genuine Hiscox case!
17. Welcome to the forum
18. I think it's often the case when you are used to a certain type of bass and just need more chance to find the time to bond. Having always played Fenders I had a major Epiphone phase around 2004 and managed to adapt quite easily. Often it comes down to just a good set up etc.
19.
Are you sure about that bridge cover? Mine is this way round:
I didn't realise my post would be so controversial. Rest assured the bridge cover on my tele style bass I own is the correct way around too but the original post was just to show a 1973 cool bass. Sadly I couldn't find one with a bridge cover the right way around & yet 3 examples with upside down covers. Must have still been coming down from the Psychedelic days! Rest assured folks if I was the said owner I would simply unscrew the cover & flip it around to look like the one in Happy Jack's post Move along people, there's nothing to see here...
20.
Bassic cables from forumite OBBM. http://www.bassic-bits.co.uk/
I'm another one for Bassic cables. The Chord Company too. I'd avoid the Fender Deluxe leads. They look great but mine both packed up inside of 18 months and couldn't be repaired.
21. Interesting that he first mentions "Four extra screw holes have been drilled behind the bridge" before mentioning the Swiss Cheese effect.

23. I thought this one summed up 1973 pretty well
24. We do a lot of pub gigs as an originals band and get paid. It's like chris_b said, if you come across as fun but professional I don't think it matters. Obviously we're not the band to see if you want to hear all the greats but if people like a well rehearsed pro band who put on a good show, we can absolutely deliver on that. Have fun & good luck
25. I'd rather the listings were left, especially as the mods quite rightly aren't deleting stuff. Just an edit to say "Withdrawn" or "Sold" rather than a re-writing of history. It never happened! I've always thought people do it mainly because they've seen others do it rather than any exciting other reason.
What is the relevance of the for sale price anyway? Everything I've bought and sold as been for a different amount to the initial post price.
It serves as a guide to potential sellers wanting to sell. Most of my sales go for slightly less than asking price but then there is no harm in listing with a similar asking price that that seller probably won't get either. We're normally talking £20 less not hundreds of pounds. I find it reall useful if I was selling a certain piece of kit just to gauge what the going rate might be. It's a ball park figure and nothing more.
