1. The irony is this thread will probably be the reality in a few months. I know what we're all like
2. I put some La Bella flats on mine. Really heavy gauge and I had to re cut the nut. Sounded awesome although it took it away from that traditional Ricky sound.
3. I too hung around in the Bassworld days but went away for a few years. It's great fun second time around Welcome
4. Happy Birthday for Monday. I hope you've got enough cake for everyone here!
5. I love those Antiqua Fenders. The CIJ RI Fenders were a lot greener but I like the originals. Hagstrom basses I know from The Eagles (although 4 string not 8 string) and I thought they were a pretty well known make. I also think Cheap Trick and 80s Glamsters Enuff Z'Nuff, if you'll forgive the obscure reference.

I've used one of these on a recording session. Nice bass actually. Obviously I wouldn't play it live. Image, y'know
6. using the same theory as this seller http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-PRECISION-BAS...533796740282929
7. I agree with Doddy here. I'd add this site as great for second hand too
8. Annoyingly the seller hasn't been in contact yet to acknowledge my payment so I hope there isn't a problem. It's been 7 days tomorrow. I too would like to know how to play 12 bar
9. Hi Kyle - Welcome to the forum
10. I mainly play with fingers but I strung my bass with Rotosound black nylons for the recording of our last album. I used a pick on a couple of tracks. There were no obvious problems with the string life from what I could tell (& I played them a lot). However the tuning tended to fluxuate a bit if I dug in hard.
11. There was a member join recently who called himself Spacehog. I had to go on wikipedia to see if he was from the band...he wasn't.
12. To answer the questions on volume I have one of the old 90s USA Ampeg SVT 210 cabs and I've taken mine out with a 5 piece band a few times. I've had 3 different soundmen comment on how good it sounded. Mic'd up it absolutely delivers and in smaller venues it holds its own without going through the PA. I don't know about these new ones but if I sold mine it'd be about £100 more than Lozz wants! And the modification to have it on it's side is exactly what I would have done. So have a BUMP on me
13.
MB1. Never had any Problems with these guys! had several covers made! A1 Excellent covers and Top Notch customer Service! ROQSOLID www.roqsolid.co.uk ............ Contact Bryn on 07748155864 Contact Lee on 07929253434 Roqsolid Unit 8f Carr Mills Business Centre 919 Bradford road Birstall West Yorkshire WF17 9JX. And before you ask ! i dont work for them no!
I don't work for them either & I think they are brilliant. I've bought about 5 times now & they messed up the last order. I was immediately despatched a replacement before I sent back the original. refunded my postage and had a phone call apology. I would always use and recommend them. And re the original post, I'm afraid I too have been messed around by Shaun Dunk. At least I now know it wasn't personal since coming to Basschat!
14. It amazes me that people spend mega bucks on basses and cool rigs only to skimp on cables. I suspect most on Basschat know better but I certainly see it at the gigs I do. I would only use one in an absolute emergency and I actually carry quality spares so it really would be an emergency!
15. 2x 45mins is the standard in my experience but if there are a few bands on the bill it is very different obviously
16. Welcome to Basschat Have you done a thread for an Epiphone T-bird in the items wanted section? They tend to go for around £150 and pop up quite a bit. Nice to see the Orange logo too!
17. Welcome to Basschat If you want advise on a bass, start a thread stating your budget, what style & players you like etc and you too can have several conflicting opinions to confuse you further. And you are very welcome!
18. I bought one and in the spirit of what the original post refers to sold it on inside 10 months. A great bass but I was too far down the line with Fender basses for it to be anything other than an occasional player. And I'm not the kind of person who can afford to have £1500's worth of bass just lying around. I know the recession has kicked in even more but it held it's value and I only lost about £120 selling it on. I used it on one track on my new album so at least I have the memories
19. I was so into I Should Coco when it came out. I found In It For the Money a bit of a let down but still enjoyed it. However I saw them on that tour in Cambridge and they were blown off stage by Spacehog, a band who's album I thought was weak but put on one of the best live shows I have ever seen. Supergrass by comparison looked like they didn't want to be there. I've still bought the albums and liked some of the songs. I think my expectations of them live really took a knocking that night
20. Delighted to hear the happy ending. Your mate owes you a couple of pints though
21. Bands for me would include The Beatles Bob Dylan Johnny Cash New York Dolls The Clash Dogs D'Amour Jesse Malin The Byrds Steve Earle Rolling Stones Spot my angsty teenage years
22. I'm surprised it took 16 posts before Charlie Watts came up!?! I too would add him Jim Keltner and Levon Helm who have all been mentioned. My one who hasn't been mentioned yet is Gene Parsons.
23. Skip Battin Klaus Voormann James Jamerson Duck Dunn Howie Epstein Rick Danko (occasionally)
24.
Anyway, lovely bass. I would rip the Badass off ( a no go on Jazz basses IMO) and stick some covers on it!!
Me too
