1. Sounds like a silly internet rumour to me
2. I don't know about making a claim but I took out a policy with Musicguard last year as we gig / rehearse / record so much. Jim my guitarist has a policy too but the others don't. I figured it was peace of mind
3.
And a price?
He's got it down for £790 in the link in the OP so presumably that...unless there is a discount for Basschat members of course?
4.
It doesn't answer the question but I saw the Manic Street Preachers at Brixton Academy on Friday night and he was using an Italia Maranello bass in silver sparkle:
Very much a later bass. He was all about the Ricky at first and seemed to be using Jazz basses come Everything Must Go. Personally I was a massive fan circa The Holy Bible but lost interest once they grew up. I liked the trash glam look of the early days.
5. The Linebackers were around that time (I was in Sixth Form late 80s early 90s). They had a poor reputation but a friend of mine who was regarded as a good bassist at the time had one and swore by his.
6. I think it depends on how quick a sale you want. I too would lean towards the £600-£650 mark but it with the recession stuff isn't shifting so quickly. £575 would shift it quicker but you may wish to hold out for a better price
7. Obviously people go on about the JV ones from the 80s, the Silver Series were nice too generally. I've had a couple of Korean Silver Series which were good. I think the quality dropped slightly in the 90s but they have really come back with the VM series etc. Generally though even the Affinity ones have something to offer.
8. I went to a friend's 40th last night. She wanted to sing a couple of tunes & have her husband play guitar. As he can't play & she can't sing I was brought in as a ringer to sort of up the musicianship. Thankfully it was a very supportive crowd & I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. That said, I wouldn't want to see it on YouTube anytime soon.
9. If I were in the market for one I'd snap this up. Very cool
10. I remember an Alien Sex Fiend single in the 80s that was just the note of A for 3mins. 16ths too!
11. Welcome Stuee Great introduction. Sounds like you've had a varied & interesting time, and have some great gear
12. I don't want to be friends with everyone who sees the band so we have a page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=1732...3536&ref=mf that we use to promote gigs etc. Seems to work for us although it's a fairly minimal effort. Only the singer and I have access to moderate it, the other band members are just members. Too many chiefs otherwise
13. All mine are in hard cases. Probably more a knock on effect off GAS then for any reason (i.e. the buying of the cases).
14. I remember when he turned his back on ill fitted toupes!?!
15. I'm 99% certain to be in on the Saturday. Can I suggest Basschat members walk around with their left hand raised so we know who each other are?
16. It's come up on a couple of threads to very mixed opinions.
17. I've just bought an old 60s copy of his vinyl album "How to Play Electric Bass", an interesting curiosity piece if nothing else
18. No! It's Friday night, you must have been drinking & you'll regret that in the morning!
