Hi

Welcome
2. My 78 has it below the serial number but the decal where it says "made in usa" has come away. I wouldn't be surprised if this is what has happened with yours
3. Having spent most of last year seriously downsizing I wasn't really looking to get new stuff. However my little mini rig, an Orange SP210 cab always needs to be put on a crate and the obvious solution seemed to be to flightcase it. I have flightcases on my big rig but I really wanted Orange laminate rather than the traditional black this time. As luck would have it I came into some money at the weekend that I wasn't expecting. It cleared my credit card's recent hammering with a MOT, service and plummers bill. As a bonus there was enough left over to get a flightcase sorted. I went to Hi-Spec cases who left all other companies for dust. It arrived 36hrs within placing the order! And as a further bonus I've been on a bit of a Beatles fixation for a while. I've had the Rickenbacker stage but like that early stuff too. So put in an order in Germany* for a little Hofner bass which was covered by the remaining cash. Great fun although the short scale is a challenge. Perhaps a little like riding a moped - Enjoyable stuff but I wouldn't want my mates to catch me on it! I occasionally do some soul, 60s poppy sessions with a mates band and I figured it would be useful for that. I'm well into my 60s Psych right now so it may yet venture out live. *It's not hand made in Germany but I bought my Chinese Hofner from Thomann for that vintage vibe!
4. Welcome to Baschat David
5. Welcome to the forum
6. My band is; Drums or occasionally cajon Bass guitar or occasionally upright bass mandolin or banjo electric guitar and on some songs lapsteel acoustic guitar & harmonica all this is occasionally augmented with onstage keyboards and we've got a trumpet on the new record. The last one had fiddles and pedal steels. I think I can tick the box on the traditional format and it's nice to play with different players
7. Patch bought my singers Epiphone Hummingbird from me via this site. Prompt payment (nicely gifted too!), good comms and all round good chap to deal with. Nice one!
8. I too have an old Sony camcorder that must be 7 or 8yrs old. Great sound & picture quality
9. Nice
10. They've been on EBay for years but I've never seen a bass with anything other than chrome (or nothing obviously!)
11. Classic. Every home should have one
12. Bump for Leicester this Friday at The Donkey
13. We play all over too. A bit of a lull in attendance after Xmas which is always the case in January but the promoters were happy & said we were their busiest night in weeks. No problems with bookings old & new although struggling to get on the festivals
14. It's offline for a few weeks whilst Ped is away. There is a post about it somewhere
15. Good man!
16. I dropped my 51 P-bass at my last gig & bent the jack plug in the lead but I've never heard of the pickup falling out. Normally it's the jack plug socket that falls out on these - a design fault like the telecaster
17. My original Precision has been with me for 20yrs & unlikely to go anywhere. I still gig it occasionally too. I do think keeper is an occasionally overused term here as per the OP though
18. And I'd at least pretend to be drunk if I was caught wearing that shirt...

20. Welcome
21. My current drummer is awesome & I have been lucky over the years.
22. electric jug ala the 13th Floor Elevators
23.
What are the pitfalls?
Oh & do get one with a case! Otherwise you'll have fun trying to find one later & might detract from what was initially a bargain
