It used to be across the thigh as I thought that was cool but it's got higher. For a long time now (years) I have it so the strings go across the fly area. I think because I got into bad habits in the early days they've proven tough to break

The gauge is in theory to reflect the tension you'd get on standard bass strings. They feel a bit different but you get used to them very quickly.

I too wondered about this but to be honest at the bigger shows I just go through the PA anyway. Those SP cabs are actually louder than the Orange 1x15 cabs anyway. I do like the idea of a second cab though, either a 12 or another 10

Marcus M[u]u[/u]ller was on here a while back but that's another story & a whole other can of worms

It's interesting the examples of working with convicted sex offenders and extreme political bands. It's not really something that comes up that much & the reality is musicians have to eat. It's interesting reading the Motown house bands comments on those legendary sessions. They were Jazz players after all.

As a semi pro I get to pick and choose which I like. My Dad was pro in the 60s and wound up mostly playing with acts he hated. He stopped playing and has rarely played since. However if my income depended on it I'd certainly play with acts I didn't like. I think it's a different issue when it comes to bands with Nazi links etc and I would draw the line there personally. But in terms of would I back Boyzone etc, sure, why not? I'd charge 'em extra mind!

I like the new colour finish too Personally I'd have refinished the headstock as a matching colour and stuck ashtray covers on it but I doubt others would share my tastes. Loving the two stack knobs and the rosewood

I've got the 90s USA Ampeg 2x10 cab and it's great. I always fancied one of these. Good price

It's looking good. The pickup cover is a Jazz one though, not that it bothers most. Black & chrome always looks great

They went from MIJ to CIJ & back again and there is an interim period where you can find both markings on the same model

To an untrained eye it appears sunburst. I'm guessing you're not keen to keep the original finish?

My early bands were more in the spirit of Guns N Roses. I did Glam & Punk stuff. The last few have seen me play upright bass at times with banjo, mandolin, pedal steel & fiddle. No real advice, I just roll with things as they happen. I wouldn't have guessed the last ten years of my playing if I'd have been given a million pounds but it's just the way my tastes have changed. I could go off tomorrow & play in a 60s Psych band or a folk act - as long as I like the band I'll give it a go.

Depending on well or badly I know songs I've written keys on set lists or written the harder to remember bits on blank postcards I have onstage. I've been with my current band for a while now and although I take the postcards along to gigs they haven't left my bag since October.
