1.
Note: it's not Wilko Johnson on guitar!!
It's Gypie Mayo and he now lives in Bath where he teaches guitar. The bassist is the original guy John B Sparks but I haven't a clue on the bass
2. I think if you regularly gig it, it's difficult but if it's a while since you've done the song then hearing it again is a bit like seeing an old friend. Sometimes anyway
3. He's had a banjo bass & a resonator bass which I approved of. This one leaves me feeling pretty indifferent
4. I too have one clipped on a double bass bridge. I occasionally use one on bass guitar. I suspect dave_bass5's singer's guitar isn't set up so well
5. welcome to the forum feel free to post pics of that kit in our bass porn section
6. Hi Ed, welcome to the forum

Hello

Welcome to Basschat edit typo
8. Hey Bulldog - The Beatles for some reason I can't think beyond that tune.... must be good!
9. I use Rotosound flats exclusively now
10. I'm a bit alarmed by your current avatar but welcome to the forum
11. Welcome to Basschat Tim
12. I had Sunday lunch with my retired parents today and Dad was telling me about an African School where the kids paid fees. It was 25p a week unless the family couldn't afford it, in which case it was free! A lovely story, I thought. In terms of the free lessons here in the UK, I wonder if there is an alternative for lower income people. I think free lessons would really put a few professional tutors out and I agree with Endorka about people not always valuing things that are not free. It's difficult in this current climate (my wife & I have had one of many belt tightening chats just prior to me coming online). I think you would be better off offering discount lessons or pay for 3 get 4 type deals. Or the alternative is present lessons to a different audience like linking in with the local Youth Offending Teams or Inclusion Units in schools, rather than presenting lessons in the traditional sense. I'm just thinking outloud here and certainly don't present such a suggestion as a finished thought.
13. Great story. I can think of a couple of Basschatters that would love this thread & are yet to comment
14. I'm surprised by the general focus on the price. Granted the "Price Match Promise" is a bit silly but my first thoughts are it looks cool as hell. He could charge a third of that, it's still out of my league so I have no thoughts on his pricing
15. Very nice & no, not at all I do like cream covers on P pups
16. A thread cropped up last night BUT again it was as long as your initial comment followed by me saying "oh that's cool". I'd love to know more.
17. It's all down to personal taste. Personally I always favour passive
18. I can't believe so many people are just focussing in on his hat you've obviously not noticed his cardigan?
19. Looks cool. Do you know any more about these?
20. I think it's quite a talent to get a bassline note perfect but I always prefer the creative process of putting my own stamp / twist on something.
21. I don't object to it. Wouldn't buy it mind
22. Welcome to the forum
a great place to buy that cab I might add, the for sale section always has good gear at great prices.
100% agree
23. I too stumbled across his site the other week. He doesn't get mentioned here and must be one of thousands of forgotten heroes.
24. I find my MG ZS takes it perfectly if I drop down the back seats and have the headstock slightly over my handbrake. I have also got it in my wife's VW Fox with the passenger seat reclined back fully coming in from the boot. It's just a case of being persistant and looking at a problem logically. Bizarrely my singers old upright bassist used to go around London on the tube with his on the shoulder straps which is impressive to say the least!
