1. Awesome cabs... so have a bump on me. I appreciate the OP mentioned weight but they aren't that bad. I've actually flightcased mine!
2. I can't see us being on before 9pm and bar a short break we play until the pub closes Come up & say hi if you do pop in
3.
A most excellent combo if I may say so. Caught a great gig yonks ago at the Sunday CDAMTF country bash in London and once again at the 12 Bar (acoustic). Picked up a copy of 'Tunes For Charlie Spencer'... it forms part of my pedal steel practice backing track list, which is a compliment, honest...
Thanks for that. If you practice along with the Charlie Spencer album we should get you to sit in on some songs next time we play London
4.
Next gig will be dubstep on a keytar....
Steady!
5.
Tonight I filed a paypal claim to try and get my money back.
He settled on the last day of the claim with me which I took to be him playing the system. A shame as he offers a good product when he can get his act together
6. I ain't 'fraid of no ghost Ahem!
7. It just pushes a thread back up to the top of a list and reminds people the item is still there in the hope of a sale
8. BUMP! Back for Swindon tomorrow night (Thursday 6th January) at the Beehive.
9. OK I'm not a left handed player so I'll come clean and say these belong to my singer. I can vouch for him or I wouldn't attempt a listing. He's just bought a Gibson Hummingbird so decided to have a bit of a clear out of a couple of his acoustics. First up is a Tokai J200. I gather it's about 7yrs old and cost around the £400 new at the time. No pick up but it does come with a fitted hard case. Collected price £180 or add £20 for Parcel Force 24 delivery UK mainland only. [s]Secondly is his Epiphone Hummingbird. I was with him when he bought this in Dawsons Reading a couple of years ago. He's since had a nice Dean Markley pickup fitted (plug in through the strap button, no EQ but no sound colouration either) which cost £100. And again it comes with a fitted hard case. He's looking for £180 collected or add £20 for Parcel Force 24 delivery UK mainland only. Epiphone don't do a left handed model so this was professionally reconfigured at Sticks & Strings in Thatcham. It's a great strummer for the money IMHO. [/s] We're both in West Berkshire but Pete works in West London so I suspect there would be some flexibility there if someone was keen. Oh & we're live in Bristol next Thursday (13th) if that helps anyone? I appreciate being left handed they will be of limited appeal to most but should hold some real interest to those that are looking for a decent budget acoustic that is left strung. PM me if interested, I am on this site far too often so will always get back to you the same day.
10. My Dad was a Jazz drummer in the 60s and likes Art Blakey's stuff a lot. He was always trying to get me to listen to the bass. I'm sure he loves having a dumb rock n roller for a son! It all sounds very impressive to me these days, whilst not strictly being "my bag". RIP
11.
I wonder what the MD of Ampeg or Aguilar look and sound like then. Still I guess they usually don't play them
Worringly similar with that annoying bonus of thinking they are a bit rock 'n' roll because although they are MD's. they run music companies.
12. It also depends on the gear you use. When we recorded our album last summer I was pleasantly surprised by my bass playing in isolation but at last night's rehearsal using an old Laney head through a cheap 4x10 it sounded awful. Thankfully the singer's guitar sounded even worse but it really was a wreck!
13.
I take it he's a guitar player trying to play bass?
That was my immediate thought.
14. Welcome to the forum
15. Welcome to Basschat Love the picture, I've always fancied one of the pink paisley P-basses. I had a blue flower one that I eventually sold on that played beautifully.
16.
God ........... I love Neil Young and wish I could be in an NY covers band. I like the track - difficult to say too much about the musos, etc as the recording is not that great, but what stands out to me is how good the vocals and harmonies are - absolutely spot on - well done
Plus one to all of that
after a few beers, after not too many rehearsals!
The way it should be

18. Welcome to the forum Cade
19. I bought Ian's Aphex Punch Factory pedal after advertising here for one. Great comms, fair price & he posted within about an hour of me sending payment. I would definitely buy from him again
20. Just to add to the many, many negative comments about BGM's subscription department, I recently decided to ignore the numerous comments on this thread about the subscription and took the plunge. I buy the magazine every month so why not, I thought!? I placed the order on December 18th to start on issue 62. I then saw it in my local shop on the 22nd. I phoned last week & promised a call back I never got. So I phoned today & was told my order was "yet to be processed". I know we've had Xmas (the bad weather won't affect an unprocessed order though) but thought that was pretty poor. I've arranged for it to kick in from issue 63 now & bought 62 locally. Not a great start. I've said it before & I'll say it again - I miss Bassist!
21.
Indeed it is still on here, although I think it's had at least 2 owners since your good self, before coming to me! It now has a Seymour Duncan quarter pounder fitted and some very bling peacock blue DR strings, is much loved and used everytime we go busking, as it gets loads of attention.
Glad to hear it is getting used & still on Basschat
22. I agree it is annoying when live stock updates are incorrect. I had this with Guitar Village and Soundsdirect so certainly not exclusive to GAK. It's also proof that phoning ahead first is essential when buying online. Pleased you were able to find one
23. It's marked as "Sold Sold Sold" Fagen & thankfully the seller hasn't done that annoying trick of editing the post beyond saying it's sold or asking for it to be removed. This means other potential buyers / sellers can at least see how much these may go for. Good luck finding one
24.
I always thought the sp cabs would have a smaller sound due to the speaker layout.
600w and they don't. Try one. SP stands for smart power. They are qute clever
