1. Especially good if your band has a sideline selling Ice Cream?
2. I love Teles and I love bass but that's a tad too modern for my tastes. The pickguard and colour works for me though. I could tweak to my tastes I guess but I prefer a more trad bridge and a more subtle pickup. I guess everyone has to have a Paisley pickguard in Brad's band?
3. Very pro. I hope you don't mind my OCD kicking in but I feel a need to embed all videos on Basschat
4. Tone is important to the individual. It's not the cake but it could be the icing. I do see logic in the OP post though. I do enjoy the quest for finding sounds similar to those I like, to putting my stamp on a sound and to talking about it on a Bass forum. It isn't what drives me though.
5. Welcome Felix - Feel free to post pics of your 1976 Precision in our gear porn section.
6. And it's sold! (not me - I'd be scared of customs charges!!!). Looks pretty legit to me but I'm better with later gear, I must confess
7. Nice basses & I too have an Orange Terror head and Ampeg cabs. All good fun
Morning guys/girls
At the risk of exposing you as a pit dweller, tis nearly an hour into the afternoon at the time of your post!
8. Fingers crossed the crowds are too
9. Welcome
10. Bass. Cable. Amp. Job done. Nothing against effects but just not for me
11. We don't gig in December due to people's family & work commitments (the drummer is Santa!) so we miss out on all the weather causing bookings to be cancelled. We're not exactly a good time party band so we step aside for those who are.
12. I own a fretless that has been fretted by the previous owner. The dots will be out of line but you learn to adapt. Less of a good idea if you play a lot of different basses - so two others isn't a big problem. I'd think very carefully before proceeding though.
13. I look forward to the review Kev. I was tempted by the green Hutchins hollowbody myself but they are a bit of an unknown brand for me - I've read about them but not played one
14. Hi Mike, welcome to Basschat
15. Don't believe I got as far as the order but phoned up to stock query & the guy I spoke to was very helpful & professional. I didn't place the order as I handle my GAS better these days but he said any order placed before 2pm is despatched same day.
16.
The Terror is great, makes life so easy, and coupled with my Sansamp sounds great.
Good to hear I'm still yet to get mine in rehearsal as my mob stop in December. Roll on the New Year!
17.
NO HIPPIES ON BASSCHAT
That's why this guy was on Talk Bass then?!
18. Are you no longer happy with the Orange Terror or just looking for an alternative?
19. Welcome to the forum Kiat
20.
My worry would be that he would end up looking like a hippie.
Some days that is the look I'm going for!
21. Looks good to me. The other alternative is a brillo pad just to take the edge off a shiny substance
22.
Also - where's the best place to get them?
EBay was where I got mine. I like bass strings like gurders so these suited me. That said I'm happy with my 55-110 gauge Rotosound flats which seems to be my string of choice these days
23. I wouldn't be put off any bass I could try for myself but with the Jedson there are a fair few flagging up warnings so I wouldn't buy online. If you could try it in person you might get a rare exception but I would very much look to proceed with caution. Or hold out for what is good.
24.
Well I`ve spent stacks of money on different basses, only to realise that the very one I coveted from the first, the humble Fender Precision, is the bass for me. With all the basses I bought, I always went for a specific sound, and they were never quite there, as it was the P sound that now realise I wanted. Still, it was fun, if costly, getting there.
+1 to all of that
25. I've no idea but it might well be over priced
