1.
your rigs always look so cool BB. Mighty preddy.
Why thank you... I do try!
2. I kind of like it Prior to clicking the link I did wonder if it was going to be a Fender Precision
3. Following the "death" of my old 90s Ampeg SVT USA head my back up rig for smaller gigs is currently looking like this;
4. I've been playing The Beatles all week and that isn't a typical McCartney bassline either. I've never heard him play so straight! I like the bass whatever it is.
5. Cathal bought my 2006 Fender Precision bass today. Easy to deal with, hassle free transaction and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
6. You must mean Bassworld? Welcome back
7. Welcome to the forum Nathan
8. I've always bought my bodies from the various sellers on EBay & done well out of it too
9.
Had one of these a couple of years ago I should not have let it go best small gig and practise too I have come across
Plus one. Awesome tone & loud as hell Good price too
10.
Well I've thought about 2nd hand and even though you get more bang for your buck there's (quoting Trent Resnar) "nothing quite like the feel of something new". So far I've narrowed it down to a few: Fender aerodyne jazz Fender highway one jazz Ibanez btb 700dx Ibanez btb 670 Ibanez srt 900dx Has anyone played any of these
I know the Fenders well. You'll get a nice bass with that budget. Just to confuse you further I'd also consider the MIM Classic and Deluxe range too as they are seriously good players. I prefer them to the HWY1 (purely my tastes, others may not agree). And they will fall within your budget
11. To be honest only you can really answer that. I wouldn't be against the idea personally but the risk is that you wind up spending more on upgrades than the original bass. It becomes the equivilant of the £400 Vauxhall Nova with £4k worth of body kit! I'd scour EBay for bits and focus on the weaker areas of the bass rather than a complete overhaul.
12.
Agree with all the above. One thing i will point out is to check the size of the PG cut out first. I say this as ive just changed the pup in my Squier CV P and the replacement pup wouldn't fit the cut out. The replacement is a Wizard (well worth going for over a Fender IMO, and cheaper) and is a standard Fender size. I had to file the cut out which although wasn't hard to do, it did involve a lot more work.
I also had to do this for a MIJ pickguard. Not a huge job or problem although initially a bit annoying. I too have a couple of Wizard pups & I like them a lot. I think it's only original USA pickguards where you don't have to file the pickguard. And I'm with Bobby K on the tone capacitor being a cheap mod. You can get them on EBay for a fiver
13. I agree with both the issues raised that 1) Ibanez are great for the money (my friend runs my local music shop & he swears by them) and 2) try them both back to back ideally with a friend. I'd also echo jezzaboy's sentiments that you have to be pretty unlucky to walk away with a dog these days.
14.
Does this count!?
With those black nylons & that pickup I bet it has a real 60s thump to it
15. double post alert!
16. Before I clicked the link I assumed it was live & not a studio recording! I'll embed the link for people if you don't mind
17. Bonjour! (my French ends about there!) Welcome to Basshchat
18.
I think this thread has done it's course really. The OP has hopefully realised that BassChat *isn't* a marketplace with a forum tagged on - it's a thriving community of discussion that happens to have an area for selling goods. Coming along and shouting your mouth off (capitals=shouting) about not being able to sell an instrument will not, as has been clearly been seen here, be met with open arms. If anyone has an issue with how the forum is running, then it's best to PM the Mods or Admins, who will be happy to discuss further. George, if you spent more time getting involved with the community, it wouldn't take long for you to realise what a great place this is to be. However, If it doesn't suit what you want or need, You are not being forced to stay here - but there's more than 10,000 people who log in to BassChat who do enjoy it!
Plus one million to all of this. I think like the Marcus Muller thread or whatever he was called we should be calling time on this. Like Retroman I to agree a couple of the comments are starting to border on cyber bullying and quite frankly people, we are better than that... whatever we think of the comments in the OP

21. Welcome to the forum I too did a doubletake on that username
22. Hi Malcolm - in addition to this thread we have a few threads on the various companies and members varying experience with custom service http://www.ampcovers.co.uk/ampcovers.asp (a bit slow at times but very good) http://www.hotcovers.co.uk/page3.htm (don't know personally) http://www.pianocoversonline.co.uk/ (ditto) http://store.amplifiercovers.com/ http://www.hotroxuk.com/fender-amp-covers-8292-0.html and I've used http://www.amplifiercoversonline.com/zenca...;products_id=16 Ebay has loads too, often from these companies selling there too.
23. I practice not looking at the fretboard sometimes. It'd be a nightmare if I tried with my upright... certainly showing up my shortcomings!
24. I assumed this would be a Fender or an acoustic.
