1. I've had a couple of MIK Squiers, 88 & 89. They are great, rivalling the current crop of Squiers which seem to have a bit of a return to form. These are getting more collectable & I do think the body issue is a bit picky but hey, it's your bass!
2.
i have no opinion, but thats the best thread title i've seen! congratulations
Plus 1
3.
There is a guy selling a fender baseman 135 on here. Should fit most of your requirements.
I was just going to post that. They're not the lightest but amazing tone & I swear by mine. I'm amazed his hasn't sold in 2 days, hell of a deal
4.
God knows I love men but I rather them in my bed than in my band.
Having roomed up on tour with my band a few times I definitely prefer my guys in the band, not the bed! And I think we got that Charlie was short for Charlotte... unless it was just me & I'm naturally gifted? Good luck with the search.
5. I think there are a million examples. I know where Lord Sausage is coming from in the above post but it depends completely on the song & the style. The song I'd bring to the table is Son Volt's Down to the Wire from American Central Dust. It was one of those lines I loved so much that I decided to work it out only to then be saying "Oh, is that it?" Beautiful song that is bass led
6. Welcome to Basschat Mark. I too have an old MIJ P-bass & use Ampeg
7. Welcome to Basschat. There are plenty of bands around London, you'll be fine
8. It certainly has its place...but not in any of my bands!
9. I had a practice amp listed that didn't sell with 21 watchers. Afterwards a guy messaged me to say relist it & I'll buy it. I did (buy it now auction too) & he didn't. 3 days later someone else bought it. It's a strange old world
10. When selling I tend to cut & paste the product spec along with whatever info I put, not that I sell on amps / cabs that often. I too always do a bit of research on gear when buying myself so I know a bit about it. I've always stuck with brands I know & like so thankfully haven't had any problems
11. I tried ordering a 51RI P-bass back in 2004 from them. The money went straight off my credit card & then nothing. I only found out they were "having trouble with their suppliers" when I chased it & they were quick to try & push "store credit" when I eventually asked for a refund. I wouldn't go there again unless they were giving stock away. I'm sure they're fine with stuff they have in stock but once bitten....
12. Alas? You mean you raised your game? Welcome to Basschat
13. I'm another fan of roto trubass black nylon strings & all things Fender. My advice is just try a bunch. The Fender brand has had a price hike but having played since the 80s they've matched it with a quality hike. The Mexican range & the Japanese basses are also worth serious investigation. Welcome to the forum.
14. Everyone goes through it. I was really motivated for years & then just lost the bug. Went through a phase of learning other instruments & then when I least expected it the bass bug came back tenfold. You just go with the flow, if I had a formula I'd share it
15.
serial is F0 plus 5 digits so I believe that makes it 79 /80 and, by the looks of it, has spent many of those years being thrown in the backs of transit vans
It makes it 1980 from my understanding. Yours looks a lot tidier than mine which is 1978 (the paint does tend to peel around the back from the valve heat) but they are such great amps. They are heavy... I added a flight case to mine & now it is totally unliftable That's a great price & I reckon you'll miss it.
16.
One question.. How do you bump your status from Newbie to beyond?
Just keep posting. Simple. It doesn't take long to get out the starting blocks

18.
Tim, Is this it... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Cheers Marc...
