1. There's an Olp MM2 that has had at least 5 BCs own it. I got it off ChrisWilliams666 and sold it to Stevie and I know Chris was the 2nd or 3rd owner and Stevie's sold it on. All of us acknowledge it's a great bass but obviously just not a keeper!
2.
Quiet on BC on a Wednesday isn't it!
Ironic as it sounds, we were practising!
3. Skip Battin from the last incarnation of The Byrds didn't have a sig model so I made my own
4. It was mentioned in the OP but Ashdown 'Little Bastards' simply isn't clever
5. The Eagle Bass One & I'd strip the black paint off it http://www.bcrich.com/bass_eagle_one.asp Sorry!
6. Welcome to Basschat Ondrej
7. I think it looks great, mine just sit in cases and it's a cool storage option
8.
2009 necks became slimmer in April of that year. Early 2009 are supposed to be some of the thickest to date!
My old Rickenbacker was made in January 2009 & the neck was thick like the early 50s P-basses. It was part of the appeal. So that ties in with this.
9. I always liked this bass line from my memories of watching the Chart Show in the 1980s
10. They did indeed have 32" scale length too but I've never seen names for either. I've just asked sellers / owners. I believe they just use the titles medium scale & long scale.
11.
ahh but im not studying! so there is a chance
Just re-read & the words "masters" & "working" do put a different slant on things. I stand corrected
12. The Police were the first band I discovered outside of my parents record collection. Zenyatta Mondatta was my favourite album. I always rated Sting as a bass player. So Lonely, Canary in a Coalmine, Man in a Suitcase. He was working with a great drummer too
13. Welcome to Basschat
14. When I was studying there was no chance of me affording a new bass! I actually think the new standard MIM & USA Jazzes are both stunning. I never liked the MIM standards but since the price hike they have all raised their game. Also the 60s RI & the 70s RI are good fun
15. So far this is just serving to prove if you are an "as & when" type band it really is a nightmare trying to get fitted in on a Wednesday if you don't book a regular slot
16. I don't think anyone's ever posted a Basschat poll without someone complaining! What about those of us who practice as & when due to gigs, shift work, family, own businesses etc?
17. Welcome to Basschat
18. Welcome to Basschat Joe
19. Welcome to Basschat Martyn.
20. First I'd heard. I have a Buffalo Springfield biography on the bookshelf awaiting to be read so it'll be interesting to see if there is any mention of it. Looking at the attached picture seems to support that
21. I like them but being just a smidge shy of 6' 3" I do look a bit silly with one
22. Welcome to Basschat Ben
23. I've used him twice & would always recommend Andy
24. Presumably a Thunderbird, not a Firebird?
