1. Welcome to Basschat Ben
2. I've used him twice & would always recommend Andy
3. Presumably a Thunderbird, not a Firebird?
4. The Danos are always really good fun but I must confess they never seem to have much staying power & wind up getting sold on quickly (not just my experience but friends too).
5. I do like their 1973 one though
6. Welcome to Basschat Kevin
7. Not tried the current ones or the pair back to back but I own an old 90s USA Ampeg SVT-15E cab & it's my favourite cab I've ever owned. Very retro & very cool. I believe both are now made in the Far East so I don't know if they kept the quality up. I occasionally add an Ampeg SVT 210 cab (also 90s USA) for a bit more punch. I've never heard anyone criticise either cab.
8. Mine is insured for £6k & that's not everything. I am selling a bit off though so it'll probably fall short of the £6k figure. I have a 70s Fender P-bass (£1.5k) & a Rickenbacker 4003 (£1.5k) that helped get that figure up there.
9. Thanks Paul, that's really useful
10. I've found sometimes / usually there is a backline for bass but occasionally you have to bring your own. You usually get an all expenses paid A4 photocopy Access All Areas Artiste pass to stick in your car when lugging the gear and usually just a line check rather than a formal soundcheck. All good fun though
11. Heavy flatwounds, not especially brand loyal.
12. Hadn't heard of them either. I use Musicguard personally but haven't tried to claim so can't rate them.
13.
burritobass yep sadly a grestch is out of my price range which is a big shame!
Yeah, me too!
14. I'd go for this personally http://www.classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/basses/ampegrig.htm
15.
links the two channels - more drive
Cool, I think that's why I come to this site - top tip!
16. I have the same head but 1978 & in a much more used condition. I've just bought a flightcase for it. What's with the red patch cable going into the normal input?
17. Oh, ok. Does the Jack bass go for a lot these days? I remember these originally but I haven't kept up
18. I'm the 3rd person to look at it & it just says electric bass guitar - has he changed it or do I just not get it? Shocking photos!
19. At least after 10 working days it'll be worth the wait for delivery. Is that to allow for the decal to be applied?
20. I agree. You can always review in 6 months if it's not being used
21. I was quite pleasantly surprised with the Ibanez Artcore although no hard case. The Epiphone Jack Cassady is more retro in vibe but again, Epi have withdrawn the hard case these days. Italia look good to me & I'm yet to play an Eastwood but they seem to get very mixed reviews. I believe Gretsch will be outside your budget. The other option is EBay has a lot of 70s JapCrap cropping up right now.
22. A bit too far for me but a great deal for the under 12s (not that I'd pass!)
23.
I have flats on a P bass
That coupled with using your right hand up by the neck should be 90% of the battle.
24. It was!
