Anyone used the Flight Case Company? [url="http://www.theflightcasecompany.com/"]http://www.theflightcasecompany.com/[/url] I contacted them late last month about getting a case for my Fender Bassman head. They had one on offer & they replied immediately to say they would be holding their prices for the next 10 days. So I paid via Paypal & ordered on 31st, well within the ten days. Listed as in stock, ready for despatch. Not in a massive hurry although obviously it's nice to get things fairly swiftly. Thursday evening I logged into my account to discover my order was "awaiting payment". I wasn't too impressed with that so I contacted them quoting my paypal transaction number and querying the order. They'd left it for 5 days. To their credit the status was quickly amended to "awaiting forfillment" and I had a reply to say they never got the standard email from Paypal (a bit suspicious about that one but at least it's been amended). I was told I'd probably be looking at the first half of next week. I see today my status remains unchanged and I have also noticed they had actually put the price up by £10 - I thought it didn't look right - which went against what I was promised. Very sneaky. It's not been 2wks yet but for a custom order that was in stock and ready to go I have to say they are not impressing me too much so far. Any thoughts or experiences? Should I query the £10 price hike. That does seem a bit naughty.

I really like VV Brown and have done since I first saw her on Jools Holland. The bass player is great and I can't understand why she isn't massive. Too quirky I guess?

I think there's more choice now then ever. If I was playing heavy stuff I'd probably go with Orange or Ampeg but there's so much great kit out there these days.

You'll find a fair selection at Tin Pan Alley in London (a street full of music shops) BUT I wouldn't buy from them - too expensive and rude service. Dawsons in Reading has a reasonable selection - it depends how many you want to try. If you are new to bass I'd always advise playing what you buy as opposed to buying online.

My Ampeg SVT 115E cab is ex-Wurzels, I was reliably informed.

I have 5 Precisions which I'm only now stating to think is a bit much. If you like them & play them it's no problem

I got a tuition DVD on EBay to help me, nust called something like Double Bass for Beginners.

Grammer aside, jolly decent to "throw in a stand and a strap to compliant it". That would really compliant it?!

Welcome to Basschat. Owning an instrument is always a personal thing so ultimately you'll know when you play the right bass for you. The current Fender range is great & would certainly suit your genre / budget but ultimately you won't know until you plug in. Happy hunting

I've sold a few bass things at really reasonable prices and lately I've been amazed at how many people who will undercut the price to about 40% and email to say I'll give you £50 for an item listed at £130. Years ago stuff used to just go but about half my stuff is now a relist. It sells still though and at my price I originally specified. I don't mind people trying to knock a couple of quid off the price (I say no 99% of the time) but some people just take liberties

At a standard gig it's just a Precision but at the bigger gigs I'll take my upright too. Or if it's acoustic just the upright

He's great on the Lou Reed video when he explains why he double tracked his bass (to get two fees). So unassuming. He always comes across as a top bloke

It's whatever you want to pay for it. There are sellers that break these things up on EBay and sell them for £200 plus - if you are happy with that then fine. I've picked up Fender necks for £100 before but you have to really search EBay and strike early. What's the figure you've been quoted? In terms of fakes, pretty much what Steve said really. If it's a nice neck, it'll feel good. If you have any doubts and are not sure, just walk away.
