Appreciate the offer Mr. Foxen but I have one nearly right Basschat sourced bridge already. I'm thinking if I can't get it exact I may as well use that one but cheers all the same. It's going to have ashtray covers on it so it can look a little messy underneath

It's a 70s Fender body that the seller had split to sell parts. I'm looking for a sort of junk shop chic (I've stripped it this evening). I don't have the a pic of the bridge but this is the screwhole configuration.... I believe the bridge on the body was non original

The bass in the original post would pretty much be my dream jazz bass. I like pink & that example is tastefully done

I too have used the SR16 & it certainly used to be the industry standard

I'm working on a 70s bass project & have hit a stumbling block. The body I'm working on has has through body routing added and has 4 screw holes around the bridge. However it didn't come with a bridge & I can't find any examples online. Anyone know where I can find one? I would have thought these would have been more common

I find that quite straight forward. All I did was get a beginners DVD & build up from there before I developed too many bad habits. It's the double slap technique that I really struggle with.

I have an old Vox bass that is actually buried in North Watford Cemetary with a guy who died in a road accident (He was a player) so that's one accounted for!

Welcome to Basschat Ricky - I think it's the downside of bands, anyone who has been in this game a while has been stitched up by bandmates. Can be pretty low but we do bounce back... & like you say, it's great to be back!

No idea what the company is like but I liked a couple of the designs and they do seem to have all the bases (ahem!) covered when it comes to, um, basses. I would agree that there are far better things to do in life than watch TV but a little bit of TV never hurt anyone. I discovered some of my favourite bands through TV and it was TV that made me want to play in the first place, watching music shows (records got me into music, TV made me want to play it). And remember we're all reading this online - starring at a different kind of screen!

I like it although I'd prefer it to be less busy with the pickup configuration. I'm sure that bass would fit in with many genres, being an occasional country player myself it's a very small part of the genre that is that showy.

Stewart Copeland was making some good points. I'd always champion Charlie Watts over Keith Moon but I think generally the public like flash and showmanship over steadiness and solidness. It all comes down to taste. I remember kids at school debating for hours over whether Clapton, Hendrix or Knopfler was the best guitarist and the reality was most of the kids at school didn't know what a chord was. Ultimately it all comes to taste... but there is nothing really wrong with that, debating is the fun part.

I had a Peavey combo from the 80s through to 2005/6. I bought it secondhand for £50, did hundreds of gigs with it & eventually sold it for £120. You can't argue with that... the bloke I sold it to got an electric shock off it too!
