2. or a Thunderbird case surely?
3. Hiscox do one for bigger basses. You will pay silly money for a vintage case, simple as. http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/hardcases_de...=05040815385718
4. They are harder to pin down but http://www.fender.com/support/usa_instruments.php
5. I don't play many covers but I quite enjoy getting up at Open Mic nights & just jamming old country standards. I backed some guy from Louisiana recently on my upright which was great fun.
6. I've been quite lucky over the years in that I've really just played stuff I like & dropped stuff as I got bored of it. On literally 2 occasions I've wound up onstage playing stuff I don't like, which over 20yrs+ ain't bad.
7.
I love live albums. A bit of post-production doesn't bother me too much. Rock of Ages (The Band)
I was going to make these two points. I especially enjoy a live album on a long car journey.
8. I play bass in a band called Case Hardin. We play a mix of Americana, roots & alt-country. It's a new line up & we have strong 3 part harmonies (of which I'm not a part so feel I can say). We have the usual mix of electric & acoustic guitars with bass (upright & guitar) and drums PLUS mandolin & banjo. We play a lot of Art Centre type gigs & have shows coming up in Bristol, Sheffield & a tour of Ireland. Right now we're in pre-production with our next full length album which will be my debut recording with the band. You can find us on all the usual sites - MySpace, YouTube & Facebook but the link I'll share is http://casehardin.bandcamp.com/ because it has the last two releases on it, in full. All at the risk of seriously overestimating your interest!
9. I prefer the natural look ones, couple of great deals on second hand ones recently on EBay. I love the look but didn't like the unfinished feel of the necks when I tried one. I'm sure they'll suit many people though
10. See original post which is edited for new dates booked thus far. More dates for Ireland to be added
11. I'm with Stinson on the price. I own an immaculate 1978 Mocha Brown Fender P-bass that is a good weight. Musuem pieces are going for around £1500 & irrespective of what you think of EMG pickups without the originals you aren't selling an all original bass. If you can find the original pickups, remove the EMG ones and I reckon you could be looking at £1200 - but I'd find a positive spin on mentioning the weight! If it helps, mine came with original receipt, original strings (not on the bass), original case, ashtray covers etc So yours won't go top wack as it's been a real players bass by the sound of things. £800-£1100 as it is and with original pup £1200. I reckon Best of luck
12. I bought my first (& last - at that price!) Rickenbacker back in January. Truely awesome. Traditionally a P-bass player, I found it surprisingly light and very playable. It's a 4003 in mapleglo & here's the obligatory rubbish phone photo
13. Sounds good, I like a lot of roots music & it's not uncommon for musicians to take on a few projects so I'm sure the fiddle player is just seeing what's out there
14. Greetings from another Fender / Ampeg fan
15. Greetings from just up the road in Thatcham.

Hello

Greetings from a fellow 4003 / p-bass player who has also been playing since the late 80s
17. I was referring more to the idea of watching bands on TV, not knowing who they were and thinking male musicians were female - kind of smacks of watching Top of the Pops with my late Grandparents in the late 70s / early 80s. Let the record show that I do actually feel reasonably young still. I'm just a bit out of touch & that's no bad thing
18.
....a hippy girl called Greg Churchouse
Beat me to it! I just got that from Google. I feel officially old!
19. On top of being accused of talking to myself I have now found out that the hippy girl is a fella! I'm not doing so well here!!! At least I found a poor pic of him with the said bass. I'll get my coat...
20.
Talking to yourself is a bad sign
It's Friday night, I guess everyone is out gigging. We've had other Friday night TV threads that have really gone mad.
21. I've been really wanting a Fender Jazz recently - just as I thought my GAS was cured. I'll probably always be a P-bass player but I do like upright basses too. It's the beauty of bass - you can have more than one.
22.
I'm the one playing bass (oddly enough)
Looks like the sort of band I wind up playing with. Is that a bouzouki on the right?
