The MIM is usually blank & the F tends to be on Reissue models I've emailed Ampeg support before & they always reply - don't know what Fender are like for support but give it a go.

I like it but it may take a few minutes to adjust if you are used to a modern profile

I'm also amazed when people sell stuff with missing knobs or missing strings - if you get it together you will increase your chances of a sale tenfold

From another thread I was remembering my love of a surf green Fender Jazz with a rosewood 'board which seems surprisingly lacking on Google images. Probably a 60s style Jazz. Love to see what you can do?

My Dad was a pro drummer in the 60s & pretty much hated all the sessions he got to do. I on the other hand must have spent a fortune over the years playing exactly what I want at every stage of my life. At best I've walked away with £50 or £60 a night. I know a few session players like my Dad now & it saddens me that he hasn't played seriously since about 1965 and rarely even listens to music. I'm the opposite - there is always music on in our house and I play a lot. It will never clear my mortgage but it's a great escape from real life. I am sure there are many many happy people in the industry (I have 3 friends that do it professionally as teachers & one who runs a shop as well as sessions) but sometimes the fun gets lost along the way trying to "make it". I was doing just that and wound up at the age of 27 where I couldn't get a decent job because I'd spent a decade playing semi-pro & not looked beyond the goal of being succssful in music playing it EXACTLY my way. I'm not wishing to put you off but you need a strong business plan with very realistic goals and expectations. My let down was that I would never compromise on genre / style so I limited myself. I'd have rather done that than have made it playing stuff I hated it. If you don't mind what you play then it's simply not a problem. Good luck in whatever you do

I moved onto guitar for a few years & was majorly into country playing so lots of 2 fret bends etc. I'd usually have to tune up a couple of times but as long as you kill the volume it's not a problem. Playing badly out of tune is very unprofessional but you can be more professional with your tunings. Think about structuring things for the singer to say between songs & work bass / drum intros into the set. All redundant if he tunes up at full volume though

Incredibly I can't find one single picture of it but Steve James from The Dogs D'Amour had a surf green Jazz bass in this video.... ...and this video made me want to be in a band. * OK, I found a picture of something similar (attached) but it's not as good

Go back 20yrs and the pre-runner from MIJ Fender was my first bass I still have it and still play it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, in my humble opinion the jump from MIM Standard to MIM Classic is as big a jump as Squier affinity to VM Series. They are that good. Mine was SERIOUSLY abused over the years as I owned it in the bad old days before I cared about looking after gear so the mods are because of mistreatment - this bass is great stock! The MIM Classics also seem pretty consistant from the bunch I've played

Interesting one this, bordering on mildly annoying. I own a 3/4 upright which is chinese. Very happy with it but the bridge was a bit weak so I ordered a new one. I got a 3/4 size one and then realised the inside of my bass is marked as 4/4. It really isn't but that's what it says. Anyhow the new bridge is too small & mine is obviously a 3/4 bass with a 4/4 bridge. Is this common or was mine a factory cock-up?

I rarely use mine. I can't quite bring myself to sell it but it doesn't solve the problem of space. It's going to be bulky if it's an upright bass I'm afraid. I just stand mine in the corner

Pretty much nailed by Doddy here really. Some bands / tabs will list stuff as C, F & G when the tuning is tuned down half a step so you'll be playing B, E and F# when playing along with the recording. If you are then playing it with other musicians just check to see if they are playing those shapes in regular tunings or as per the record

I've used it two or three times and it's excellent. On the last occasion they stopped taking the payments for a couple of months without contacting me so it took longer to pay off (it just delayed the repayment) which I thought was a little poor (I hate bad comms) but generally you can't fault 0%. It's available through a lot of online traders too like Soundslive so worth a punt if your local shop isn't partaking

If you have decent cables already & a decent bass / amp then it really is false economy to skimp on patch cables.
