1. I've done about 3 decent supports in the last few months & we have always had a good deal out of the venues / promoters. However I've found lower down the scale at pub gigs we've dealt with promoters who really should just call themselves "bookers" as they haven't done much in the way of promoting, passing this on to the bands to do.
2. I've bought a fair bit over the last few years but I've played them all a fair bit more. I've also noticed the threads tend to be more on gear than on playing. I had two basses for 15yrs before I started going on Bass sites. My argument is I play a lot though. My gear gets used.
3. Am I really the only bassist to gig this week? Wow! We drove 280 miles to York last night to gig at the art centre in Pocklington. Excellent fun & we went down well.
4. He's just down the road from me. I've met him and spoken with him. He is genuine and a nice guy. From what I saw of his gear it is all good stuff which is sadly reflected in the price. He has a stall in the indoor market in Hungerford but most of the guitars are kept elsewhere.
5. Nerves are normal in the early days. Do the show - you sound remarkably more rehearsed then I've been at points in the past. I suspect this is fear of the unknown & once you start you'll be fine. Best of luck
6. I love the look of Jazzes but don't get on with the narrow neck. If they did one with a fatter neck I'd be there straight away. They sound & look great though
one more point, is there any interest in the market for a t-bird IV or have i just got a stinking block of cheese?
I've had & sold on two. Both sold quickly & easily. Bear in mind though that Guitar Guitar have them in stock new for £199. Hard cases don't tend to add value, they just tend to improve your chances of selling. They are only really an investment if keeping the instrument.

HI Skylark, welcome to Basschat with what must surely be one of the more succinct introductions that I've seen
8. I don't know how it compares to the others but that Ampeg B100R is great fun & looks the part too
9. Well tonight it's Pocklington Arts Centre, Market Place, Pocklington, York, Northeast YO422AR - £14 - 30 Jan 2010, 20:00 08:00 PM We're playing an acoustic show opening for Gandalph Murphy & The slmbovian Circus of Dreams I'm told it's close to capacity so in the unlikely event any Basschatters are planning on going please check with the venue prior to travelling. I can assure you it's not us selling the place out!
10.
I found the new thunderbird very disappointing. Poorly finshed with overspray and blemishes, and the pickups had no punch or top at all. Worst of all was the substandard fret job. Some were visibly higher than others causing all sorts of issues. It went straight back!
That's disappointing and yet strangely unsurprising too. They look good in the photos but I'd managed to resist the temptation
11. Welcome. I too agree search for tone seems to come with age / experience, or at least it did for me too.
12. He can't spell precision either. Looks good but from what little is provided it doesn't look like a genuine original... maybe a 62RI? Hmmmnn!
13. Welcome Sue - For me it's pretty much as has been said. Play together, get to know how each other play and talk about it too. Have fun with it as well!
14.
Couldn't hear the cough, I was laughing to much (at the clothes, mostly).
At the risk of being naff, that's coolness personified in my world!?!
15. I gigged my 1989 Fender Precision back in November. This was my main bass throughout the 90s and it was like putting on old slippers, very welcome. It'll come out more again that's for sure
16. With the headphones on you can hear the cough which explains the wayward harmony around 2.29 that stops abruptly.
17. It's great that he is finally recognised for his work when you consider how unknown the band was at the time. An inspiration.
18. Pete I posted a thread on these a couple of weeks ago. It sure does look great. I love the matching headstock. Not sure I like the price so much though.
19. Plus one on the MXR Micro amp. A great pure boost
20.
You should never be asked for feedback until you have received the goods - this should set your alarm bells ringing - check all the safety/fraud stuff on ebay and get an e mail off to them a.s.a.p. Did you use Paypal?
100% agree. Might be genuine but this is not how it works.
21. Missed this thread but right now it's...
22. I'd say £300 too.It doesn't have the kudos of MIJ /CIJ and neither the vintage status (yet).
