1. I agree on the Squier range - it's what I started on 21yrs ago! There are a lot of good budget basses out there. My advice is pick one that feels right to you. Owning a musical instrument is a deeply personal thing (especially the first one) so take your time and go with what you like the look and feel of.
2. I love retro styles so the Precision bass is king for me. I always used to like maple fretboards but more recently I've come to embrace rosewood fretboards too. A 50s, 60s or 70s style P-bass with ashtrays is my ultimate. I also like old Gibson style basses and even modern basses that look like they are old school (like the new Jaguar bass that is from this decade but doesn't look it or the Italia range). I also love a good old double bass.
3. I've just snapped up an Epiphone Les Paul bass on EBay for £80 that was only listed 35mins previously and looks immaculate in the detailed photos. I should probably reserve judgement until it arrives but in principle it's a bit of a steal.
4. It's the Mexican Deluxe series so more than a Standard. I've sold a bunch of guitars from this series. £350 is priced to sell for a relatively quick sale but if you put it higher it will go. No experience selling Warwicks though
5. ....but not in the Meat Loaf sense!
6.
Group hug!!?
Took the words out of my mouth

Epiphone EB-0

The neck dive on the EB3 is worse for obvious reasons
8.
Whereabouts were you busking, and what was your setup?
Burnham on Sea and my setup was a mandolin! I'd love to take the double bass but it's easier to run away from the shopping centre security with a mandolin!
9. Friday was awesome (but I was offline) so couldn't post. Played the double bass. Great. Saturday was really good. Busking in the day, playing on a truck in the evening. Don't get much better!
10. It's a great tune. Not my thing normally but I was quite impressed with VV Brown when I saw her on Jools Holland
11. Or carpet tape which is as good as double sided sticky tape. Just as good.
12. I can vouch for Jim being a top bloke & this being a lovely bass if anyone's on the fence. All his kit is immaculate or failing that extremely well looked after. Word of warning though, he calls himself Floyd Pepper & he's not even a real Doctor!
13. I've bought a guitar amp (long since sold on) & a footswitch from Thomann before. The only thing to watch is the two prong lead. Other than that no issues from me
14. It is amazing how frequently people post wanted stuff at the same time as others list the same item for sale. Quite often though an eagle eyed Bass Chatter will post a link in one thread to the other. It does stand to reason though that if sellers did a token sweep they may get a quicker sale. That said sometimes peoples needs change & I don't reckon the wanted threads get updated that often
15. You should talk us through it all a bit. Is that 2x15" on the Aguilar set up? I like the first picture of basses
16.
I pretend to get one of these Basses
It took me a while to realise that you intend to get one... got a bit confused by the typo! Just to offer a different view, I prefer the MIM Classic series by a mile. These rival the CIJ/MIJ basses in terms of quality and don't be put off by the Mexico tag. The difference between these and the MIM Standards is as vast as between the Squier VM series and the entry level basses. Some people like the HWY1 series but I couldn't get on with the feel of the instruments. It's all subject to tastes I guess but I'd try both before you buy as I'm sure both opinions here are valid.
17.
it is safe to ignore comments on Youtube.
We should get this translated into latin & have it as a site motto!
18. I'd always go for a Precision & reading what you've posted, that is still the case. The Squier CV jazzes are nice though
19. Fender Precisions all the way! I like other basses but it always comes back to P-basses for me
20.
Rule No. 1 for playing style - there are no rules.
Absolutely. You can play whatever feels right for you. I tend to find there is more anti-pick snobbery in some parts but generally it doesn't matter what you do. I personally think it's best when you can play using a number of different techniques just so as you have more options
21. I do hope that's a cut & paste quote! I haven't tried the bass ones BUT the acoustic ones are stunning & all I use now
22. I wasn't a big fan of the 80s in the 80s although I've since come full circle on a couple of acts. The 70s is my favourite decade & I spent a lot of the 80s listening to old punk. However this was the moment I decided I wanted to play & be in a band. Last year I got to back the singer at a gig in Swindon which was a 20yr old dream come true
23. It's amazing how much space one double bass takes up so I can't believe you have two (even if one is on loan). My wife would go mad if I had a second
24. Sweaty Glam punk fun from 15+yrs ago. I still have that bass but it's cleaned up & looks better And more punky fun from the mid 90s when I thought I could incorporate my bass playing with aiming for my pilots licence!
25. Me in 2009 on the day I got my double bass (I nearly typed "first" which is a sign of a GAS problem!)
