  1. No effects, just bass into amp. I don't crank it and I play with some pretty loud players. I am on my tablet so struggling to hear bass on a good YouTube clip but any live 2019 clip of Last Great Dreamers will be me with that set up if it's UK (Europe we had a supplied backline).
  2. Just from the discussion of the Terror MK2, I previously owned the MK1, bought the attenuator that fixed it running hot, sold it, bought the MK2 and now have the AD200B as well. Incredibly I haven't lined up my Mk2 Terror Head with the AD200B. I just figured the Terror was great for pub gigs and anything bigger was the AD200B. They are quite different but with a huge crossover. I certainly think the Mk2 Terror head is a very positive step in the right direction from the original. And to be clear, I liked the original.
  3. I like that colour. Always have.
  4. Levys do an extra long strap. Search EBay for extra long straps and loads come up. Gibson moved the strap button which fixed this issue. I assume the strap button on your bass is on the side, rather than on the back of the bass?
  5. Tony James (Gen X) used Thunderbirds and Ric 4001s. Steve Severin used a Musicman. Those three basses seemed pretty popular too.
  6. I own an Eastwood BV - Eastwood even re-posted my Instagram post on it a few years ago. Common sense says I should sell it but I can't bring myself to part with it. Short scale (I think most V's are) and great fun. Sounds better with fingers than a pick, which surprised me as I thought it was a rock bass.
  7. I use Orange exclusively now and I am not a metal guy, at all! I play across several acts ranging power pop, New Wave, Americana, post punk and 60s Garage rock. I use three different set ups; a 4x10 & 1x15 with a AD200B all valve head for big shows, an SP212 with terror head for smaller venues and an Orange Crush for home practice. If it is one trick, it's the trick I want.
  8. We'd have an awful lot of defenders!
  9. I'm with @Lozz196 on this. Having a few albums on Spotify myself, they generate very little. Even Gary Numan recently said 1,000,000 plays earnt him £33 recently - and we're not even 10% of that! When I was a kid I didn't think about it but I guess I thought if you were "famous" you had loads of money. I've played with loads of pro names and unless you are doing really well (Stones, U2 etc) chances are you have a second job. Most signed rubbish contracts when they were young and got ripped off badly because they were naïve. As the other recent thread said, I think we're lucky we're mostly semi-pro here as my annual income through music wouldn't cover the bills. Even up a few levels and it's not much better. Fans should buy direct from artists, otherwise the industry really is going to die out. When we tour we really depend on sales to keep the band on the road, and again the bigger bands we support are so often the same.
  10. Ta, the bass - I did the same re scales from a thread on here a few years back.
  11. Have you tried items wanted here on Basschat? There are also a couple of UK based pickguard makers on here too. A black one should be easier to source but custom order would mean anything is possible. Certainly these seemed more readily available a few months back. Good luck finding something.
  12. Not to my tastes either - just did the same search! What are you after? Black? This is strange because they had several a while ago.
  13. Vinyl is always my preference but I do have a few duplicates on CD for the car. With streaming services, that's something that is largely dying out now (CDs in the car, not LP records).
  14. I've done this a few times and with the CV 50s bass. EBay is good, unless you want something custom made? If that's the case you can take it off, stencil it on tracing paper and send it to the manufacturer.
  15. Thanks @Oopsdabassist Where did you order yours from?
  16. Just hid a few posts that would have been better suited politely querying with @ped or the moderation team, as opposed to being posted publicly. Thanks for everyone's understanding here.
  17. I'm definitely interested in your verdict when it arrives today.
  18. As a child of 80s rock / alternative, I learnt with a pick because all my heroes did. I learnt finger style early 90s because lots of people.(wrongly) said that was how.to play properly and more recently I have played more pick again. It depends on the style and song, and I am at a loss as to why it continues to be such a contentious subject.
  19. Thanks for posting. It'd be a card sale rather than cash as I do not have much spare cash at the moment.
  20. I keep hovering over these online but I am definitely at a stage where I need a lighter bass these days. What are these like, from anyone with actual experience? Basswood bodies but I have a feeling they aren't going to be the lightest.
  21. Without wishing to burst any bubbles, the crowd noises are often not from the concert. My old band did a live EP in the early 90s. It got single of the week in RAW magazine and you can hear the crowd genuinely screaming in excitement between our songs. The crowd were actually at a Prince concert!
  22. Yep, that was it... and I think we have had this conversation on an older thread a couple of years ago. I was a couple of rows behind that balcony, centrally slightly to the right. Black jumper and skintight black jeans - I did wave!
  23. I was in the audience for a video that was my first gig. Widely bootlegged now but not an official record. Beyond this the only other live album I'm on is one I released but that wasn't allowed to count by the OP
  24. I think this thread would be lost on the streaming / MP3 generation. When I have gone down the rabbit hole with genres (80s Sleaze bands, Goth, Rockabilly etc) I have been guilty of doing this a lot. With mixed but mostly pleasing results at the time.
