I had one of my rare outings for my CCR tribute. The singer's constant tuning has been a bugbear for ages and last night he finally seemed to have it under control. We recently replaced the drummer & this was also the most bedded in he has sounded. A pleasant surprise all round, added by the fact that there were enough punters who were able to brave the weather.

Some shows we have coming up to keep us out of mischief whilst we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of our debut album Retrosexual.

Society is far too hung up on age. As ridiculous as it now sounds, I stopped playing at 25 because I thought I was too old. I had 4yrs out. We'd grown up with the Rolling Stones being told they were too old as they were 38! Times have changed. 18 months ago I was front row at a Stones concert watching Jagger put on a show that most people 1/3 of his age couldn't manage. I've had two near death experiences which made me realise you are only as young as you feel. It's a mindset. I'm 47 next month, fitter than I ever was in my 20s and I weigh the same as I did 25yrs ago. As Lemmy said, if you think you're too old for rock 'n' roll than you probably are. I'm keeping going now until whatever ailments force me to stop.

Further proof that all the best stories start with a Fiat Panda! -
There are loads of great compilations of the early recordings that influenced Elvis and they are all fantastic. I think stuff like Rocket 88 and Big Mama Thornton is just incredible. To think there wasn't really a blueprint like there is for modern day artists. It just blows my mind.

Nah, he was in Britpop band Tiny Monroe and then later in UK Americana act The Snakes. Our drummer is more "famous" as he was in 90s indie band Mega City 4.

Having spent two and a half years recording an album with my good friend Rich, we decided to take some songs out for a road test at the local open mic. A rip roaring success. Richard Davies & the Dissidents go live this year. An indie deal is about to be signed for the record and proper live dates to follow. Loving this phone snap.

An ego led requirement... Nah, I just liked those ones. As I said I spent years playing Squiers quite happily but came into some now long spent cash a while ago and decided that I wanted the best I could get. I'm not precious though, my main player is currently my Japanese Fender P over my American made Jazz. I simply used the term "American made" as I felt it binded the 3 most expensive basses I own.
-
I had some nice kit, sold it all and did everything on two very decent Squiers (from an album through to some big shows) but came full circle with the realisation that I like to have American made basses as well as budget ones. Sure the Squiers were great but a Fender USA or a Gibson or a Ric are great for my needs too. And it's not like I don't play much. You only live once so I don't want to feel guilty or feel like I have to make excuses.

I had 6 about 12yrs ago but I have since calmed down a lot. I kinda liked it when life wasn't so calm!

As part of kit culling / space making I am selling my Olp Stingray copy. It's a monstrous sounding bass and incredible for the money. Looking for £120 and it'll be collection only but I am near the M4 and can be near the A34 too. Only thing worth mentioning is the original owner removed the logo on the headstock for reasons unknown (a pretty tidy job to be fair). I bought a replacement that I can throw in, but never got around to fitting it. I took it to rehearsal the other day and was blown away by how big this sounded, even through rubbish rehearsal room amps. Not interested in any trades as I already mentioned I am needing to downsize. Thanks for looking.

Offered for sale is my Aguilar DB112 in beautiful chocolate finish with an official Aguilar padded cover. I've owned this since new for about 2yrs and I would describe the condition as about 9.5/10. The cover has a tiny scuff on one corner but the cab is well protected and sounds absolutely fantastic. It'd be collection only as I can never get a good deal on posting cabs. PMT currently offer this for £882 which for a handmade New York cab is great. I'm offering mine with the cover for £475. Sorry but no trades as space is at a premium and it's one of a few items I am listing to downsize etc. The spec - The Aguilar DB 112 combines the full low-end extension of the GS 112 with the punchy midrange of the DB series cabinet line. A heavy-duty cast frame Eminence driver is mounted in a rear ported 13 ply Baltic Birch enclosure to create a high-effeciency cabinet that will be focused, musical and sound louder than other boxes of similar size. The DB 112 will sound great and look cool on any stage. Specifications One 12" cast frame woofer, 56 oz. magnet Phenolic tweeter with integral phase plug Custom crossover with variable tweeter control One Neutrik Speakon and two 1/4" inputs Deluxe Strap Handle, Rubber Feet, 13 ply Baltic Birch 3 year limited Warranty Power Handling: 300 watts RMS Frequency Response: 42 Hz - 16 kHz Sensitivity: 95 dB 1W 1M Impedance: 8 ohms Dimensions: 14" H, 19" W, 19" D Weight: 45 lbs

Offered for sale is my Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass Fretless in 3-Colour Sunburst that is essentially a very nice lined fretless. I bought it last year for a recording project that never happened and it's not left the house. These look to be discontinued but were retailing at £350, a lot of bass for the money. Mine only got played at home a few times before being retired to a case and I have been uber lazy in terms of shifting it on. Looking for £275. It'll be collection only as I don't have a case for shipping but I am easily accessible along the M4 / can potentially be around the A34 too. The only difference is I put flats on this but I can restring if it isn't to your tastes.. The spec from Squier is as follows: Vintage Modified Precision Bass Fretless Key Features: Fender Designed Precision Bass Pickup Modern “C” Shaped Neck with Vintage-Tint Vintage Style Chrome Hardware Fretless Ebonol Fingerboard Tortoiseshell Pickguard Vintage Modified Precision Bass Fretless Specs: Body Body Material: Agathis Body Finish: Gloss Polyester Body Shape: Precision Bass Neck Neck Material: Maple Neck Finish: Gloss Polyurethane Neck Shape: Modern “C” Scale Length: 34" (864 mm) Fingerboard Material: Ebonol Fingerboard Radius: 9.5” (241 mm) Number of Frets: Fretless Fret Size: Fretless Nut Material: Synthetic Bone Nut Width: 1.625" (41.3 mm) Position Inlays: Side Dot Truss Rod: Standard Electronics Pickup: Fender-Designed Split Single-Coil Precision Bass Controls: Master Volume, Master Tone Configuration: S Hardware Bridge: 4-Saddle Vintage Style with Single Groove Saddles Hardware Finish: Chrome Tuning Machines: Standard Open-Gear Pickguard: Tortoiseshell Control Knobs: Dome Style Neck Plate: 4-Bolt Squier Miscellaneous Strings: Fender USA Bass 7250ML, NPS, (.045 - .100 Gauges) Other Features: Vintage Tint Neck, Knurled Chrome Dome Control Knobs, Single Disk String Tree

Here's my collection of hand made American straps made from vintage car upholstery vinyl by Couch in the USA. The shortest length hole to hole is 100cm and they go very long indeed! I'm 6ft 3", play low and there is still room to go lower if you have full on ape like arms! All in great condition and all 2" wide / very comfy. With import taxes and delivery these normally sell for about £60 each for the Racer X ones with the beige car seat belt one being nearer £40. I'm offering them at £30 each including UK delivery and £20 for the beige one. These are all 100% vegan / cruelty free and made from recycled American automobile interiors. As used by everyone from Green Day to Queen to Cheap Trick, the Velvet Underground and, um, Beyonce!?

Three short sets at the local open mic with my old school R&B / 60s Garage band The Jimmy Sixes. My weakest band but always loads of fun & last night we were absolutely on it. Dusted down my Ric 4003s which sounded great through the house rig which was a tiny Mark Bass combo.

Sorry guys, this thread isn't happening. It's an emotive topic whatever your views & I don't think we're going to be changing one another's opinions so we'd made the decision to keep Basschat Brexit free.

Norfolk Music scene. What's it like

My singer is from Norfolk (we're UK wide) and he's always late to everything. The standard joke is he's stuck behind a tractor! -
Band joining/leaving shenanigans. Update - The Decision...
Cat Burrito replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
I 100% agree with the majority of posts that say, be polite as you never know what the future holds. Especially if you are from a small scene / area. I'd be secretly a little aggrieved but it could be the drummer picks you up for his next band or some gigs come your way. That won't happen if you tell them to go stuff it... and if they do wind up being a bunch of idiots, hey, you dodged a bullet!
