All music is open to being interpreted. I think there are artists that are harder to pull off than others but I have, for example, some great soul versions of songs from the rock and country genre that would fail in the hands of lesser bands. I find this whole concept is best summed up by an argument that took place at one of my early band practices way back in 1990 during Sixth Form in M4 Mobile Classroom. I'll call the offender "Ian", (because that was actually his name) and I have tried to preserve the pompous nature of Sixth Formers on both sides of the argument; Me - "I'd love to do something by the Stones" Ian - "You don't touch the Beatles and you don't touch the Stones" Me - "Ian, you have an appalling taste in music (death metal fan), what on earth do you know about bands like The Beatles? Ian - "I know the Beatles" Me - "No you don't. You don't know anything about them" Ian - "yeah, I do." Me - "tell me about the Beatles then Ian" Ian - "It's George Lennon and that" Me -

I had one of my rare outings for my CCR tribute. The singer's constant tuning has been a bugbear for ages and last night he finally seemed to have it under control. We recently replaced the drummer & this was also the most bedded in he has sounded. A pleasant surprise all round, added by the fact that there were enough punters who were able to brave the weather.

Some shows we have coming up to keep us out of mischief whilst we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of our debut album Retrosexual.

Society is far too hung up on age. As ridiculous as it now sounds, I stopped playing at 25 because I thought I was too old. I had 4yrs out. We'd grown up with the Rolling Stones being told they were too old as they were 38! Times have changed. 18 months ago I was front row at a Stones concert watching Jagger put on a show that most people 1/3 of his age couldn't manage. I've had two near death experiences which made me realise you are only as young as you feel. It's a mindset. I'm 47 next month, fitter than I ever was in my 20s and I weigh the same as I did 25yrs ago. As Lemmy said, if you think you're too old for rock 'n' roll than you probably are. I'm keeping going now until whatever ailments force me to stop.

There are loads of great compilations of the early recordings that influenced Elvis and they are all fantastic. I think stuff like Rocket 88 and Big Mama Thornton is just incredible. To think there wasn't really a blueprint like there is for modern day artists. It just blows my mind.

Nah, he was in Britpop band Tiny Monroe and then later in UK Americana act The Snakes. Our drummer is more "famous" as he was in 90s indie band Mega City 4.

Having spent two and a half years recording an album with my good friend Rich, we decided to take some songs out for a road test at the local open mic. A rip roaring success. An ego led requirement... Nah, I just liked those ones. As I said I spent years playing Squiers quite happily but came into some now long spent cash a while ago and decided that I wanted the best I could get. I'm not precious though, my main player is currently my Japanese Fender P over my American made Jazz. I simply used the term "American made" as I felt it binded the 3 most expensive basses I own.

I had some nice kit, sold it all and did everything on two very decent Squiers (from an album through to some big shows) but came full circle with the realisation that I like to have American made basses as well as budget ones. Sure the Squiers were great but a Fender USA or a Gibson or a Ric are great for my needs too. And it's not like I don't play much. You only live once so I don't want to feel guilty or feel like I have to make excuses.

I had 6 about 12yrs ago but I have since calmed down a lot. I kinda liked it when life wasn't so calm!
