1. I'm just eternally grateful all my early worst mistakes are back in the 80s... knowing me back then, if I was 30yrs younger I'd be proudly putting them all over Instagram, YouTube etc without a second thought. And regarding the title of the OP, chalk it up as experience and move on. No harm done.
2. I'm struggling to see the point of this thread, other than a bit of trolling. She's out there playing, giving it a go. C'mon Basschat, we're better than that!
3. Rocking afternoon in Bristol on the Gloucester Road at the Golden Lion. I felt I wasn't personally as "on it" as the previous night but the general view from the audience was we were better on the 2nd date. Happy to go with the flow on that
4. I'm another Couch straps user / fan. I bought my first one on here and picked up a further 3 on EBay. They do crop up, otherwise they are going to be an order from https://www.couchguitarstraps.com/
5. Continuing the theme of good gigs in Swindon, we rocked The Rolleston! A personal favourite show for me.
6. I love Guild's but have never owned one. I do have an identical version of Neepheid's hat though, as featured in the 2nd post
7. I have four basses and I tend to look at I love all of them occasionally. The T-bird is the most "me" but sometimes it is nice to pick up the Hofner or the Precision and have a mess around on them. I certainly don't hate any of them but do default to the main one.
8.
Is it loud enough to keep up at a gig? Haven't heard a pf50T through two cabs.
It is but then I found it loud enough with one cab
9. I wouldn't claim to be any expert but my Ampeg PF-410 HLF was a wise decision. I even did a 0% finance deal so it was a down payment of £48 and then monthly payments of £30. The side handles make it seem lighter than it really is and it suits the rest of my rig.
10. My Thunderbird was 2 1/2 years old when I bought it from new and it never bothered me. Some stock just takes longer to shift.
11. Okay so technically it was actually around 10 days ago but I just never got around to sharing this. I added a 4x10 to my existing setup, in part to win the battle of the volume wars in my rock band, in part because it looks so cool and in part because my small inoperable hernia needs developing! Presenting Portaflex heaven!
12. Do you exercise much? I was all bunged up awaiting a sinus op last year and my legs were often cramped. After the op, to celebrate breathing normally, I began exercising again and no leg cramps. Just stretch out a bit at least.
13. Almost certainly, simply because it gives the band a bit of credibility before you've even done anything.
14.
A long long time ago I ran into Ross Halfin, erstwhile rock photographer of this parish. I asked him about some if the bands he worked with. Kiss came up. He said something like, 'Never believe anything that comes out of their mouths. They're the biggest liars I've ever met, especially Simmons.'
Just a different story but I did my University work experience with Kerrang magazine. All the journalists spoke admirably about Paul. When doing taped interviews, if the tape stopped, he would flip their cassette over, having paused and simply repeat his last couple of sentences in case they hadn't been captured. Very cool.
15. I'm going to that show. It's a shame Paul's voice is shot these days. I grew up with Kiss so I readily forgive it's all gone a bit silly these days.
16. I stopped completely at 26 because I thought I was getting too old. I feel silly about that now but it was good to have a 4yr break at the time. The last 15yrs of playing again have been much more enjoyable, As has been stated already, if you're not enjoying it any more, then don't do it.
17.
Aint no video there for me either dude.......... I noticed that YOUTube vids disappeared a few days ago for me too I'm on a macbook....
Let me flag this thread with the administrators then, as it seems to be a couple of you.
18. Are you at work? The above video displays absolutely fine for me.
19. Not just indie, plenty of rock bands who do that too. Equally a lot of 80s indie bands seemed to have very innovative bass lines. I always looked as a simpler line as an excuse to throw shapes onstage or contribute backing vocals etc.
Use Derek Smalls as your model :-)
Many of us do
20. I love these five notes, all in the same position too
21. I'm lucky in that I work with two great drummers at the moment, one whom I have been with for 8yrs. I've definitely been through my fair share of drummer issues over the years though and this thread makes me realise I'd been taking the current situation for granted.
22. Every relationship is different so I guess it is a case of what works for each couple. My wife comes to the bigger main shows and local ones, childcare permitting. She likes both my current bands but will say (in the past) if she doesn't like something.
23. I had one & it was fantastic. It only lasted about 4 years though which didn't impress me but it was great whilst it worked.
24.
errm Burrito....viz others replies the question in my OP isn't meant to be taken that seriously but when push comes to shove (apt choice of phrase here ) there many times when we all have to choose one thing over another. While I'm here it's nice to note that my member is now fully fledged
Yep, I get that, I just never want to choose! Welcome to the world of the fully fledged
