A snip for £140. Dano basses are usually great fun, at least the ones I've tried have been.

I read the entire thread thinking of Anita Dobson and thinking everyone was just being deadpan funny!

I have recently been experimenting with a couple of effects and have a very small board that I have put together. My question is simple, is this the best order? Bass into tuner into chorus (very occasional use) into VT Bass (left on pretty much all the time) into amp. The cars are purely cosmetic but if it helps, they improve sustain, balance the EQ and aren't really a pose! I know nothing about effects so am happy to bow to any superior knowledge. Cheers.
To be honest I had no idea the email would go to everyone regardless of the setting.
I got no email either but then I remembered that the mods get a special carrier pigeoned message, delivered by the spirit of Jaco, James Jamerson & Duck Dunn. A lot of effort considering I don't believe I can make it this year

My poor work computer won't let me quote Discreet but in answer to your question, easily!

Albums you think are crap but are critically acclaimed...
Cat Burrito replied to julesb's topic in General Discussion
I am another one for Nevermind by Nirvana. I'm sure it's an age thing as kids in the years below me at school loved grunge but I hated it all. Makes me wonder what critically panned albums we all love.... -
I can only echo the general conscientious here. I too have been burned many times and it does make you cynical. I have had some good experiences but generally it seems to have come rather questionable tactics too many times, coupled with the added pressure that it's for charity. The alternative is to organise something yourself for a chosen charity. That way at least you know it is genuine and the money goes to the right place.

I had the 115 version of your rig and simply swapped out the Ampeg Portafex PF-500 for the 50T. It's a great rig but made better with the all tube head. It isn't clear reading this why you want to change, beyond having some cash to put into it? The Portaflex stuff is good standard stuff and if you like it...

Is there a reason for the apparent dislike for active basses...
Cat Burrito replied to Rocker's topic in Bass Guitars
It's the normal basschat argument fodder..:-) Other examples include Pbass vs everything else Fender vs everything else Flats vs rounds Neo vs ferrite Valve vs everything else Class D vs everything else.. 😂
I dream of living in a world where "pick vs fingers" isn't so regularly debated. -

It could be the electrics of the venue. Stuff in my house hisses a bit (I live in an old cottage) but it's fine elsewhere. Obviously if you aren't happy I'd return it anyway but the hiss could be from the rehearsal room's electrics.

New Ampeg PF 20 and PF 50 and a new Cab too
Cat Burrito replied to Thunderpaws's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have the PF50T but missed this thread when it came out. It sounds immense! I'm really happy with it and for the record it isn't ugly! Special warning though, it doesn't fit into the PF cabs from the firs six months of production (i.e. not a problem for most but a huge problem for some!! -
Much prefer it to black.

Noel Gallagher doesn't like Jazz Music.
Cat Burrito replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
I'm afraid that I don't particularly like Jazz either (my father spent my childhood trying to push it on me) but I don't think anyone can dismiss a whole genre. I have stuff by everyone from Miles Davis to Tom Scott and whilst I wouldn't say any of it is on heavy rotation, there's usually something for someone. Equally I don't like rap or hip hop but some of the early stuff like Grandmaster Flash is enjoyable enough. I suspect it's just a bit of Noel banter. Move along people, nothing to see. -
I don't even mind my bass being called a guitar. We get too precious about stuff that doesn't matter. No preference.

Meanwhile, back at Folsom Prison ...

If Johnny Cash can use one they must be acceptable. -
The lack of roadie with my amp and my bass has a 12th fret anniversary inlay that from a purely cosmetic point of view I wouldn't miss if it went. First world problems, eh?
All these seem a bit too expensive though.
Prior to using the Boss unit I was very happy with this; http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Belcat-DLY-503-Delay-Pedal/B71 Ridiculously cheap and a lot of pedal for the money.
It's just stuff, keeping your life together is more important. There's always more stuff when things pick up again.
This is kinda where I sit. I sold off over 20 instruments when I got divorced a few years back. Never regretted any of it and the couple of things I missed, I bought new versions as life picked up. Life is peaks and troughs so look to the highs when you are in the lows. -
I only picked this up a few months ago and it was destined to be a keeper UNTIL I bought a Gibson. Now strict "at home" rules dictate it is sitting around too much to be kept. A shame as it is a stunningly cool and different bass. It was bought to help me realise any Rick Danko fantasies I may have (although I had opted for the fretted version. I had it professionally set up with flatwound strings and added a tiny Ampeg logo to the upper horn, as per the original that it was based on. This is effectively (in true basschat tradition) a virtually brand new bass available at a fraction of the RRP. Weight wise it is fairly average, a nice solid wood which is lightened by the cut out F holes and the fact it is a fairly small body. The neck is great and it got the most comments I have ever had playing a bass guitar on the one gig I did with it (literally about 7 different musicians came up to me to ask about it). Kind of like a halfway home between an old school P bass and an upright. I'm based in Swindon and at present I don't have a hard case to ship it in but I can be flexible about being around. Having played lead guitar in a band, I found it a lot harder than my usual bass gig. I take my hat off to anyone who has to learn words, learn a bit of guitar AND front the show. So if they need notes / prompts and I don't, who am I to judge?
