I always hear of this over on talkbass regarding SX's. Meant to be nice necks and bodies to justifiy the price to then in some sense rebuild them to how you like it ie. PUP's, Bridge, Tuners. I myself would rather buy it all separatly and throw it togethor as i am making my own Jazz bass from things bought from here and eBay all of which are top quality and i will know i have a quality bass at the end and also starting a 5'er Thunberbird bass project like that too. Which hopefully (fingers crossed ) in the end will leave me with two top notch basses with exactly what i want in them and set up exactly how i like them but this really isn't a cheap thing to do. I have spent quite a bit on building my jazz (which still is in the garage waiting for me to finish its finish...)

Sorting out everything with tjkennelly. Hopefully have it by next week. It's time for some Scot's to give this bass a go. I know al have a scottish flag sticker ready for when it arrives.

Wow now that we got some closeups i'm in love. The wood is beautiful! How much was the course? Was it just you or were their other people building with you?

Gotta say she sounds GREAT. Lovin it. But you need WAY more pictures with ALOT of closeup's. And the neck as a whole looks awesome. Gotta get myself to the Shuker course. Maybe i will get one for my 20th

Gotta say these ric's are starting to grow on me now. Used to hate the look of Ric's and Fender's but it's all starting to change.

I got a bass similar which is also a Spider also bought with some amp and gig bag pack for 60£ which was my first. its just some beginner bass but i love it.

Always wanted the vee bass wesley do. Would only take it as a bargain though. Got way too many bases already. 3 owned and 2 on the way.

Got one of these. Was my GF's dad's and the bridge was hanging off. Took it because i felt sorry for it and gave it a little TLC for a few nights. lives in the closet now. Seems to have had a crack in the neck but fixed with 2 screws. Gotta say it aint too bad but the electronics are a little crackly. One thing i do love is its finish, i usually HATE sunburst finishes but this one looks right to me.

Well the colour coat is on now. need to do the clear but there is some imperfections in the colour coat, so light sanding here too

If only i hadnt bought a P neck from the states last week i would have taken your's offa your hands.

Well i just wanna get a better amp and think maybe a seperate cab and head would be the way to go. At the moment i have a [url="http://www.laney.co.uk/show_prod.php?prod=rb2"]Laney RB2[/url] and would like a little more power. I play alot of metal but i do play some classic rock and some jazz and all kind's of other stuff. Im not in a band and dont actively gig and at the moment i have a noname PJ bass from ebay, but soon i will have a custom jazz i am making and another custom 5 string fenderbird too both will have audere preamps and wizard pickups. I havent worked out how much my budget would be, but a cheap set with good reviews would be nice.

I am thinking of buying my first head and cab. Any advice? I dont have much money so a decent cheap-ish one would be fine. A link to some sort of guide to help would be great too.

Well i have the schaller 4 and it seems great but it has a 19mm spacing with 4.3mm adjustability but i would like to use the 5 string roller version but it only has 16mm with a 3mm adjustability. What i really wanna know is string spacings i could get with the both of them that they have in common so i would have 2 basses with the same string spacing. But if i could try a 16mm spaced bass and if its comforatble then it would probably be fine with a 19mm and a 16mm. But does those 3 mm make that much of a difference?? If anyone can tell me if this 3mm difference will make much of a difference i think i might be able to make my mind up easier.

I am having 2 basses made and would like them to have the same string spacing for obvious ease of transition between the two basses. But one will be a five string fenderbird and the other will be a 4 string jazz. I am using 2 Schaller 3D bridges one has 19mm standard spacing the other is 16mm. What spacing can i get that they both can have. I would be up for ordering a bunch of them, about 7 sets most likely. buy a couple 5 string and 4 strings sets. Will be keeping my eye on this thread.

Can u paint hardware?? IE bridge, tuners. Just i wanna have an all black hardware on my next bass but for some reason i can only find chrome and the prices i have got for the black ones is double... Soooo can i grab a can of black spray paint used for cars and spray the hardware? Would it work?? Or would i just f*** it up?

I was thinking of getting the two pups in the same places as the pups in a Stringray HH maybe get that EB sound... any more input?

I am getting a bass body made for me but unsure where the pups should be. Was thinking of getting the bridge pup in the MM "sweetspot" but dunno about the neck pup. Going to be using a pair of Gems from wizard pickups. Any suggestions?
