1. RIP Paul. Seem slipknot back when they had a download festival in glasgow and loved em.
2. If i could get my hands on a graphite necked bass then i would gladly give it a wee play, but dont think there is any (too busy with exams to look properly)
3.
Do they have a no 6 string rule?!
Imagine your bandmates faces if you turn up with a 6string "but guys, its got 6 strings not 5!"
4. In my search to create my perfect bass i have come across something that i am sure has had many a thread created about it before: which is better, a graphite neck or a wooden neck. I am now back to work so planning on saving up some cash each payday and saving to make another bass, the only thing i know for sure is that it will be a jazz bass of some kind. So what are the pros and cons of a graphite neck? Are they really that much better than say a one peice maple neck? How do they affect the sound/tone of a bass? Any info would be great. Cheers, Andrew
5. Come on, must be someone in the glasgow area (or near) wanting one of these? It just lives in my wardrobe hidden behind some old clothes.
6. Why do they have this stupid rule??? They must have a good reason otherwise i would go out and find a nice fiver for myself and refuse to play anything else... But with my hands i dont really get along with fives anyway
7. That sample has blown me away... No money so cant buy and havent got on well with fivers lately either. I dont want to be too Off topic but do you know how big singles sound compared to the fat stacks?
8. I started looking at the status neck now too, near enough the same price once you have chosen all your wood and frets and a nut and finish and i know alot of people love em, but how does a status neck feel? Does it feel like a gloss neck (slow) or a satin finished neck (fast)?
9. I was hoping for more warmoth bass specs in this thread by now I know it is fueling my own and im sure other peoples GAS but whats the harm in it eh?
10.
Don't encourage me - my missus thinks I already have enough basses
lol i have 4 (Aria zzb, custom Jazz, stagg warlock and eBayed PJ) and my parents are not happy with that, but in my defence i am trying to sell the warlock copy. Oh and you can never have enough basses
11.
I guess its good for my bank-balance that Warmoth don't do mustang bass bodies & necks. If they did I'd fancy a fenderbird based on a firebird-type guitar body & mustang neck.
I'm sure if you ask real nicely they might be able to help you out
12.
Brass nut for grounding, or ground all the machine heads together with a strip of copper on the back of the headstock. I just have a copper strip between mine. No breakage troubles.
I like the copper strip idea, one 5mm strip from the E to G tuners going under the A and D. If your 100% that it works then I think I don’t have to worry about the grounding issue, I am assuming I still need to ground one saddle to the jack/preamp.
13. i forgot about status' necks, more expensive but also cooler, never tried one though so dont know how i would like it. Wouldnt wanna spend nearly 300 quid for an awesome neck that i dont like in the end
14.
That would be a pretty sweet instrument - and I say that despite not being into Metal. [Shameless Plug] I'm selling a pair of big singles on here [/ Shameless Plug]
If i had the money to do all this i would be taking those pups offa you, but as the thread title suggests, its all just a dream until i get a job and being a student it will take about a year to make the money to make this bass a reality It wouldnt be just for metal, although i am a big metal fan i dont really play much metal tbh, if i hear a bass line i like i will try and find a tab for it and give it a try. I learned some blondie and hendrix basslines last week. Do you think the big singles would be too aggressive?
15. I have spent more than my fair share on that site, drooling over gecko basses and trying to find the perfect jazz bass. I thought about black hardware but with the maple, pearl PG and daphne blue i dont think it looks right. I look forward to seeing what everyone else can dream up, might even give me more GAS and ideas
16. I spend way too much time on the warmoth site planning my dream warmoth made bass, if I had the money right now I would get this: Body: 4-string Jazz bass in Daphne blue made from swamp ash with white pearl PG with routed double battery box with strap locks Neck: maple on maple 20 fret neck with a hipshot 3 string retainer with clover ultralite tuners with clover ultralite detuner with Graph Tech TUSQ nut with the chrome Warmoth Metal Decal on the headstock Pickups: 2x Big Singles Preamp: Audere w/ 4 band with passive switch and tone @ 18v Bridge: String through Hipshot single saddles I think it would be an awesome bass with ALL chrome hardware, it would cost a fair bit but in the end I think it would be worth it. What does everyone else think? And what would you make?
17. I have been looking at string through single string bridges as a possibility in a warmoth custom jazz and was wondering how you would ground them. Also has anyone got them? I read somewhere that the saddle/string can break easily due to the angle when strung through and also wondering if they are any good. Also I think it looks great, every time I go onto the shuker site and see that orange/red bass with those single saddles I think they look great... Any advice or experience's would be great.
18. Very nice looking bass, make sure to let us know how it sounds and plays
19. Alot of modding is very easy, to change the PG your only problem would be finding the correct one. I'm not 100% but im sure different fenders have different shaped PG's ie made in mexico and made in japan are not the exact same shape. When i built my jazz bass i had 3 different PG's two pearloid and one white and i had to shave a bit off one of the pearloid ones to make it fit with the neck. I'm sure someone else can explain this better.
20. Have you looked at a custom? Shuker maybe? Always an option with that amount of money.
21. 4 days wait and still not unleashed, when will we see it 7string?
22. My first bass (a PJ) had the reverse P and i think it sounded nicer than the fender P bass (only the one lol) i've played, gives the D and G strings that something extra...
23. Access to the truss rod at the headstock, ADG string retainer, better bridge than the BBoT, MAYBE wire it straight to jack (but i dont have any Precision experience so dont know how that would sound compared to V/T) and thats all i can think of at the moment... But im sure it will be a great bass!
