  1. Got my first short scale yesterday. Fair to say I’m smitten. 😊

      Very nice!

  2. I used to swear by them. But the last two sets I bought were poor; set one were corroded near the ball end, with a dead E string, set two were a little better but again, the E string was noticeably duller sounding than the rest of the set. I moved over to Fenders.
  3. Why can’t I buy coloured pickup covers for a jazz bass, that aren’t black, white or cream?

Ooh fanx! Their site won’t load properly on my phone though, will have a look later. 👍🏻😊

  4. Would you be interested in a trade...?
  5. Oh man... too close to Christmas, and I've just spanked the credit card on a new amp...
  6. Oh stop! Can anyone smell GAS?
  7. Nah, they're not the same are they? The OG Gibbos were never PJ configurated. But that T bird is quite nice:)
  8. I don't like: Burst finishes 3-point bridges Active basses (except for Stingrays) Pointy basses (BC Rich in particular) Most of these horrible hand made things that are made out of cr@p like woodworm-riddled slabs. Pretentious nonsense.
  9. Very nice! Can't understand why Epiphone don't do a version of this, or a non-reverse Tbird...
  10. New combo purchased (GK MB410 II), had the 2 x 10 combo serviced, took it to a rehearsal on Wednesday and had it running for a couple of hours straight with no issues. Gigged it last night and the distortion issue came back again, so have spanked the credit card on the new unit - £699 from Polar Audio. Not bad considering Andertons list it for £1200... My 2 x10 ext cab is up for sale on BC if anyone is tempted, but I'm not sure what to do with the old combo. Maybe list it anyway and invite offers...
  11. Given that I don’t have funds for a new combo at the mo, I think I’m gonna have to go with a head to go with this cab for now, until I can squirrel away enough for a new rig. Any recommendations for a suitable head to match this cab welcomed… 😊
  12. Currently window shopping. Thanks for the nod re Barefaced. 😊
  13. I was running the extension cab occasionally for bigger gigs, but the combo on its own was fine for most occasions. Anyway, I’ve just had a call from my tech to say that he’s noticed that when it powers up there is a slight crackle (I hadn’t noticed) which he suggests could be the class D power unit on its way out. 😞
  14. Hi Joel, Could you be more specific regarding your experience with these cabs? I've run my combo with this cab and have had nothing but great things to say about GK based on this configuration. What in particular made you change over to another brand?
  15. A bit fuzzy, but clear enough…
  16. Hi all, This might seem like an obvious question, but when it comes to amps I'm a bit light in the knowledge department. Basses - yes, I can chat all day, amps - not much of a clue to be honest... So, my question: I have a GK MB210 II extension cabinet that I might need to buy a separate head for, as my combo has gone in for repair and might not make it back. Can I run say an MB series head through the cabinet (it's not a powered cab) or will it need a powered cab? Any help/advice gratefully received and appreciated. Cheers.
  17. Welcome Yolanda, one of my favs.
  18. Let’s see if we can’t ruin it some more: …No dog’s orgasm in the classroom…😶 Moving on… The Communards version of Don’t Leave Me This Way: Don't leave me this way, No I can't exist ... I'll surely miss your ginger kids… 😁

Just ordered a set, never tried flats on my fiver before, or on an active bass.

I'd like a medium scale set for the recently acquired 33" Chyla 5er but I can't see how I can ask if they're available.

      Help!!

  20. Jamiroquai @ Victorious Festival last night - Paul Turner is an absolute machine.

  21. Pulled the trigger on a set of 45-100. Just put them on my JB and I am suitably impressed. Somewhat brighter than the Fenders I usually use, and I really don't feel like they're any stiffer than I'm used to either, so all good. Just need to gig them to get a real opinion of them. Thanks for the input you lot. Marvellous. x
  22. I love jazzes and have owned 5 (deluxe USA Fender 5, Fender Mex, Sire V7, Squier Affinity, G&L tribute JB1) and have always played with both pickups on full with the tone either full or at 50%. It really is the best passive set up, and they cut through without sounding thin or brittle. I also love P basses but the versatility you get from a jazz is the deal breaker. 😊
  23. Hi all, I’ve recently gone back to flats on my Squier jazz bass, using Fenders which I really like. I want to try D’Addario Chromes on my G&L JB1, so can you lot tell me why I should (or shouldn’t) use Chromes? I know a lot of you swear by them, but what makes them stand out for you particularly, and what makes them worth £20 (at least) more than other brands? 😊
  24. Really not much at all. 2 pieces 50x50mm max should do it. 😊
  25. NOW SOLD Gallien Krueger MB210-II bass cabinet for sale, 2 x 10 speakers with switchable HF tweeter. I have used this a fair bit over the past 10 years and does show some signs of wear - I don’t know what material GK used to coat this with (it isn’t tolex) but it has a tendency to chip if knocked hard, and it shows white underneath the black finish. I have used black acrylic paint to touch up the various chips, but the cabinet is sound, no cracks or other major damage, all corners intact, just cosmetic. Anyway, these cabs sound really tight and punchy, and as anyone who has had the pleasure (!) of hearing me play through my rig will tell you, this coupled with my GK 2x10 combo sounds pretty monstrous, despite its light weight (a shade under 15kg). Selling because I've now got to a point where if I'm in a band where I need to use this cab to be heard, then that band is too loud and I need to preserve what's left of my hearing...! Compatible with any properly rated amplifier head. I’m looking for £250, here's the tricky bit - I'm located on the Isle of Wight and I really don't want to ship this for fairly obvious reasons, I can meet buyers at any of the ferry ports (Portsmouth/Southampton/Lymington/Southsea) if that's any good, at no extra cost to you.
