Hi guys I recently got one of the Squier Vintage Modified '77 Jazz basses and honestly, it's one of my favourite basses I've ever played. Reason I bought this was because I couldn't afford the Geddy Lee signature model so I chose this one as it was the closest one to it. As much as it's a really good bass out of the box, there were a few things I decided to do to it. Firstly, I copper shielded all of the control and pick up cavities. Secondly, I fitted a white pearloid pickguard on the bass and a jazz pick up cover. Thirdly, I added some of the proper jazz style control knobs. It was quite hard sourcing ones that would fit the split shaft pots on the Squier as most the ones I found on eBay were for the solid shaft ones that you need to tighten the grub screw on. Last thing I've done so far is added an "F" stamped neck plate instead of the Squier neck plate. So, here's some pictures of it. Excuse the quality, as with all my pictures, I've used my iPhone for them. Body shot Control shot Full bass shot Headstock shot (I have gone back to tying bandanas under the strings to stop rattling when recording. Don't worry, I colour match them to the basses ;P ) The Duncan Designed pick ups in this bass are actually a total surprise. They're really good pick ups but they do lack a little something which is why I'll eventually be replacing them with Seymour Duncan SJB-1 or 3 pick ups. As well as that, I'm still waiting on my mate to send my badass II bridge he borrowed back to me so I can fit that to it. In the mean time, is anyone selling a jazz bass bridge cover? Preferably with the F stamp in it but let me know Lastly, I'm not too fussed about this but if anyone has the black block and bound maple neck from the other Squier VM jazz bass and wants to do a trade for this one, drop me a message because I would like to get that neck for it but it's not essential. Lemme know what you think Stevie

I don't know where the hissing is coming from, thats the thing. Well, I say that, I know it's the amp because when I turn the volume off it goes away. Apparently it's because I have my bass and treble up high but my mids scooped out. I don't know. I just like the tone I get when I'm playing. It could even be my wireless kit. AKG bug kits are absolutely terrible

Cheers dude, that's exactly what I was thinking. I need to get hold of a couple of new cables soon anyways so it'll give me an excuse to go and get a load made again. I'll probably use XLR's (that's what I was meant to say in the first post, not auxiliaries) to run from the head to the comp then from the comp to the power amplifier just so it's a steady connection. If I have any mic leads around at all, i'll give it a go when I get in from work tomorrow (apart from the power amp bit, haven't got my power amp yet as it's on order)

'Ey up fellas (and lasses just so I'm not bein' sexist!) I've just started setting up my new rack rig but I'm in a bit of a pickle about the way to set it all up. To put it in Lehman's terms, I'm using a Trace Elliot AH250SMX head and a Behringer T1952 valve compressor/limiter thingy but I have a couple of issues and technical questions. Firstly, I'll explain how I want to set it up... I want to be running my rig as follows: Wireless kit --> Aphex Aural Exciter --> Trace Elliot AH250SMX --> Behringer T1952 Compressor/limiter --> C-Audio SR-707 Power Amplifier. Problem is, I'm really worried that because my Trace Elliot is a powered head (as in it's got the power stage in it and doesn't need to be run through a power amp) it would blow up my compressor if I was to run the Trace Elliot from the speaker outputs into the compressor its self. My reasons for wanting to do this are as follows... A: I want it to compress the post amp tone instead of just the tone coming from the bass guitar B: There's an annoying hissing noise coming from my amp when I'm not playing which is apparently due to the fact I have the treble up so high so I'd like the "gate" option on the Behringer to cut that out when I'm not playing C: It would then be run into a seperate power amp to power my cabinets On the back of the Trace Elliot, there's the 2 cabinet outputs, a post-EQ DI auxiliary output (which I don't know if I could use to send the signal to the compressor or not) and an effects send (which i'm guessing is no help to me what so ever). Obviously there's a foot switch in-put but I'm not stupid enough to think I can use that as an out put haha. I also use this to control the EQ and Pre-shaping for when it gets to softer parts of songs I play. If you could help me here, it would be greatly appreciated! Cheers folks Stevie

I absolutely love old Hi-Watt stuff. It's the only thing I'd consider replacing my Trace Elliot with. TUUUUUBEEEESSSS!

Noticed he didn't have a page to leave some feedback on so i've started one for him. All in all an excellent guy to deal with. Messaged me about the EHX pedal I had for sale and sent the payment over straight away. Unfortunately, my local PO was getting a full refurb and that delayed the posting process but he was really patient. Thanks again Stevie (maybe I should stop using my local post office... to many previous problems but then again, the new owners have hopefully sorted it Cheers fella!)

Just deleted all my attachments. I've been using Photobucket for the last year on here but had attachments from prior of that so they're all gone

Simple really... In the last couple of weeks, I've run my bass head through a couple of cabinets that have a crossover and hf horn fitted to them and even though I love the tone my Marshall's give me, there's just that little bit of high end that they haven't got compared to the 2 cabs with the crossovers and horns in them (one of them was an Orange OBC410 and the other was something I've forgotten haha) so I wondered if it would be easy to fit a horn and crossover to my cabinets or not but also whether it would be expensive or not. As said, I'm running a 4x12 and a 2x15 but I don't want to change to 4x10's or 2x10's etc, I want to keep with the cabinets I have as I love them so much and they took me ages to find but I don't mind adding a horn and crossover to them to improve the tone. The 4x12 is running 4 Celestion pre-rola G12-65 speakers and the 2x15 is running 2 Celestion pre-rola 15" speakers (i believe they're called sidewinders or something) in it. They give out a really nice, rich tone but as mentioned, I just want to add that bit of top end clarity that the horn would add. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers guys Stevie

Sue Ryder basses... behold the SR JAZZ!

Number 4. But that's because I saw Geddy Lee play a red jazz without a pickguard so it makes me think of that -

Just started this feedback thread for Josh as he didn't have one before. He bought my orange Precision Bass off me a couple of weeks ago. Messaged me about buying it and had paid for it within the hour. He's an absolute gentleman to deal with and an Iron Maiden fan too which swung it for me to sell it to him haha. I hope the bass serves you as well as it did me and maybe some day if you decide to sell it, I'll have it back off you Also, hopefully see you at Maiden dude! Stevie

As the title says guys! I've got a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass 77 maple neck with maple fretboard, pearloid blocks and white binding here but I want a maple jazz bass neck with a maple fretboard, black blocks and black binding. Preferably from another Squier VM Jazz Bass. The neck is pretty much unplayed as I have just been bought the bass as a present for my 21st birthday next month. I like the pearloid inlays but I'm a huge Geddy Lee fan so I would love to have the black blocks/inlays instead to go with the white pickguard and badass II bridge I fitted to the black body Anyone out there?
