1. Hi there For sale I've got 4 HammerFest tickets which will take place in Pontins Holiday Village in Prestatyn, North Wales on the 12th and 13th of March 2010 These tickets are for full entrance to the arenas at the festival on the friday and saturday (which is the 2 main days of the event. Tickets for the thursday night, which is just a pre festival party, can be purchased for an extra £20 from the Hammerfest website) I'm selling all 4 for £210 which is an absolute bargain and a pretty big save on the cost of the tickets considering for one person for the friday and saturday is £70 giving a total cost of £280 plus £5 per person booking fee =O Cheers and let me know if you want the tickets. It is a genuine reason for sale, I cannot make it due to work D= Stevie Dewar
2. I'll get a couple of pictures up later on of how I position my hand when playing like this. Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been online for the last couple of days
3. The action is really low on my bass and the strings are low tension too Also, I do release the tension in my hand between notes And the pain is muscular pain in the bottom of my hand and sometimes my thumb wont move properly for about 5 minutes afterwards
4. hey with the song my band do and the stuff i mainly practise, there's alot of Power Chording and Alternate stringed notes (like playing an E on the A string and flicking the E on the G string for sections) Problem is, when i do that for a little while, my thumb really starts to ache on my left hand (fretting hand) and i have to stop doing it. I don't know if it's due to the way i have my thumb or what but it really hurts. I position my thumb just resting against the back of the neck on my bass just so everyone knows Any advise would be great. Cheers!
5.
He could patent an'' Eddie '' series of amps
Haha, now that would be cool. The Ashdown EDDIE Bass Series =P I'd buy them xD
6. I'm currently using a Series 6 Trace Head from 1989, fantastic head. sounds absolutely amazing. I'm in total agreeance that if I was to change, it would be to Ashdown. I was looking at a few Ashdown's the other day such as the ABM 500 RC EVO III Head, absultely gorgeous piece of kit. James LoMenzo of Megadeth (and ex-Ozzy and ex-BLS) has used Ashdown for years and his bass tone is absolutely amazing. Such a pounding but clear sound. Don't think i'll be upgrading my head until the start of 2011 anyways. Gotta finish paying for a new bass and driving test. Ironically, the new bass is the Fender Steve Harris P Bass hehe. But yeah, Ashdown does seem to be the way to go. Trace seem to have gone down hill since Gibson or Peavey brought them out which is a bloody shame as the old Trace stuff is incredible
7. I was in a guitar shop today that stocks Ashdown bass amps and the Ashdown rep came in and started chatting to the store owner about the new Ashdown Valve Bass Amps and new Neo Speakered cabinets soon to be released (8x10 and a 6x10) He then progressed to talk about Shavo (System of a Down) getting the new amp and the fact that he'd be going to Shavo's wedding next month... but the next bit is what caught my ear mainly... "You know Steve Harris from Iron Maiden? He phoned us last week asking us to custom build him a new Pre-Amp and Power-Amp for his rig as he's changing over from the Trace Elliot's he's been using for all these years. Also, it seems like his old Power Amps have packed up" So being the rather huge Steve Harris fan I am, I swanned over and kinda butted in on the conversation and asked him about it. He said he doesn't know which models it will be yet but they should be ready in time for the next tour (Sonisphere etc). Does this mean Maiden are going to be doing even more tours after the tour to support the new album next year? I do hope so. Maiden can't just pack up after the new album tour like they say they are going to. It'd be a shame to lose such a big band like that. Anyways... DISCUSS!
8. Yeah, I'm hoping they do release the RAH as thats the one i'll buy to upgrade my setup. Either that or a top end Ashdown head but it's most likely to be the Trace Elliot. I'm going to give them a phone call tomorrow about it. Cheers guys!
9. I was just looking at the Trace Elliot catalogue from 2008 I have got and nearly got poked in the eye when I saw a little section of text reading "The AH500-12, AH1000-12 and AH1200-12 will be available as rack mountable head units, these will be the RAH500-12, RAH1000-12 and RAH1200-12 and will fit any 2u 19inch rack unit case" I had quite a large smile after reading that as I was thinking of getting one of the AH1000-12 to replace my GP12 Series 6 at the end of the year but when looking on Thomann and the Trace Elliot website, there was no evidence of these heads being real... much to my disappointment So, can anyone shed any light on whether these heads were ever made or if they know if they're going to be released any time? Thanks guys
10.
Hiya mate, sorry to be the bearer....... I aked the same question of several graphtec stockists and the answer was a unanimous, none fit sadly. I was pretty p****d as well. Might be worth having a word with your local super luthier and getting a custom, bone, graphite, brass whatever. Realistically it will hurt at first but you will get donkeys out of it. I haven't got mine done yet but was quoted £40 for brass custom nut, fitted. Good luck, Karl.
Oh right, Well, ignore my previous post then haha I was told theyre the right one as theyre the same width, height and thickness. but obviously there's something else to the Rickenbacker top nut that makes them un-clonable. Thanks for the advise though, i think i shall have one made like you said =D
11. Got advised by a mate that the Graphtech PT-1200 is the perfect one for a Rickenbacker 4001 and 4003 Here's a link to one on the Graphtech site for you - http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?SubCategoryID=58 Much cheaper and much more reliable as they help your strings glide through
12. Hey there I'm just wondering if anyone out there knows which Graphtech top nut would suit the Rickenbacker 4000 series basses best They're so much cheaper than a genuine Rosetti Rickenbacker replacement Thanks very much
13. Hi there Just expanded my equipment with a compressor so now i need to upgrade to a 5 or 6u rack case. I'm only after an ABS style one so please, no offers of the basic, thin, weak cases, only the ABS style ones this one was purchased only 2 months ago for £65 all latches, bolts, casing and parts in perfect condition as it's only seen 3 gigs and light bedroom use Here is a picture of the case: If i can't find a trader for it then my asking price is £55. I've still got the box it came in too Cheers
14. I've just been sold a Samson S.Com Compressor for £30 by my mate who got it brand new 2 months ago and I was wondering if anyone knows if they are any good or not? They retail on the net for anywhere between £140 and £190 (that i've seen). Reason he sold it cheap to me is because he doesn't use racked equipment and got bought it for his birthday so he offered it to me for £30. Not bad Anyyyyyways, yeah, if you have any thoughts on it, please let me know Cheeers!
15. Contacted me in the morning about my cab, turned up a few hours later from london to trade some crisp pieces of purple paper for my Ashdown Mag cab. Was a pleasure meeting him, genuinely nice guy and pleasure to do business with. Thanks very much chris, much appreciated
16. Sold to the man from LAAAAAAAANDAAAAN!
17. After christmas bumpage!
18. I emailed Rhys the other day and he got straight back to me about it, the head is sold unfortunately. Fair play to him and I wish i had snapped it up when I could of Would of served well as a back up to my main Trace GP12
19. Have you still got it mate? I'm quite interested in it
20. Do you mean you need a machine head to replace it dude?
21. which model are they dude? i might be interested in the swap as i have a spare set of SD Quarter pounders now.
22. Bump on here, Looking for £65 + £5 postage for the bridge. Its the whole assembly. tailpiece, muting pad, saddles, saddle holder, screws Chrome as mentioned Also, this is NOT the new hipshot one, this is a proper Ric bridge
23.
20+ years of saving and collecting... oh it also helps having a proper day job and spawning no ankle-biters! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=48352 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=71183 Good luck getting this sorted, I think with X 's help you should have it cracked soon.
Warwickhunt - Haha, i suppose that does help. God help my bank account the day i start working full time and have my own place... I think i'll have to have a limit put on my account. I really do want a Thumb NT4 at some point though. Well, i will have to wait a few years =D BigRedX - Thank you so much for all your help in this. You've helped me determine the problem and everything. I'm going to put a sheet of insulating tape stuff on the bottom of the amp head chassis and fit the humfrees when they arrive. One question though, if i wrap electrical tape (or whatever that black tape is, sure it's electrical tape...) around all the rack ears, will this have the same affect as it would basically be cutting off the connection between the rack case and the equipment. Also, do the humfrees stop the bolt touching the rack ears all together or will there still be a chance that the bolt will connect with the inside of the rack ear?
24. BigRedX - Buzzes in every configuration apart from when i plug my bass directly into the head and then run the head to the cab. It's only buzzing when the other equipment is plugged into the head. I've followed all your instructions and now i'm just waiting on the humfrees. I know they only isolate it but i shall have to see what the results are after i've fitted them to everything. I cable tied all my power cables to one side of the case as well as moving the plugs across to the other side that the majority of the signal cables were on, then cable tied the signal cables and clipped them to the opposite side. Warwickhunt - More than 10? Dude you must of either had alot of money or you were very lucky to pick them up on the cheap. I played a Warwick 1987 Thumb NT4 through a Trace Elliot AH1000-12 at thr LIM Show last year and it was so nice, i will end up buying one when i've got the Fender Steve Harris and Rickenfaker I want/currently have being built. What you got for sale?
