Hey guys I've decided to put my Spector up for sale. I bought it thinking I would come in handy for my band but ever since I got it, i did a recording with it and used it for one practise. Apart from that, I've learnt a couple of songs on it and noodled around on it. It plays unbelievably well and sounds amazing (especially with the EMG HZ pick ups and the EMG BQC pre amp) but I'm just not utilising the 5th string. I have it tuned to Drop A# but considering my band play in Drop C# (C#, G#, C#, F#) I just keep tuning the E string down to C# and ignoring the 5th string. Cosmetically I'd say the bass is in 7/10 condition. It has 2 or 3 tiny pen nib chips in the finish around the edge and some usual buckle rash on the back. I didn't buy it new and from what I can work out from one of the markings, the bass dates back to 2000. The neck is in perfect condition, has no marks on it and feels satin smooth when you play it. All the hardware is black, the finish is a deep cherry red, the fretboard is rosewood with pearl dot inlays and the neck has a 4 bolt on construction. I've added some schaller style strap locks to the bass as well which were an extra £15 but i'll be leaving them on the bass when I sell it. Price, I'm looking for [s]what I paid for it which was £400 £325 £300[/s] £250 (and that's the lowest i'll go). For that, i'll leave the strap locks on, throw in a Ritter gig bag and get the intonation checked over before it's sold. Collection is welcome with prior arrangement or postage will be around £15/£20 to mainland UK (please ask about overseas) Here's the pictures. I like to try and be honest when describing the items i'm selling which is why I gave this a 7/10 although some may say it's an 8/10. The damage to the finish is documented in the last 3 photos (nothing extreme but please excuse quality, my iPhone is my only source for taking photos) Picture 1: body shot Picture 2: headstock Picture 3: headstock top (because if you're like me, I like to see if the top of the headstock is damaged. This one is in perfect condition) Picture 4: back shot to show buckle rash Picture 5: back edge 1 - 2 tiny dents in finish (not chips) and a bit of a scuff (can be polished out easily) but they can't normally be seen as it's where your arm would be anyway Picture 6: back edge 2 - pen nib sized chip in paint work (next to finger, hardly noticeable) Picture 7: with the Squier VM Jazz bass and Tobias Toby Pro 4-B (retired from gigging) So yeah, drop me your messages! Cheers Stevie

Hey guys A while back my Korg DTR2000 stopped working. It could be a dry joint or it could be the processor that's stopped working or something else. whatever it is, I don't feel skilled enough to fix it so instead of having it cluttering up my room, I thought I'd pass it on to a professional/someone who thinks they can fix it. No point in putting up any pictures, it's a silver faced DTR 2000. The casing is a bit scuffed but the front looks fine. Just that when you plug it in, it either comes up with everything lit up like a christmas tree or nothing at all. I could do with a 2u rack tray but I doubt any one will want to trade one for this. If not, £20 O.N.O. plus pnp (shouldn't be more than a couple of quid) or you can come collect it (as long as I'm not at work) It could be a dud or it could be an easy fix and you have a £120 tuner for bugger all. It's worth the risk. Stevie.D x *edited so I don't get in more trouble for stating offers or £20...*

Hey guys I'm thinking of buying a Sennheiser EW100 G2 wireless system to run my basses on (in fact, I can get a pair very cheaply off my mate which is perfect for running active and passive basses separately) but I'm getting a bit worried that i'll buy them then not be able to use them All this "Digital Switch Over" lark is beginning to annoy me as no where really states what frequencies will be banned, only what channels and I don't know what that all means! Anyway, the wireless kits are Range E which is 830 - 866 MHz so does any one know whether or not this will be legal to use after the switch over or not? Also, could any one let me know which frequencies will be banned so i can let me guitarists know too? Cheers Stevie

Precision Pickup recommendations?
Seymour Duncan SBP1 Gets my vote. Got one in mt CV P. The best complement I can give it is, it's ability to sound like a P Bass!
Got them in my SH Precision Bass and my 87 Precision Bass. With a set of D'Addario flat wounds on there it can go from a mellow P-Bass sound to a proper growling beast. -
Hi On behalf of my bands guitarist, I'm listing his Dean ML Tribute guitar in solid black with a hard case. He's owned it since new and has looked after it very well but as expected with pointy guitars, there's a couple of chips to the tips of the headstock. Nothing major but it's better to note it so it's not a surprise. There's the obvious light buckle rash on the back of the guitar and a few surface scratches on the front too but nothing that can't be buffed out and certainly nothing that can be felt when running your finger over it. Some info on the guitar. It's got a tune-o-matic bridge, Dean Zebra pick ups, grover tuners, Dime Custom dials, all chrome hardware, 4 screw bolt on neck and it's had recent professional set up with 10 gauge D'Addario strings (it has been set up for E flat/E standard tuning) as well as having the intonation fully checked and corrected. It's only ever been used for band practises and recording/playing at home. Never gigged either as he uses an Epiphone Explorer for gigging with. The price is set at £200 O.N.O. including the hardcase which has various other foam fittings for different guitars but is set for the ML right now. As for trades, the only thing he is interested in trading the guitar for is a Zoom G2.1DM Dave Mustaine Signature modelling pedal or an Epiphone Les Paul Custom (in black or silverburst) Viewings are welcome as long as a time can be arranged that fits around his work schedule. Don't really know what else to say apart from pictures will follow later on. CHEERS! Stevie.D

Hmm, that's interesting that both of you have 97's and say they're great basses but it's even more interesting that Lozz mentioned the 95 take over. Kostas, it wasn't long before then that they started doing that. Personally, I'm not a fan as you lose the skunk stripe on the back of the neck but I know they do improve the strength of the neck. I need someone with a 1990 P-Bass to tell me what it's like

Seymour Duncan SJB-1 or SJB-3 quarter pounders. I've got a (heavily customised) Squier VM 77 Jazz and i'm going to stick a set of SJB-1's in there next month. They're amazing pick ups

It's the same rickenbacker he played years ago but he's had it modded many, many times by Dawk Sounds. He had the neck re-shaped and picollo strings put on it. Absolutely absurd if you ask me but I do love Manowar at the same time...

I know I said it in the message to you but my god that is gorgeous! Get a Marcus Miller pickguard and you've got a perfect MM replica haha. If you're interested, i'll post a picture of mine on here when I am at my dad's again. Thanks again for doing the swap mate

I stopped using Rotosounds for about 6 months as I felt they were starting to die off far too quickly and I couldn't afford to change them every month on 3 basses at 20 quid a pop so I started using the Fender (re packaged D'Addario) 45-105 standard strings. Yeah, they were nice but they lacked that snappy, twangy sound that Rotosounds gave me on my basses. I'm seriously considering going back to using the Roto RS66LE 50-110 for the lower Drop C# stuff I play and RS66LD 45-105 for the standard/ E Flat stuff I play. Saying that, I do find the D'Addario Chrome Flatwounds to be better than Rotosound's flatwounds (especially the Steve Harris SH77 flatwounds) so I'll carry on using those on my Steve Harris signature Fender but for the roundwound strung basses like my Tobias, Spector and Fender Jazz, I'll give the Swing Bass Rotos a chance again.

I'm desperate to try out one of those Hartke LH1000 heads as I know David Ellefson of Megadeth swears by them and they can be picked up quite cheap. Saying that, I can't see myself selling my Trace Elliot unless an SVT 4 Pro comes up for sale. Hopefully next month I'll have a few more additions to my rig so i'll post some pictures then

Hey guys I'm looking to join the band wagon of people looking for Y.O.B. basses which unfortunately for me means a 1990 bass. My choice is obviously a Fender Precision Bass. You wouldn't expect anything less from a Steve Harris/ Marcus Grosskopf/ Geezer Butler/ Frank Bello nut. Anyway yeah, I'm looking to get one with an Alder body, maple boarded and C shaped neck (with a gradual descent to a D shape from the 12-20 frets) then give it the full "Steve Harris" treatment which means a Badass II bridge, Seymour Duncan SPB-1 pick ups, chrome pickguard, Fender vintage reverse wind tuning pegs, Graphtech black tusq top nut, amber tinted neck, pure white refinish with blue/yellow/blue (instead of claret/blue/claret) binding and Leeds United (instead of West Ham) emblem on the back end of the bass. If the general consensus is that the 90's Fenders are sh!te, I'll just bite the bullet and buy a late 70's/early 80's one. Cheers Stevie
