1. I just bought an iRig off Dave. He sent it the same day I paid and it arrived the next morning. Absolute pleasure to deal with and a man of his word. Thanks a lot Dave! I really appreciate it going through so quickly Stevie
2. Swapped the neck from my Squier VM Jazz with the neck from Dave's VM Jazz. The man's a pleasure to deal with and an absolute gentleman as well as a man of his word. Would happily deal with him again. Thanks Stevie
3. I can make you one if you don't mind waiting a while?
4. Did you mean £260 posted? It's £250 B.I.N. and £10 posted. Still, absolute bargain. Pair that with a Jackson and a HyDrive 410 and you're in Megadeth! haha
5. Oh man that is nice! I was thinking of spraying the body of my Jazz white but this has made me want to do it more! I wish I could afford this
6. Just wondering mate, did you mean Badass 1 or Badass 2 because that looks like a BA 1 on there. Either way, still a stunning bass and one I wish I could afford Ps, up the Leeds and Marching on Together!
7. Hi guys On behalf of my bands guitarist, I'm selling his Marshall AVT 150 amp head. He's had it for just over a year but got himself a nice little pay packet and decided he wants an older Marshall like a JCM 800 or 900. About this amp. He bought the amp as said just over a year ago from his cousin who's a Marshall endorsee so we got him to get it fully serviced and PAT tested by Marshall before he bought it. During the service they replaced all the fuses, checked over all the solder joints to make sure there weren't any dry joints and the pre amp valve was replaced so it's a fresh valve in it. Basically, it's like new on the insides. The outside has a bit of battle scarring to it as you would expect but only really on the edges of it. It works perfectly as you would imagine and as I've said in the title, it comes with the footswitch that allows you to switch between the Clean channel, Overdrive 1 channel, Overdrive 2 channel and Acoustic Simulator as well as having 2 controls for turning on the effects for either the clean/acoustic channel or the OD1/2 channels. We've set an asking price of £180 for the head and footswitch. No cabinet is included as he needs the cabinet still for now. As for delivery etc, we could probably delivery it within a reasonable distance for the cost of petrol or we can arrange for a courier to deliver it to you. You're welcome to come pick it up yourself as well (as long as it fits in with when he isn't at work). As per usual, iPhone pictures. Please excuse them! Cheers Stevie.D
8. So here you go. These are my 3 main basses at the moment. On the far left is my Squier Vintage Modified 77 Jazz Bass which I've heavily customised, My newest acquisition, a Spector Legend 5 Classic and on the far right, my most important and sentimental bass, my Tobias Toby Pro 4-B which has been customised. Squier VM 77 Jazz Bass mods: * Fender "F" stamped 4 bolt neck plate: * Squier VM Jazz Bass neck (swapped with Nibody) * Complete copper shielding of the control and pick up cavities * Fender chrome pick up and bridge covers * Schaller strap locks * Control knobs from a Geddy Lee jazz bass * Blue tortoise shell pickguard Mods to come: * Fender reverse wind tuning pegs * Hipshot BT-7 D-Tuner * Seymour Duncan SJB-1 pick ups * Possible white body refinish Spector Legend 5 Classic mods: * Schaller strap locks * EMG-HZ pick ups * EMG BQC pre amp Mods to come: * Hipshot GB-7 D-Tuner * Seymour Duncan ASB-BO5 black out pick ups * Possibly an Aguilar OBP-3 pre amp (doubt it though as I am liking the EMG pre amp) Tobias Toby Pro 4-B mods: * Leo Quan Badass II bridge * Dave McKeen KE-3Ba pre amp * Complete copper shielding of the control cavity * Complete re-lacquering and tip of headstock repaired after I damaged it on garage roof Mods to come: * Hipshot GB-7 D-Tuner * Seymour Duncan ASB-BO5 black out pick ups Apart from these 3 basses, I have the Fender Steve Harris Precision Bass and a 1987 Fender Precision Bass which has been modified with the same parts as the Fender SH Bass so they've got the exact same specification but I've had it finished in a checkerboard paintjob so it's a copy of his bass from the "Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter" video. As it's not totally finished yet I haven't got a picture of it but here's the Steve Harris signature bass with his "Ed Huntour" vest from the Ed Hunter tour back in 99/00 when Bruce and Adrian came back. I managed to acquire the vest off Michael Keeney, Steve's bass tech/Iron Maiden's keyboardist. Apparently he had worn it for some of the gigs. If so, I'm going to clone him... haha! Anyway. here's the bass. (also pictured is the Virtual XI tour official football shirt, my Leeds United sweatbands and my strap which has a scarf sock cover in the Leeds United colours just like Steve has the scarf sock covers in the West Ham colours)
9. You're right in thinking Steve uses the SPB-1's. I have the Steve Harris Fender P Bass and I've strung it up with D'Addario flats (50-105) as I didn't like the Rotosound SH77 strings. I've 95% nailed his tone now too Your bass is looking really really cool now but please sand that headstock down and get it looking fresh
10. Okay cheers for that. Only reason is, the pick up wires are wrapped together in a plastic sleeve so it would mean having a lot of bare wire for the earth ones if I attach them to the volume pot.
11. Oh, quick question, will it matter if I attach the ground wires from the pick ups to the tags on the blend pot that are connected to the casing of the volume pot?
12. Thanks so much for your help guys. Unfortunately, I didn't get chance to sort it out in time for this evening but I used my Spector 5 string instead which sounded absolutely beautiful. I'll have a go at it tomorrow evening and let you know the out come Cheers again! I really do appreciate it
13. As you can see in this picture, I've got the red wire going to the + terminal of the battery and the black wire going to the earthing terminal of the output jack which leaves the brown wire and the blue wire. The blue wire is the output wire so i connected that to the live part of the output jack and the brown wire was already soldered on to the volume pot so I left that as it was. Here is a picture of the volume pot. The wiring on this is just the brown wire from the pre amp to the middle terminal then a yellow wire from the right terminal going off to the blend pot Here's a picture of the blend pot. As you can see, there is the yellow wire from the volume pot running to the top right (if you sit it with the shaft pointing upwards) terminal and then a blue wire going from that to the bottom left terminal but no other wires around. Just for reference, a picture of the volume and blend pots together
14.
Does it look like this? (Taken from http://www.myspace.c...s/photos/721411)
Hi Mart, yeah it does look like that but the yellow wire is brown and the green one is blue on mine. I'll upload some pictures on the next post
15. The pre amp is a Dave McKeen 3 band pre amp. I've tried contacting the company but the email address just fires back a non delivery email straight away. Apparently they did pre amps for Zon basses for a while which is where this came from. I'll have a go at what you suggested when i get a spare minute. It's just bloody annoying. I have band practise friday and would love to get this bass going again in time for it as it's my favourite of my basses. If I can't get it going properly I'll be getting an Aguilar OBP-3 for it or see if I can get my old Spector pre amp working. Either way, I doubt this pre amp will be staying in the bass. cheers mate Stevie
16. Guys, I need your help big time here! Basically, I've got a new pre amp for my Tobias but the guy I bought it from didn't know how to wire it in so I've been left to guess but I'm a bit stuck with it. I know it works because I've been able to hook the pick ups straight to the pre amp but when I try wiring in the blend and volume pot, I can't get it to work. There is one wire that goes from the pre amp to the volume pot then one wire from that to the blend pot but no earth wire from either. I'm not too fussed about what set up i have whether it be volume and blend or two volume pots (admittedly, I'd prefer volume and blend but beggars can't be choosers) but I just need some help with how to wire it in. If someone could help me I'd really appreciate it. Cheers Stevie
17. Badass II for me all the way. i have one on my 2 Fender Precisions (Steve Harris signature and 87 checkerboard), my Squier VM Jazz and my Tobias Toby Pro IV. I like the looks, the increased sustain and the overall quality of the bridge. I have nothing against the Babicz or Gotoh ones, I just prefer the Badass II's. The original Fender B.B.O.T. is a complete P.O.S. (make of that what you will). If I ever get another bass with a 3 or 5 screw mounted bridge, I wouldn't hesitate in fitting a badass II.
18. You should have. I'm so surprised no one has bought this. If I wasn't having my bass re-finished I'd have bought it. They go for upwards of £200 on the fleepitbay. Good luck in selling it before I empty my bank account
