2. Nope, jack socket is still on the pick guard.
3. I live between Southampton and Portsmouth so I can help. Bournemouth has a lively music scene, particularly on the jazzy end of the spectrum. Southampton has suffered with a lack of venues in recent years but is definitely on the up now. Portsmouth is overrun with live music and most decent sized pubs have live music, particularly rock and ska! Brighton also has a great music scene, bohemian and varied!
4. Yes, 2 stacked and one single
5. I have a P retro with a blend knob and it works well. The eq is a little different than a normal pre amp but I find it powerful and gives me a whole range of tones. The interval battery is great and mine is almost 4 years old and showing no sign of deterioration.
6. I'd go for this..... http://www.east-uk.com/index.php/bass/j-retro/marcus-retro.html
7. I've just been to Bass San Diego in.....errr ... San Diego. I played a $6K Emporer Std 5 fretless, a $10K Monarch custom 4, a $6K Monarch Yin Yang std and a $12K Imperial custom 6. They were all beautiful instruments and the fretless was the best I've ever played BUT the one that felt the best and sounded incredible was the Yin Yang Standard. The monarch custom was $3K more and certainly the wood was stunning but that extra cash added nothing to playability. I would have one tomorrow and I'm looking at some Yin Yang 5's that are due in the spring.
8. My Bass Mods K6 was Plek'd before it shipped to me and it plays like butter! The action is low and plays beautifully along and across the neck. It wasn't something I considered before but I would certainly have it done in future.
9. I have a J-Retro, P-Retro and a J-Retro deluxe. You could say I'm a fan!!
10. http://www.bndproducts.com/#overview
How did you do that mate? Have you a link you can post please?
11.
He may be a great guy but is he any good ? Have you had any work done by him ? I had spotted him online and thought of trying him for some things I felt were beyond my skills. His prices are very good.
Yep, the 'great guy' was referring to his skills. Steve Johnson in Hillsea is good too as mentioned in a previous post. Both are personal friends and trusted craftsmen.
12. I've just switched to Aguilar but I've been using Markbass for years and I love it. Last night I had a gig and had the use of the previous band's rig (TC RH450 with GK 410) or the house head (GK2001) with the same cab. The TC was wooly with no definition and was so lost in the mix, even the sound engineer suggested I change to the GK which sounded much more rounded and full. I wish I'd taken my MB LMII. My admittedly one and only experience of TC heads was not a good one.
13. Www.tonefinder.net Rich is a great guy.

15. It's worked out on the value of the instrument as stated by the person sending it. Currently it's about 3.5% import duty plus 20% VAT and is payable before collection as stated above. I've had deliveries from UPS and they have taken payment on the doorstep in the past. The seller COULD quote a lower value when shipping to save you money but that gets dodgy if customs open the package or it goes missing and you try to claim your money back.
16. Every breath you take - The Police. A great example of a simple bass line that is exactly what was required.
17.
The Jazz Cafe in London has a MarkBass 6x10 as the house cab and it always sounds great. I've seen all sorts of people using it and it seems really adaptable as well.
That's true
18. I found an unmarked, as new, Radial J48 DI for £70.
19. I use a 4ohm 104HF and I love it. Can't really comment on the weight as, coz I'm a tool, I have it flightcased! 20. It's definitely on the groove workshop DVD but here's the same lesson with the great Adam Nitti http://youtu.be/0wiV5iFPfIs
21. The import duty in a bass is currently 3.7% and VAT 20% so I think it was about £140 in total. Even after I bought a case for shipping AND the shipping and charges, the K6 came in around £700.

23. Yep, I have a K6 and I love it. Mine was plek'd before it shipped and so it plays like butter and has a fantastic range of tones. Amazing instrument for the money.
