  1. It had gold hardware instead of chrome, the body was wood (i.e not painted), and had a tortoise shell pickguard. Quality was exactly the same as basic model.
  2. Replace the capacitor with a 0.1u cap. Cost you about 80p. The 0.1u cap allows less highs to go to the output, so the high end will sound fuller, definitely won't sound thin!
  3. The Epiphone mudbucker is only around 1.8k output. The original Gibson's had a massive 30k output. Just get an Artec EBC4 Mudbucker, they're around 30k output (like the old Gibo's), and are dirt cheap. As for the Mini Bucker, I believe Artec do them also.
  4. Don't think it's the same bass.
  5. Do you know if Poland are in lockdown? Else I guess customs is a nightmare at the moment with the transition.
  6. I've owned a couple HB shorties, later got a SX short scale in LPB. The SX is lighter in weight than the Shortie, looks a lot better, sounds better, plays better. It costs more than the HB, but we'll worth it imho.
  7. What's wrong with white? Looks classic as it is. I'd suggest black or brown tortoise shell, or maybe aged pearl. Anything else will look naff. 😆
  8. I'm still waiting for DPD to deliver a parcel sent end of last year, should have arrived Monday, here we are Wednesday, still not arrived. 😥
  9. Try loosening the string, turn the ball end a little and tune. Sometimes the ball doesn't sit right against the bridge and causes a slight overtone.
  10. Anyone know where I can get hold of some left-handed knobs?
  11. These pickups are overwound, so have a higher output and more midrange, which gives them their punch, and more 'beefy' sound. The pickups I had for sale were from a 1979 Ibanez rs924 bass. I guess Ibanez used DiMarzio pickups in many late 70s and early-ish 80s basses.
  12. The pickups aren't Japanese, they are DiMarzio (USA made) PAF, Ibanez used as stock pickups in late 70s and early 80s. DiMarzio PAF pickups and all maple neck will give the punchy and snappy tone from 2:15 with a pick.
  13. So I tried lighter fluid - did nothing. Then tried white spirit, left it on for 30 mins, again did nothing. I resolved it by putting water, washing up liquid and some white spirit into a bottle, covering the bass with single sheets of toilet paper, dribbling the liquid over the bass, so the toilet paper soaks up the liquid, then tightly covered it with cling film. Left it for a day and a half. It was messy, but was able to scrap the residue off with the edge of a cd. There were a few little marks leftover, but applied some lighter fluid, and it polished up nicely.
  14. Sadowsky strings have (or had) grey silks. Probably Sadowsky's.
  15. You may have to wait a possible long while, as turn around times are relatively slow. But worth contacting Mark to get and idea of lead times.
  16. That's pretty much what Limelight was and a few others. 😁
  17. That Triple Six is lovely, even has the original 50s four string bridge. 😉
