  1. I'm a big D'Addario fan also, but just replaced my D'Addario's with Newtone. Wow, the Newtone's are so much better, I like nickels, and they sound better than any D'Addario string I've played, have less tension, more flexibility and softer on the fingers. I'm sure the steel rounds are just as awesome.
  2. Air bass... whoop! 😉
  3. Kent Armstrong and alike make high output lipstick pickups, so not weak. They are essentially guitar pickups probably why they aren't used in basses.
  4. With the exception of the Hofner shorty, what short scale basses are there out there with passive soapbar pickups?
  5. What's the weight of your TMB100, Frank? The short scale TMB30's are known to be relatively heavy for a short scale, so interested if the long scale is lighter than the short scale version. 😃
  6. Simple. Find someone selling one. 👍
  7. Have you tried a slab body before? I bloody hate them, very uncomfortable.
  8. The cheap pickguards from China have small pickup holes, they will not fit standard fender size pickups, you will need to make the holes bigger with a file.
  9. Yes, the standard fender neck have a more round end, where as the 51 style is flatter, so there will be gaps either corner of the body's neck pocket.
  10. You may want to note that the 51 style neck and pocket on the body is more square than the split coil versions. I think I've seen 51 style necks on eBay with 38mm nuts, not sure about depth mind. From China I may add.
  11. Did you read the T&C's on PayPal regarding payments and exchange rates?
  12. Don't do it. That's a great bass, by painting it you're only devalue it, especially adding a custom logo. 😥
  13. That's not what I meant, by being imperfect I was meaning me, not the parts. My tool box isn't extensive, and most hobbyists will be in the same boat, so often not using the right tools for the job, which invariably leads to things not fitting perfectly.
  14. Brought ones will always be better, mainly because if you put it together yourself you'll know if bits etc didn't fit perfectly. I'm not a perfectionist, but that kinda thing bugs me. Making a bitsa can be fun, but it's definitely not profitable, so expect to lose money going that route.
  15. My 2020 P classic vibe is flawless. Fit and build quality is excellent, finish is perfect. Neck is super tight in the pocket. Was set up at the shop, so can't comment on how they come out of the box. I've owned dozens of fenders, and this one is up there with the Japanese ones I've had. 😃
  16. Now I want to submit a track called Songy-mick-song-face. 😉
  17. Personally I'd get a Squier classic vibe P bass, better bass all round imho, and I've owned a few 80s and 90s Squier's, as well as classic vibes. 😎
  18. Clear fake, I'm sure the original didn't have a Red Stripe sticker??? 😉 For value check sale prices on eBay. What's the seller asking, we can tell you if it's in the right ballpark. 😃
  19. You want to put a high mass bridge or string through which gives more sustain, on a bass which pickup is well known for its fast attack and decay?
