    The neck pup looks original, the bridge is definitely a cheap ceramic pup (i.e not original).

    An active bass you need to add a small battery in order for the bass to make a sound through an amp. A passive bass (like yours) you just plug into an amp (no battery) and it plays.

    Something of note with the Vintage MM's is that if it has three knobs it's passive, if it has four knobs it's active. The OPs is passive. 👍

    Save yourself a load of money and get a Vintage v90 reissued bass, superb for jazz and funk.

    The bass is a "Vintage" brand from the 90s. The Vintage brand is a subsidiary of Encore, same brand, made in same factories, just different logo on the headstock, so quality-wise is identical to an old Encore. I had an old Encore which had the same style serial number at the bottom of the neck, like yours.

    SX basses are well made, generally the electrics and pickups let them down a little. They are basically the same quality and value as the older "Vintage" brand, not the "Vintage reissue" one's.

    I'd request detailed pics, and decide how much discount is reasonable, and demand it. Alternatively, you'll have to wait to they get new stock. Or, cancel order and buy elsewhere.

    Brand new Thomastik Infield JF344 long scale flatwound strings. 43-100 guage. £38 posted.

    I don't know, the strings are brand new. I'm pretty sure they are lower tension then your fender flats.
