These are nice little basses. I had the same one in LPB. The body and neck are decent, the hardware is ok new, pickup was ok, but electrics were rather poor. The tort pickguard on mine looked cheap and a bit naff close up.

Cool. I was thinking of doing a similar thing but with a mudbucker, but maybe a soap bar may be better.

Does it sound a lot different to a regular P bass?

Lumps of charcoal absorbs and removes odours.

Have you adjusted the height of the strings, or the height of the pickups? If the strings get too close to the pickups you can get a distorted sound. Try lowering the pickup height.

I had a buyer, who paid, then a couple days later changed his mind and demand a refund, on the same day the courier was to collect. I ended up having to cancel the courier and refund this guy. A real A-hole, but he did leave me positive feedback, relisted it, and sold it the next day, again, got feedback for the same item from the new buyer.

Why didn't you ask if the seller ships before you bid? If there was no mention of postage then you are at fault. If the seller had a postage price, and they don't post, they are at fault. Regardless, reporting anyone on eBay is useless - do you think the global company cares???

The best way to relic hardware (bridge, tuners etc) I've found is to rub them lightly with the rough side of a washing up sponge which removes the thin layer of chrome to reveal the duller metal underneath. Then put all the hardware in a smallish cardboard box filled with screws, bolts and nails, if you can find rusty screws the better, then vigorously shake the box, the more or longer you do this the more marks and nicks get added to the metal, and it looks like genuine wear and tear.

The best way to get a good relic look is to find a pic of a genuine relic bass, and basically copy it. Print out the best quality pics you can find as big as possible, use nitro, and use a scalpel knife or blade and carefully scratch away at the paint, scraping it away to emulate the dings and scratches. Then use some wood stain or some very dark cold tea, and brush that over the exposed wood, leave it for a few hours and wipe the excess away. Leave it longer if you desire a darker coloured wood. 👍

It's actually 50k as there's a massive 25% buyers premium! But besides the estimate, the bass was used after the majority of their success, making it less valuable imho.

The bass in your pic would have a nitro finish, which is easy to paint over. Removing poly etc, then painting over is a nightmare, unless you have lots of time, energy and patience.

Stability in which way? Better sustain has already been mentioned, what sort of stability are you referring to?

What? Either something is intonated or its not, you don't get "better intonation". 😆

Agree. Amplug's are utter rubbish. I've not tried the very high end stuff, but any sub £100 headphone simulators and such I'd stay well away from. A waste of money.

You need a minimum of a 40w iron, anything with less power just won't do the job well enough.
