Remove all the hardware, sand down the front of headstock until the logo is removed, make sure you use super fine sandpaper (2000 grit) lastly so surface is silky smooth, then make sure the headstock is clean and apply the decal. Leave it to dry then you need to add clear coat over the headstock to seal and protect the decal, leave for a couple days to cure. Then polish up. This is an abbreviated series of steps, but gives you an idea of what's involved. The finished look will be nowhere near as professional looking as it currently is. There are many video tutorials on YouTube.

Peavey's are decent low end basses. They generally have nice necks and well made.

Look at the 'sold' prices on eBay, that will give you a guide to what they sell for!

There does seem to be a lot of overpriced stuff around. Some people try and push prices, some are chancers. It might be frustrating if it's something you are looking for, but I wouldn't worry about it, something better always comes along. 😀

Yeah, a standard jack has two terminals, live and ground, the pickup has live and ground, you know where I'm going! 😉 If you want to get a little geeky, you could include a kill switch, then you can switch between the pickup being on or off, useful when not playing (on stage).

D'Addario make Fender strings, probably why both brands have coloured ball ends. Maybe they make Roto's as well?!?

The short answer is no. Some flats come with no silks at the ball end, but ALL have silks at headstock. I hate silks on flats myself, I found a set of very old fender flats which have no silk at headstock, these are not sold anymore, all fender flats now have bright green silks at both ends.

I'd say the Wilkinson Alnico pickup you have wired direct to the jack, with Markley Blue Steel strings as @kodiakblair says, run through a sansamp with the high mids boosted will get you the Bello sound. Wiring the pickup direct to jack will increase the output and increase the high end. Playing with a heavy (1mm) pick will also help achieve the sound. 😁

The choice of strings has a huge impact on the sound coming from your bass. Pickups play their part, but strings have a bigger impact than the pickups to the sound from your amp, so the brightness from steel roundwounds can be lessened by switching to nickel roundwounds. Orange amps sound good, but lack definition in the high mids and high end. A better amp is the Fender Rumble V3 25w, lots of low end, better definition than the Orange and has an overdrive channel if you want to add some dirt. 👍

Gear4music own brand basses are terrible. An ideal starter bass is a Squier Bronco short scale bass. Being short scale they are easy to use, the neck on them are brilliant, and it's got simple controls (volume and tone), plus they are relatively lightweight. Also, the resale prices hold up better than most basses.

My V4 I'm considering selling (can post) as I have a MIA incoming. One in one out policy. 😒

I have the KA Hot Vintage in a short scale P bass and they sound really good. 👍

Alternatively you could use an EQ pedal to lose the high end. 😁
