  1. Take a look around, there are recent threads asking the same question!
  2. Yes, the neo's are like pumping steroids into a pickup. 👍 I did it to an epi eb0, stock pickup is crazy low output, swopped the magnets with neo ones and it made a massive difference. 😀
  3. It means your ad needs to be reviewed by a moderator, probably because you don't have a BC subscription. Once a mod approves your ad the red triangle will be removed and people can see your ad. 👍
  4. As @Reggaebass says, rubbing gloss will leave a dull look. An option might be to (carefully) spray some silk or matte clear coat over the gloss?
  5. Use that peel off tape you use to hang pictures on walls. They won't damage the finish, and they should be reasonably strong. 👍
  6. The PBXN are all those things used with the tone knob. You can get any pickup, put some neodymium magnets under it and it's like giving the pickup steroids - becomes more powerful and aggressive.
  7. @geoham this may be an alternative to the Squier CV, better quality hardware than the CV and decent alnico pickups... https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Vintage-VJ74-Reissued-Bass-MN-Natural-Ash/2EYO
  8. Any alnico pickups will be smooth, it's ceramic pups which can be harsh. The US Original will be the best overall bass. The Vintera will be pretty close in sound and feel, but the hardware won't be as good. The CV will be close in sound and feel to the Vintera, but the hardware won't be as good. I'd go for the Vintera, lots of cool colours, and an excellent happy medium.
  9. "then a treble boost on the amp". "its not that I cant hear the treble frequencies its that I like them and want even more of them"
  10. There are a few things not looking right, the biggest is the 7 screws in the bridge - these are used on cheapo basses!
  11. Probably due to the imperial and metric measuring systems being slightly different.
  12. I'm a big D'Addario fan, however I recently tried Warwick Red Label nickel rounds and found them every bit as good a D'Addario nickel rounds only softer under the fingers. And they cost half the price, great bang for buck imho. 👍
  13. The brand/logo on the headstock is clearly removed - not that it didn't have one from factory!
  14. There's a lot of JapCrap on eBay at crazy prices because it has Made in Japan on it. Most of it is rebadged rubbish, I'd only go for the known brands like Ibanez. I'm sure Bassassin can list the brands to go for. The one linked with no headstock badge is a warning, if it was any good someone wouldn't remove or hide the brand name. £230 + postage with bits missing is way, way overpriced imho.
  15. If you can all link up using 5g, that'll be your best bet.
  16. Scott's bass lessons. Top guy, lots of his stuff on YouTube as well. https://scottsbasslessons.com/
  17. Um ... yes it will, a 0.022 cap or lower will give a lot more high end.
  18. What value capacitor is in the bass? Maybe change it for a guitar 0.022 cap, simple and cheap fix. 👍
  19. Killer bass. I had one several years back, hands down the best sounding bass I've owned or played, the pickups nail so many classic bass sounds, the weight was an issue for me.
  20. From my experience Vox amphones and the headphone version are rubbish. As you are playing at home at low volume, a guitar amp will work fine, it won't be great sounding, small practice amps (bass included) never sound great, but a guitar amp is perfectly adequate in your situation. 👍
  21. I'm guessing as these were made by hand back then, the difference is due to different people doing the strip - nothing more than that.
  22. 70s Fenders are renown to be heavy, P's were often between 10-12lbs.
