  1. What bass and amp are you using? Pedal-wise Darkglass Microtubes, you can't go wrong. 👍
  2. Probably a "Kay" bass, they pop up a lot on fleabay.
  3. The first JVs were replicas / based on the 57 and 62 basses, so I'd look up the original specs for these.
  4. In that case I might be interested in a 4 string. 😁
  5. To clarify, the necks have no truss rod(s) in, or do they?
  6. I reckon the pots were initially wired for a guitar from what I read from @Dan Dare link. Then put into a jazz bass control plate. Damn it. 😥
  7. Why will turning one pickup off affect the other? The wiring is the same as the diagram above, except the blue wires are wired to the middle lugs instead of the outside (left) lugs on both volume pots.
  8. I brought a pre-wired loom for a jazz project, oddly it's not wired in the standard way, see photo. I was expecting to solder my pickups to both volume pots with the live wire going to the middle lug. However, the middle lug on both volume pots are wired together, leaving the outside lug on both pots available. Do I just solder the live wire from my pickup to the outside lug, and ground to each pot? Does it matter which lug is used to connect the pots together?
  9. To view truss rod adjustment, hold the bass flat (horizontal) up to your head so you look from the bridge end down the strings, with headstock in the distance, then move the bass closer to one eye so that one eye views the neck from one side from heel to nut. You should then see if the neck is dead straight, though there should be a tiny amount of relief (very tiny amount of upward bow). When you turn the truss rod the amount of bow should either go up or down depending on which direction you turn the truss rod. If your strings are loose the neck should bow backwards, then the tension from the strings will bring the neck upwards once tuned.
  10. Better that then a lemon!?! 😁
  11. Brought a bass body from Lee, top chap, smooth, easy transaction. 👍
  12. Fender Rumble 15 v3 bass combo in excellent condition. Comes with lead. £45. Can post to UK mainland for £10.
  13. Do these strings have silks at both ends? I've just got me a short scale P and looking for some new strings for it. 😀
  14. Buddy Holly & the Crickets Sex Pistols Pixies These may seem like a random choice of bands, but each had a seminal impact and influence on 'rock' music. 😎
  15. How is it bass shaped? Looks distinctly a guitar to me?!? 😉
  16. Really, the headstock looks very similar, far more so than the HB version.
  17. There is no template, just look at a picture and copy it's placement. Easy!
  18. Looks lovely. Is the paint a professional job, not seen that colour before?
  19. It could be the strings, if you lift and let the string snap against the fret board several times, do this for each string and it'll balance out the tone of each string. Alternatively, if you decide to change strings DM me, as I'll take your old DRs off your hands. 😁
  20. Put a bit of carpet or heavy material under will resolve any resonance.
  21. So what is it you think is going to be different for a bassist than a guitarist?
