  1. I thought exactly the same. Headstock shape looks off. Love the the look of the bass though.
  2. You're welcome. Yup, these are excellent basses for the money. They can be easily modified should you feel like it, but the stock Roswell pickup is more than decent imho. I also like a beefy neck. 👍
  3. MIM and US generally share the same pickguards, MIJ are different. So I would say no, a MIM pickguard won't fit your MIJ unfortunately.
  4. Damn you, now I'm heavily gassing for a 51. 😍
  5. Hi Ray, welcome to basschat. It may be beneficial to start a thread on a guitar or band forum, instead of a bass one. It's also a good idea to let people know what kind of music you like or want to play, someone here might be able to point you in the right direction. Enjoy playing bass, it's great fun! 😁
  6. I used them once, had to contact customer services because a part was broken on the bass I brought when it arrived, took more than a day for a response, then they wanted me to pay for the replacement part plus shipping. So I won't be using them again. 😪
  7. A set of Flatwounds 45-100, which I believe are old Fender flats which have no silk at headstock end (very rare as far as I know?), and green silk at ball end. Very good condition, still sound pretty fresh. Had these on my Fender P, so cut for 4-inline, surplus to requirements. £22 posted (UK only). Thanks.
  8. Nice. Blondie is hot. 😍😍😍😍😍
  9. DFS, their sale never ends (apparently?!?). 😉
  10. WTF... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Custom-Cello-Bass-Satelite-Fretless-Neck/264538764604?hash=item3d97bd353c%3Ag%3AL~YAAOSw7ald1DIM&LH_ItemCondition=3000|7000
  11. If it's done by a good lutheir it will not affect resale value. If it's done poorly for whatever reason, than it will affect resale. It sounds like a no brainer, if you sell it with frets the way they are you won't get full sale value, as it needs work done!
  12. If you can't find anyone, this site will help you out... https://www.fiverr.com/categories/graphics-design/poster-design
  13. Would be interested to know what cap value you use to get close to a P sound?
  14. Does anyone know where I can buy a pickguard for an Ibanez Mezzo?
  15. I love the 51 Tele, but this is a massive NO. It just looks wrong. Waiting for the Fender Strat-cision next??? 🙈
  16. I've always admired her, she writes catchy songs. First saw her on Jools Holland, and really like she tries to do things her way. Kudos to her.
  17. I've brought a couple of basses, both times I arranged the courier to collect from the seller. Both times the items were well packaged. It's up to the buyer to decide (through messages and pictures) if the seller might be a decent seller.
  18. I would say it looks like a DiMarzio, and the output is right also. As you say the early ones were glued, but I think you have maybe a lower end DiMarzio (may be mass produced) to be used in mass produced basses.
  19. I use the foam part of a washing up scouring pad (remove the rough green part). Works a treat, the right height and density.
  20. I'm a flats guy, but Sunbeams are the best rounds imho. My main bass currently has half rounds, I wouldn't say best of both worlds, but like a well broken in and super smooth version of Sunbeams.
  21. Never too old to join a band, as long as you don't plan to go mental on stage or anything, you'll be golden. You'll need to work out how much time you have or want to put towards practice/rehearsals/gigs and move forward from there. As long as you're open with yourself and band mates about time, you're be fine. If others want to rehearse all the time, and you don't - it's never going to work. Aim to find peeps similar to you, in terms of what you want to play, and time you all want to put into the band. Finding others on the same wavelength isn't easy, but sometimes things just click.
  22. There's plenty of threads about different flatwounds, including comparison's. Have a search around mate.
