  1. You can use a washing up scouring pad, the ones with yellow sponge and green rough bit. Rub the back of your neck with the green side, will remove some of the gloss leaving a smoother, less sticky neck. It won't remove any of the black paint like sandpaper might!
  2. I was referring to removing all silk from the string will result in a clump of polymer. If you simply want to remove a few bits of fluff, give it a trim with some precision scissors - no need for a lighter.
  3. Some Danish Oil on that wood will really bring out it's character. 62 CS pups, the best choice p bass pups IMHO.
  4. I wouldn't do this, the silks are made of nylon, heat it up and you will end up with a clump of polymer.
  5. Something between 1500-2000 grit wet and dry.
  6. That's karma, after your absolute steal. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  7. You are right. I have the comfordable neck of the pb. You know, you can always put a jb neck on a p bass body!
  8. Nice, the SPB57. Did you put the heavy duty bridge on as it's not stock, afaik? Glad you like the PBNX. I agree, an aged MOP pickguard or cream would be the business.
  9. I can get very close to that sound with my p bass and nickel strings.
  10. There's so many head units out there I doubt you'd need to go the custom route.
  11. My first thought was the same as BassBunny, great opportunity to split the head and speaker up into two separates, which would make it much easier to move around.
  12. You are probably referring to the logo on the headstock saying Kay (with 1969) below. This refers to the Kay brand being relaunched in 1969 after being brought by and manufactured in the far East (Tawain). The Original Kay brand was made in USA and are highly regarded. The relaunched 1969 version are low cost, and low quality. The KB24 made in Tawain, looks good but is very heavy. I had one and was always fighting it to play, never again! Sold in Woolworths - tells you all you need to know!
  13. 34" is Long Scale, which is the standard bass string length.
  14. GHS do some 5 string flatwounds at a reasonable price, and they are pretty decent as well.
  15. Fender flats, they are pretty good.
  16. Fair play, that is a nice weight.Might be interested.
  17. Lightweight? Ash body? What is the weight as I'm guessing it's around 10lbs?
  18. @Ricky 4000 Which flats are you using on your jazz?
  19. These pickups were used in the old Squier CV P basses, which get great reviews! The TRP1 will break up similarly to the model p, so not sure you will get what you want. However, if you want a tight and punchy P pickup, then the Entwistle PBNX get rave reviews and are reasonably priced.
  20. I think the OP prefers Entwistle PBXN. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  21. Let us know how you get on with the pbxn after they're fitted?
  22. MIK '89 Squire P bass (one with glossy neck and Scheller branded tuners). Guy even dropped it off at my house for ยฃ50. Sold it a year later for x4 what I paid.
