  1. A rare opportunity to own a Bolin NS 5 String Bass for £875

This is a truly beautiful bass I got in a trade recently.

I had good intentions of returning to 5 string playing but it isn’t happening and I am now ogling another bass on here -  so here goes.

The design is as a result of collaboration between Ned Steinberger and luthier John Bolin and built by Bolin in Idaho USA.

This is a stunning instrument in very good condition. There is a ding on the lower bout which is difficult to see when playing. Other than that it is really pretty instrument that plays like a dream and light weight.

    35in scale

    Graphite nut

    Slotted headstock

The body is Alder with quilted maple top

    With an ebony fingerboard

    Fishman piezo under each string.

    18V preamp

    Light weight

    With Hard case

    I’m in Malvern, Worcestershire

Happy to meet up half way within reason

  2. Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass with Epiphone hard case £450

I’ve owned an Epiphone Rivoli and an Ibanez AFB200 semi-hollow bass but although I loved the look of them, I couldn’t  get a sound I liked.

The Epiphone Jack Casady Signature has a clever pickup with  selector switch that manages to get a great sound out of this iconic looking bass.

The neck is nice and comfortable and the action is low. The strings are currently old roundwounds.

Unfortunately for this bass, I am ogling something else on here. Hence I’m selling a few basses to raise some loot.

Although I may be tempted into a trade.

Here’s an interesting quote from Jack Casady from the Epiphone website:

Looking for the Holy Grail of Bass Tone

"When I first started playing, I ran across a short scale semi-hollow bass," said Casady "Despite lacking some low end, I really enjoyed the semi-hollow nature of that bass and over the years tried to capture that characteristic." Casady did find a rare Les Paul bass that came close to the sound he was seeking. "In 1985, I was living in New York and happened to stop in a music store one day and saw a goldtop, full scale semi-hollow Les Paul bass," Casady recalled. "I loved the bass but found the pickup to be deficient."

Casady approached Epiphone with his ideas and with help from our Epiphone luthiers, Casady fulfilled a life-long dream by designing the perfect electric bass.

  3. Hi

Here's my Fender Jazz Bass  Made in USA in 2005 with original case. Relisted.

It has the S1 switch . This puts the pickups in series to produce a Precision type sound. -It does made it sound more meaty.

The body is sunburst with through body stringing.

The neck is lovely to play. There is something about the rosewood fingerboard I love the feel of compared to my maple neck Jazz. However, I am currently oggling something else so I've decided to sell.

It is wearing a black scratchplate.  But I also have the original white one which has faded nicely to cream. So if you would prefer the white one I can easily swap it.

The previous owner had given to body a few dings along the way so I've tried to show them

The weight is 9.4lb which is about normal for a Jazz.

I am happy to meet up half way within reason. I'm in Malvern Worcestershire

Or can post if I have to for £35

  4. After only one play through, The remix doesn’t sound that much different to the old cd version. However you also get a remastered cd which has much better clarity. But imho it loses some of the warmth. But it’s still worth the dosh.

You also get the Squire/White Run with the Fox tracks. (?!)

  5. Just bought Chris Squire’s Fish out of water remix cd. Had the vinyl in the 70’s, then the cd, now the remix. Still stands up as a stunning album. A true original innovator. Always loved what he played. I still listen to Fragile and CTTE. Great bass sound. But every time I’ve tried a Rickenbacker it felt like a plank.
