dull sounding ashdwon mag rig, help much apreciated

Some tweeters have a fuse in-line...could look out for that. -
Dount it will be the grub screw as that will be a harder metal. As with all these things..it is the quality of the metal that counts. A retap might work..but expect the hole to be bigger.. you might have to get the sadle made up from new.. Looks like a Fender bridge so you may have to look at another bridge. I'd think Badass there, IMO.

We used this after throwing away a regular Sm58 radio mic.. http://www.images2.co.uk/Sound_Equipment/S...M_SU708600.html Chalk and cheese and blows the other unit out of the window... we can't quite work out why..but it surely did..!!

String consistancy is not so great these days, IME.. I doubt there is anything wrong with your bass..just the batch or that one in the batch. There is nothing you can do but to whip it off and clean it up...or by a new E or set. Happens more than it ever used to and not exclusive to any one brand as far as I have been able to determine. I get e and A strings that kink now after cleaning..and I have never known that before. That kills a string pdq and I have ended up throwing out strings. I am now going back to old/old sets as I think the metal quality was possibly better/more consistant, and cleaning those up..just so I can get more rotation. 2 weeks is about right with some sets.

Still none the wiser

You could do this...but am not sure of the quality of the pedal as a pre, tbh. Most would run a dedicated pre amp in a rack coupled with a quality power amp. Something like a Demeter, Alembic or Aguilar pre with a valve..but they aren't cheap. Just get a decent amp and save yourself the bother of mix and match
-
Should work fine... if you send ( out ) from your amp to ( in ) the tuner. It might nulify the mute option..if you have one..if you don't complete the circuit though
Many Metal riffs written in dropped D tuning are pretty unplayable if you try to fret the D on the B string. Even then, if you can find a way to play them, they'll sound awful if you can't work off the open string in the same way as the guitar.
It is sop... the open string might be easier but you retune the whole bass for this...?? learn to fret it..it will good for you in the long run.... for those classic times when the Vox says he can't get that key anymore at that volume A classic example here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zcLdzwtzt4...feature=related taking most of the open strings out of it or certainly the hardest part of them
Not been fishing so caught nowt I'm actually attending an interview next week to enable me to fish this 250 year old estate lake. A good head of 40lb+ carp, very hard apparently but it's a beautiful place and not often fished. I am not allowed to say where it is, but it's not far from me so it's like a Redmire Pool I can fish regularly!
Even though I am not a fisher, that looks great to me... would love to spend an afternoon fishing that...but, how do you cope with what looks like a lot of weed..????
-
Soak the hands in a salt solution and play cleanly. I'd have a plaster on if it was the part I fretted with
-
Rather defeats the object IMO..you have the B st so the D is covered..no need to bother messing around with anything else for an audition.

Don't really care. The broader picture for me is that I do what I do but I learnt long long ago that talent has little to do with music in terms of whether you will get anywhere. I've known bluffers get very good gigs and I've known very talented people not get a look-in.. so I don't equate success with talent at all. More than a few peole can be decent at a slap part..or sound impressive..and they really don't play well in the main...Youtube is full of it. It can make you laugh that people will spend 90% of their time practising slap and play it 1% of the time on a gig..and even then..will over-play the part. I like to hear a different take on a slap part...but the bandwagon will russle up the same cliches..!!
I first saw them in the 70s. A local music store put on a launch at a venue in Stoke. Loads of us sat there looking at a wall of these new amps. The lights dimmed and the amps were switched on. You could literally hear the sound of money coming out of pockets. I bought a 100w head and installed it in my outhouse. I used to practise with the lights off, and was amazed by the luminous green display. The amp sounded sh*t.
ha ha ..but Pete is right..they were sh** Good for their day which means the choice was poor. £40 for a working model and sound you can live with is ok. Could also double as a backup monitor amp.

Leave it to the singer and every once in a while...if the set if cut-down, for example....we might chip in with one or two suggestions
Basically the bolt-on gives a bit more snap and the ability to bend the neck and of course remove it. THe thru-neck gives potentially better intonation and looks better. It's not something that would bother me in buying a bass. That said if you have a custom bass made they will never be a bolt-on neck. So obviously it's a cheaper construction method. Some people prefer bolt ons so there's not much either way. Davo
Not entirely true as I have two Sei customs bolts on.. All Sadowsky basses are bolts on Since I have both..I wouldn't say there is much in it tonally and Sadowsky himself came to this conclusion ages ago...AIUI. I would put wood, pups and electrics higher up in terms of influence, myself.

Sorry guys..wrong link. This one http://www.tonebone.com/re-bigshot-io.htm There is a trim which drops the level of input 2 which is the one you use for the hotter signal
-
yes..both basses are active..and one drains off the pre quite drastically. It will drain if left in the bass for a few weeks.. I don't know why this is..as I have had it looked at for dodgy wiring..and it works fine. But the output from one pre is far hotter than the other and they are both the same pre's..!! so I liked this A/B idea. Until I get the active pre problem fixed, I am not going to have them both cabled up at gigs, but haven't gotten round to the former as yet. Other than that, it worked perfectly. The problem was/is entirely with the bass pre not the A/B box
Hey thanks, that also looks perfect and similar to the Boss one. Is one better than the other or not much in it?
Haven't used the Boss one..but I was impressed by this. I like the fact that you don't need a battery so it runs pretty clean. I used it just to compensate for the levels between basses...but as one of the basses drains very quickly, I stopped staying plugged in all the time so now do it the old fashioned way and mute through a rack tuner for a change-over. It is only a few seconds more to do this. The Boss is powered so you will either have to use batts or run a supply..both of which I wanted to avoid..and simplify.

Short notice 'mates' dep gigs... don't you love em! LOL
JTUK replied to warwickhunt's topic in General Discussion
None of which bothers me...as I would just as soon have turned it down in the first place. We have a date in Aug booked after a recent gig..decent enough money in a nice band venue with FOH and lighing supplied and the place is actually befitting of a wedding but I just know it will be a waste of time. Hence that is why, we gave them a silly fee...and they called our bluff so we are consoled in our misery. Having said that since the B&G can be older, they are more determined that it will be their show..as they are paying for it. One of our best gigs last year was of that ilk. -
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that every party/wedding HAS to have 'typical' function band set, but organizers should be acutely aware that to achieve a decent vibe at an event, you have to cater for the masses, rather than settling for more leftfield individualistic choices to save some money. To be fair, any band worth their salt should be able to present a 'standard' setlist in a way that is different and exciting anyway! Si
For me, it is simple..I don't want to do them... and if people want to book us..they get what prompted them to book us in the first place..which is likely another gig. There is no movement on this... we talk to the bride and groom direct and they know exactly what we will do. -

The saving grace is that it seems that no one is too fussed about a strict wedding set ..so you can tell the band what you know and go from there. A freind of mine was booked by a local act as a dep and this guy isn't used to these sorts of things so he set about his homework fervently for a pub type set.. The booking band then told him..after giving him a set of 45 songs to learn for a potential fee of £50..that he was only on stand-by as the guy might be able to make the flight home anyway. So all that work and no gig and NO money. Two things came to mind there.... f*****g cheek and f*** off -
I agree with the fact that this is a very directed show. Whether or not it works will be determined after the tour in record sales.

I don't really hear any lines... altho I imitate a few things as and when on fretted. I don't really want to play all those cliched things that you hear most of the time.
